Glasgow hotels & places to stay

Two of us stayed in the Victorian house hotel, mid Feb 2019, for 4 nights. We booked the super king sized room (although, I think we got the king sized room as we had wooden floors, this was not an issue for us at all). Things that were great: Lovely building with lots of character. Location of the hotel was perfect, about 3 min walk and you’re on a main road (Sauchiehall St) in the centre where there are lots of restaurants/cheap eats and couple of mini supermarkets. About a 10 min walk from coach station. Less than 5 min walk to nearest bus stop. Staff were great, welcoming if you have any queries but will give you space otherwise. Our room including the bathroom was very clean and the cleaning staff does a great job. Very easy to stay comfortable in your room. Our room had central heating/radiators which we could change the temp and we had access to windows we could slightly open to get some fresh air in. Bed was super comfy, if I had the choice I probably would’ve spent all day in it! Food was as expected really, nothing special but satisfying enough. They provided hot food (English breakfast items) and a selection of cold items (fruits, cereals, croissants, yoghurts etc), together with a hot/cold drinks machine which you help yourself too. TV was good, didn’t watch much but had a remote. Tea/coffee facilities in the room were also handy. They supplied enough toiletries (soaps, plastic cups, toilet roll) Things to think about it/stuff that can’t be helped: We were staying as they were doing some renovations. Didn’t cause any problems for us at all and they had signs everywhere to warn us and apologise, which was nice. I presume if you came by car you wouldn’t have much space for parking near the hotel as the on road parking spaces were always full (worth calling first to find out more about this as we came by coach). Very studenty area (as you’re down the road to The Glasgow School of Art). Things that could be improved: Apart from an open clothes

Have just returned from a one night stay at the Point A hotel in Glasgow. I was very impressed. Spacious, modern, double room - with extremely comfy bed - and an equally contemporary shower-room with good shower. I paid £5 for breakfast on checking-in as I was unsure of plans on booking - what a bargain that turned out to be! Four items from a beautifully set out chill cabinet plus pot of freshly brewed tea or coffee brought to my table. Don't expect 'extras' such as a fancy lounge area or tea/coffee-making facilities in your room. What you pay for is a clean, functional, modern room in a central location. I was delighted!

A few days away over the half term holiday with a view to visit my nephew and his girlfriend. Accommodation was extremely clean and breakfast included was superb. Room was basic but to be honest for the price I paid for two nights including breakfast, it was an absolute bargain. It was close to the city shops and amenities. Would definitely consider staying again, should I come back to Glasgow. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, even allowing us to drop off our luggage early prior to booking in. Next to station and five minutes away from shops. Beautiful historic hotel with obliging and efficient staff. Great room and ultra clean bathroom. My only niggle was the waiting time at breakfast ... Waiting for eggs to be cooked ... Waiting for juice glasses ... Waiting for more croissants ... Don't let this put you off though - I've stayed in many good hotels in Glasgow and this has been the best-suited to meet all my needs. Fab Champagne Bar too, by the way!

Rooms without a window are a bit of a talking point but they are modern, clean and there are no noises from traffic or revelers. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I don't think I will stay at any other Glasgow hotel in future.

I'm a performer and this August , I was performing in Edinburgh fringe. Me and my gf decided to go to Glasgow for a couple of days after I finish with my show. I looked online and found this guest house which was the best and chippest one. I've read some reviews and it seemed everything is fine with this place. A lot of people said the breakfast is so good. I have to day they were right. I loved the traditional Scottish breakfast they served. There were other sort of breakfasts available for people who don't like full Scottish breakfast. The room was nice and clean and the heating was working perfectly. You will receive your services by a bunch of friendly staff. We left our stuff inside the dining room before check in and after check out. It was a big help for us as we could go around the city without any disturbing bags with us. If I go to Glasgow again, I will definitely go back to this gust house.

This was a budget hotel with a 5 Star service. I couldn't believe how little I paid for the hotel and that it included car parking and an airport shuttle service. We also eat in the hotel and the food was very good. I would highly recommend staying at the hotel if you are flying from Glasgow International airport and have an early morning flight.

Beautiful building a very short walk from Sauchiehall Street, the staff were brilliant, very helpful. Room was basic (maybe a little dated) but clean and the beds were comfortable. Clean en suite, everything you need for a night in Glasgow. My son and I had breakfast, and for what we paid for the room it was fantastic value. A full cooked breakfast, continental options including fruit, pancakes and pastries. Coffee on the pot, and juices to help yourself to. Couldn't ask for anything more at the hotel 😁. The only issue I had which was nothing to do with the hotel - and the receptionist did her best to help with - was parking. The voucher scheme is a little confusing to say the least, there's very little parking on Renfrew Street, all the spaces were taken for the duration of our stay. I managed to park a couple of streets away, and I'm just hoping that was covered by the vouchers as there was no signs to say otherwise.

