Traveling to South Africa? Find Franschhoek hotels

The hotel was one of many that my wife and I stayed in during a three week visit to South Africa and is was exceptional. The room, breakfast, swimming and public areas were excellent. The only criticism (but I knew this before I booked)was that it is some 2.5miles from Franschhoek. However it did provide a shuttles into town three times a day. I will stay here agin rat assured,

We really enjoyed our stay at Lavender Farm Guest House. We were warmly greeted by our host Don who imparted his local knowledge about the Restaurants and Wineries in the Franschhoek region and even made a booking at a restaurant for us for the evening. The room was spacious, luxurious and beautifully decorated with every desired facility. The setting was just delightful in this very pretty part of South Africa. The breakfast was comprehensive and very tasty. I would certainly recommend Lavender Farm Guesthouse.

My husband and I booked Macaron Guesthouse for the first part of our honeymoon in Franschhoek and absolutely loved our time there. It’s quaint and perfectly situated in a quiet street just off the main road within a three-minute walk. It’s a great spot if you want to be near the Franschhoek Wine Tram ticket booth/pick up and drop off spot, as well as many restaurants. The guesthouse itself is beautiful and cosy, ideal for a quiet stay. The spread at breakfast was superb and the service was stellar. Both Nadia and Shandré are amazing hosts - we loved their friendliness and recommendations on places to eat and visit. All the staff are equally as wonderful. We can’t recommend Macaron Guesthouse enough! Thank you for making our honeymoon so special.

We had a lovely warm welcome from the owner Tim on arrival at Ashbourne House - he gave us loads of recommendations for vineyards and restaurants in the local area. The room and pool were lovely as well as a delicious breakfast! Will definitely stay here again when I come back to Franschhoek.

We just spent two nights at Avondrood Guest House and enjoyed every moment. The property is ideally located at the entrance to town - a short walk from all the best restaurants and shops. The rooms are huge and supremely comfortable with big comfy beds, massive bathrooms and everthing your heart could desire except decent in-room coffee (you get a sort of teabag fillled with brown powder that you soak in hot water). The grounds are magnificent with a lovely pool and hot tub, funky sculptures and well-tended lawn and gardens. The common living room and bar are beautifully appointed, well-stocked and welcomng at all hours. The inciuded breakfast is very tasty and generous. Justin Mitchell, the affable and very knowledgeable owner/manager is a wonderful host who is clearly well regarded throughout the village - a very helpful quality when you are looking for a table at one of Franschhoek's many fine restaurants. No worries there as Justin takes care of everything from airport transfers, to restaurant recommendations and reservations. The rest of his staff are so discreet as to be virtually invisible but nonetheless efficient. Franschhoek is not to be missed and this is the Avondrood is the ideal place to stsy.

An excellent, quaint little B & B, a short walk from the heart of Franschhoek village. The room was spacious, beautiful, and with an excellent view of the mountains. Breakfast was first class, with breakfast cooked to order using top end produce. Colin, the owner, has a wealth of local knowedge, better than any guidebook and it is a must that you seek his advice, not only for which vineyards best suit you, but where to eat. A fantastic place, highly recommended.

Our stay at Centre-Ville was very good. As it was holiday season, the better rooms were booked, and so we got the loft rooms, which were very unique in design. It was very tastefully decorated (but the sloping roofs at the corners could be uncomfortable for tall people). Our hosts Lisa and her husband were very good and paid personal attention to the guests. They helped us in getting a booking at a restaurant and guided us in what to see and where to visit while at Franchhoek. Brenda, the main housekeeper was a delight. absolutely lovely. The guesthouse is very well located and is close to all the main points. I would recommend Centre-ville to anyone visiting Franschhoek.

The hotel seemed lovely at first, very nice clean room beautiful view of the mountains. Wine and soft drinks were included from the minibar and breakfast was good quality. Upon checking in we were told checkout was 10am, it said 11am on agoda website. Everything was going well until the day we did the wine tram. Like most people we got quite merry and went back to the room at the end of the day to freshen up for dinner. Around 8pm someone phoned the room and hung up as soon as we answered, thought nothing of it at the time but when we got back from dinner it was obvious someone had been in the room. Jacket pockets had been opened, bags had been unzipped and several personal items had been moved. Thankfully nothing was taken, all valuables were in the safe, but not pleasant knowing someone has been through all your belongings. There was no forced entry, someone with a key let themselves in. we Believe it was staff and they had phoned earlier to see if we were in. BEWARE!!

Everything about our stay was just excellent. The check in was smooth, Wellington was friendly, extremely professional and knowledgeable. The apartment was gorgeous, sparkling clean and equipped with everything we needed. Thoughtful small touches like ice in the freezer and bottled water next to every bed. Centrally situated. The balcony was our favourite place to enjoy a glass of Franschhoek bubbly. This accommodation is highly recommended and we will surely be visiting again.

Lovely spacious room with seating area and the most comfortable bed of my trip to SA. James was really helpful when I arrived - within 30 mins I was sat watching the start of the sunset at Mont Rochelle Vineyard on recommendation (unpacking could wait!). Great location and an easy 5 min walk onto the main road. I chose a room with a small patio which got the sun in the morning, so nice to sit out with a coffee after the excellent breakfast. I’d definitely stay again when coming back to Franschhoek. .

