Do stop by the 12 Apostles to soak in the beautiful sights of the ocean and the stacks. The view along the Great Ocean Road is also amazing, and unless you get car-sick, I would highly recommend the route along the coastline.
Apollo Bay is a great stopover. Shops closes early so not a lot of nightlife there so be sure to arrive early for dinner and all.
Rented a car from East Coast Car Rental for a day and drove along GOR till London's Bridge (past Port Campbell) and back to Melbourne CBD.
Stayed over at Apollo Bay for the night before continue driving back to Melbourne CBD at 4.30am. Overall it was great!
Driving along the Great Ocean Road is MUST try kind of experience for you. Those sceneries are breath taking and i could easily take a picture of postcard kind of view from it.
Definitely one of the thing i will never be boring of doing it again and again.
A city you will passby when travelling from Melbourne CBD to Great Ocean Road's 12 apostles. A nice little and it is certainly a worthwhile place for a good retreat.
The Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles is a must-see for those visiting Melbourne. I would recommend taking a drive along this route to get to the 12 Apostles.
This is because there are many lookout points with breathtaking views that tour buses may not cover. Apollo Bay would be the last stop for food and rest before continuing the journey.
The drive along The Great Ocean Road is stunning and is great if you can do it in a leisurely fashion.
We advise staying for a night in Apollo Bay as it allowed us to take in the sights.
Apollo Bay is quite central on the Great Ocean Road. It is a lot quieter than Lorne or Warrnambool. There was not a great deal to do other than dining as there were no hotels with bands/ live music.
Apollo bay is one of the most popular stopover at Great Ocean Road. The town is facing the ocean, plenty of restaurants, definitely a good location for a stop over.
I thought it was the perfect location for a short stay along the Great Ocean Road. Everything you need is there -- food, supermarket and a big visitor's centre.
The atmosphere and views took my breath away and I was so sad to leave the place. Will definitely recommend it.
A nice and quiet town. Recommended to rest for the night then continue next day's journey. There is petrol station, supermarket and restaurants.
breath taking views. dunt miss out the wildlife reserve on the road and render your support. travel up to port cambell stopping over at every signboard that is brown as it demarkets a tourist attraction.
its really good location. i arrive there at night 11:45pm and the staff arrange milk and everything for me.
infact office is close but they arrange all thing for me and leave one note so i can know where is everything its really good and i am very happy from location and service
I have been to Apollo bay multiple times, on a family holiday one Christmas, on a long weekend stay with friends in a rented house, a weekend with my partner and the most recent time to complete the Great ocean road marathon.
Apollo bay is a great place to base yourself to seek out the Great ocean road. About 45 minutes drive away are the 12 apostles which are a must see. Nearby there is a tree top walk which I highly recommend. Lots of great cafe's and restaurants to enjoy a meal.
Bit far to travelled if you are coming from small country. many things to see, national parks and beaches.
Great drive, lots of place for sightseeing, you can actually stopover for pictures and lunch. drive through rain forest.
you can see national park.
It was the best scenic drive I've ever been on. Have travelled in the US and Europe and this on by far is one of drives not to be missed.
Don't expect to drive along the Ocean the whole way! It's a really nice long drive, but it includes lots of forest in the middle.
There are limited choices for food along the Great Ocean Road, but most of the food are nice & Ok~ Not a good place for shopping! Not many shops around, and they don't open till later. (This is in the Apollo Bay area) The place is absolutely beautiful & a must go~ I went in Winter, so didn't see much surfing, but I'm sure it'll be even better in Summer! Have fun!
its like a beach in paradise. one of the best driving area. similar beauty but with different natural color shades that makes it a great formation from the past that is still attractive.