Excellent Stay in Rennie Mackintosh Hotel in Glasgow. Located just two minutes from the "Union Street" exit of Glasgow Central station, we chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the city centre. The check in was very quick and we were staying on the 3rd floor. NOTE - because of the age of the building, there is no lift, so if you need assistance in carrying bags etc, either have a word with the reception desk or ring them in advance to expect your arrival. It may even be beneficial to request a first floor room. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was included in our rate, but you can choose to not have anything at all / continental breakfast (our rate) or Scottish breakfast. Our continental breakfast was included at £6 pp/day. Scottish cooked breakfast was available for an additional £3pp/day. Rooms cleaned daily and replenished with fresh towels, tv and drinks in room too. Also a very nice lounge + bar is on the first floor.

Me and my teenage daughter loved the raddison red our room was very modern the super hero theme is Amazing and our room was.very spacious and very clean the toilet was massive, loved the shower. We were top floor so we had a view. We also loved the sky bar which u must see if staying at this hotel.The beds have to be one of the best I've slept in and I'd definitely recommend the breakfast, you'll not need to eat anything else all day so much variety from crossiants to cereal to full English. This is also a dog freindly hotel so next time we will be bringing ours, not that we saw many dogs at all. All in all I'd highly recommend this hotel it's modern has Amazing rooms food is lovely and the staff really can't do enough for you, so freindly .we will be coming back

a typical radisson; clean, easy access and good rooms with plenty of space and all the mod cons. good access to the gym and pool next door and as the only 5* hotel in glasgow it does what it says on the tin.

Stayed here with my son for one night after seeing Bruno Mars at Glasgow Green. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was small but perfectly adequate for us. The location was perfect. Only approx. 15 min walk to Glasgow Green and the bus station. The bar that joined onto it was great too. Had a lovely very good value meal before the concert, and a great breakfast the next day. Can't fault the place at all.

This hotel was very inexpensive compared to other local hotels, and most definitely surprised me. It’s in a great location for the arena and Exhibition Centre train station, which is a 4 minute ride to Glasgow Central - or you can walk it in 20 minutes. Free parking, clean and tidy, nice fresh bedding and towels, hospitality tray replaced daily. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It generally felt quite modern and looked after. I don’t know what else to say, other than it was an absolute bargain, and I would stay here again.

Like some other reviewers, I have a sense of unfairness about some of the reviews I read before booking a three night stay in Smiths Hotel. I rang the hotel after booking and they were most accommodating in granting my requests. There were a couple of things that needed putting right when we arrived: these were sorted efficiently and quickly. We found that there was absolutely no communications issue with any of the staff; they were cheerful, obliging and efficient. The hotel is a very short walk from the Kelvingrove, and we were able to walk easily to the city centre and the Byres Road area. (If not, there are buses. Public transport in Glasgow is superb.) Our room (42) was comfortable and spacious. We opted for an en-suite room, and the facilities in the room were really good: kettle, hairdryer, TV, everything clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent: plentiful, tasty and freshly cooked. We felt that the hotel scored very highly on value for money. If you want a five-star hotel, pay a five-star price. If what you want is a bargain, stay here.

After staying at many hotels in Glasgow, I would highly recommend the Blythswood square, as one of the best available. Perfectly located for easy access, to all the main places in central Glasgow. A warm welcome and very helpful staff. Well equipped rooms that are well maintained and looked after.

we had a wonderful overnight stay at the fraser suites in glasgow. we were stunned by just how big the studio apartment that we had booked turned out to be. the room had two tv's, dvd player, ipod dock, a sitting area with couch, cooking facilities and fridge. the room was large, extremely clean and very very comfortable. the staff were helpful and friendly when we checked in and checked out, but we had no problems to speak of during our stay, so we didn't have much cause to bother them with anything. parking next door in a q-park was very convenient and we got overnight parking for £6.50 with the hotel discount, very reasonable for city centre parking. i would recommend these apartments for anybody looking for a short stay in glasgow city centre, it's only a short walk to buchanan street and there are plenty of bars and places to eat nearby.