Great place to stay in the centre of Franschhoek with all the restaurants and cafes on your doorstep with the tram stop (for the vineyard tours) right outside. Couldn't be better! Beautifully decorated apartment with everything you need. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night and would have loved to have stayed longer. Highly recommended and would definitely return again.

We stayed in 18 hotels and cottages during our stay in South Africa. This was the best Located in wonderful views. Clean. Cosy fireplace. Not far from the center if town

We spent a weekend in the beautifully appointed Pear Cottage in mid-winter on this farm. We sat in front of the fire while the rain drummed on the tin roof. Bliss. We had a barbecue one night and sat on the verandah enjoying the Woolies goodies bought in Franschhoek. The views of the mountains all around are magnificent.

The room was spacious and charming. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. It is walking distance from the main street and the Wine Tram. Truly the perfect location, and David and Jenny were fantastic with recommendations. I would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Franschhoek!

My wife and I had a fantastic time at Maison d'Ail during our stay in Franschhoek. The property was in a very quiet part of the small town with amazing mountain views to wake up to. The room we had was very clean and comfortably fitted out. We loved the balcony which we could lounge in to stare at the mountains. Parking also wasn't a problem as Franschhoek felt like a very safe place. Thanks Clive and Jeanne for making our stay great!

We only spent one night in Franschhoek but wish we were staying longer. Debbie and Lee were really fantastic hosts...so accommodating and friendly, worked so hard to make the stay a pleasant one. Some have commented on the nearby ‘busy’ road - we live in London so it really wasn’t busy or at all disturbing for us. We slept really well on the comfy bed in the unique little roundhouse. Breakfast was really good - a nice selection of fresh fruit and cereal, fresh coffee and a tasty cooked breakfast prepared to order. Location wise, couldn’t have been better. A short walk into town for a meal, or a quick jaunt to whichever nearby vineyard takes your fancy. It wasn’t really the weather for swimming but the pool looked great too. The dogs were friendly and only around if you want them to be...so don’t be put off if you don’t really like dogs, they are not in your face at all. We really had nothing but positives and hope we get the chance to stay again in the future.

Best for travelers with a car. Country feel with a short drive to wineries and town of Franschoek.

Walking distance to centre of Franschhoek yet idyllic and tranquil. All the staff are attentive, friendly and gracious. Fantastic rooms. Try out the wine tour and visit one of 70 gourmet restaurants while in Franschhoek. The museums and monuments are also well worth a visit for a very enlightening cultural education.

Having stayed in Franschhoek several times this is the best . Within safe walking distance of all the top restaurants

We stayed for a week and it was perfect for our holiday. The hosts Ezna & Danika are superstars, incredibly friendly and did so much for us all week - always offering to organise things and checking everything was ok. Excellent recommendations for wine tasting, meals etc and then of course help booking! Rooms and facilities exactly as advertised and well looked after by the housekeeping staff. Nice breakfasts made to order to start the day. Beautiful views, ideal pool deck, well stocked honesty bar... thing else needed. Great location near Franschhoek, Stellenbosch & in the heart of vineyards - with a hire car everything is easy.

The location of this comfortable guest house is ideally situated a few minutes from the arty town of Franschhoek. There are masses of good restaurants and wineries in the area, and one could quite comfortably spend a week there, wining, dining and sightseeing, yet feel relaxed after a long day out! The restaurant at the on-site winery is unfortunately not open at night, which was a pity, as we would have liked to have one dinner there. The room was lovely - a suite with all the creature comforts one expects! Nights are lovely and quiet too, with the owls hooting in the surrounding forests and a lovely view of the mountains and guest house gardens.

I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. We only stayed for two nights and wish we'd booked to stay longer. The owner couldn't be more helpful. The cottage is really cosy and comfortable with a beautiful bathroom which has an amazing shower as well as a bath. All the little touches have been thought of including fresh coffee and a cafetiere; olive oil, herbs spices etc in the cupboard; and even cling film and foil in the drawer. We were even given local wine and chocolate on arrival. Super place in a good location (10 mins walk from the village center). Don't hesitate to book it.

This place is incredible. When we arrived I was speechless from the sheer beauty. I highly recommend it. The service was so good. I loved the all the people who work there. Kind and hardworking. The facilities are top notch. The pool is lovely. The view IS AMAZING!

Apartment was ideally situated just off the Main Street with close proximity to some of the best restaurants Franschhoek has to offer. The apartment has everything one could need and all the comforts for a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We will be back!

We could not have been happier in our beautiful accommodations at Fransvliet. The detail of design is esquisite on every level. The location is excellent as you are surrounded by some of the best wineries and restaurants. And the view is just spectacular. What a way to enter into South Africa's wine country. Wow! Highly recommend.

My special worlds would go to very attentive & professional personnel as well amazing gastronomic experience that we had there. Ask for avo fritata for brunch and try the set menu in their restaurant for dinner ;)

Upon arriving the staff attentively showed me to my room. The room could have been renovated but was decent for 1 night. Bathroom was incredible (redone obviously) offering all amenities. The staff quickly organised a taxi service which I requested. Breakfast in the morning was superb, nothing was too much to ask for the 2 ladies who served and cooked the food. They were also VERY friendly chatting and advising me about Franschoek.

No detail was missed making our stay very comfortable. Our host presented a warm hospitality and a Christian heart.