We had a fab time at the GoGlasgow from start to finish. We travelled up from Manchester but with satnav we found the hotel easily. It's two minutes away from Ibrox. We have travelled extensively and always stayed in 4-5 star hotels. I was rather worried prior to arrival as this hotel is only classed as a 3 star. I needn't have worried as this hotel is definitely worthy of at least 4 stars! The rooms are clean and have everything needed - hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries, big comfy bed with lovely bedding/ pillows, free wifi. The only drawback is that there is no bath :-( Breakfast consisted of everything one would want - cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, preserves and a hot menu which included full breakfasts, haddock, French toast and bacon etc. We dined at the hotel in the evening once during our stay. Service was slow considering the restaurant wasn't that busy and we waited rather too long for our meal. There were 4 of us dining. I had the fillet steak - £24 for 8oz, could also have had a 12oz for £27! It was beautiful but rather overlooked. Hubby had the fish and chips (£11) and said it was gorgeous. The staff throughout the hotel were all friendly, professional and helpful. Our only negative remark about our stay was that upon our return to our room late one evening after being out for a full day we found our door had been left unlocked by the housekeeping. Fortunately we had left nothing of any value in our room and nothing was missing when we returned. This point however needs addressing by hotel management. All in all, we had a fabulous stay and would definitely return to the hotel as well as recommend it to family/friends.

It was good overall, but the windows in the rooms are really small. TV channels are limited and there was no stand for a suitcase in an otherwise very bare hall-way. The bar is dark and uninviting. Slippers were good although bathrobes a bit past their best. However it was still the best hotel we've stayed over the last 20 tears in coming to Glasgow but a good inspection by management would do wonders.

The hotel is well located if you plan to travel mostly by train. It is walking distance to Glasgow Queen Street station as well as Glasgow Central Station. It also located near st enoch centre one of the mall in Glasgow and the argyle steet a pedestrian shopping Rea in mechant city. The bed is comfortable and the room is big enough. However you can not find shampoo, shower cap and hairdryer. You must make sure you put the "make up the room" sign outside the door before 10 AM if you'd like your room to be cleaned up if you stay more than 1 day. I got bad experience that my room was not cleaned until day 3 of my stay although I have left a message to the reception. However, it was lucky that I met the cleaner lady on day 3 when I return to my room at 3 pm (and my room had not cleaned yet), so I directly asked her to clean it on the spot while I was awaiting outside my door.

Stayed 1 night in Glasgow. Hotel is located about a 30 minute walk from the city centre (which is a bit far) but has many other nice things around in the area to see and some nice eateries as well. We stopped at an Indian restaurant on the way about 1-2 minutes which was really nice. The hotel is in good condition, very well presented, rooms are clean and well furnished. Overall the hotel itself is very very good. Staff are also friendly and accommodating. I recommend this hotel if you don't mind being a bit outside the city center.

Super hotel, perfect location, well appointed rooms, caring and efficient staff, nice restaurant and lovely bar. I reported after departure that I had lost a cufflink somewhere in my room, and this was promptly discovered and airmailed tom y home in Hong Kong: very impressive service indeed. Would recommend this hotel strongly to even the most discerning traveller and would stay again on any future visit to Glasgow. Only minor niggle was the absence of a room safe requring me to carry around all my valuable in a rucksack, but then nowhere is perfect!

The Service apartment is located right opposite George Square snack in the Centre of Glasgow shopping area. Lots of restaurants around and a stone throw’s away from the tube station. Very spacious apartment with living room, open concept kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, nespresso machine, cooking utensils and cutleries. Cleaning services are only once a week. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Glasgow.

Front desk was also helpful and kind. Great location and clean rooms. Service was also great and helpful too. Will definitely use this place again the next time we visit Glasgow

Booked this hotel last minute and for under £35 got a clean, quiet, single ensuite room with a decent cooked breakfast. Also tea and coffee were supplied in my room which was great. All staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful, location was excellent as I wanted to be based in the West End of Glasgow. Would recommend to other travellers who don't want to pay a fortune for a night's sleep.

Excellent professional but extremely polite and friendly staff. Rooms very clean and facilities great. Breakfast more than adequate and great choice. This is second time we have had short break in Glasgow at this hotel. Only short taxi ride to the SSC and short down hill stroll to city centre, so may require short taxi ride back, if slight hill an issue. There is a safe 24 hr car park directly opposite hotel and the hotel can get you a discount. will definitely be back.

Generally a nice hotel, with warm friendly staff. Great location in the central of Glasgow with good links to the airport and railway stations. Very close to the nightlife with choice of many types of cuisine within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. Rooms were a good size. Access to a gym and sauna on the 6 floor with a good view of Glasgow.

A nice little hotel in the heart of the city. Our room was small, but spotlessly clean as was the bathroom, obviously newly fitted. The view was a brick courtyard but we didn't come to Glasgow to sit in the room and look out the window 😀For £80 for three people on a Saturday night in December, a steal.
