aha The Rex Hotel
Knysna Central,Knysna - View on map
"I travelled with my elderly mom. We enjoyed almost 99% of what this hotel can offer. The base was perfect for exploring the town of Knysna. The reception staff were polite & helpful- Clarence & Sandswa in particular! Breakfast was adequate & varied. However I do have to point out that if you are NON WHITE the breakfast staff will not pay you much attention. Be prepared to fight for attention over coffee choices or any sort of help. I didn’t even know you can order a variety of coffee options or your eggs cooked to your preference until it was offered to my ‘white’ diners next to me & hence not me. My brown skin is not worthy perhaps?Unfortunately in a small South African town like Knysna, white skin still trumps. Ps. Natasha the accountant must learn to drink her coffee at her desk instead of the breakfast nook reception. It is very disconcerting to see an employee languidly drinking her coffee & unwilling to help you. Surely Rex provides proper desks for coffee consumption to their admin staff? "

Pezula Nature Hotel and Spa
Sparrebosch,Knysna - View on map
"We loved this hotel. Pure luxury and comfort. The only thing is the suite says it has a kitchenette but it's not what I would call a kitchenette. It is just a sink and a kettle/coffee machine. No microwave or toaster or anything like that - so it's not really a kitchenette in my opinion. The restaurants could do with more (and much better) vegetarian options. Otherwise pure comfort and luxury in a beautiful location. Would definitely stay here again."

Protea Hotel by Marriott Knysna Quays
Knysna Central,Knysna - View on map
"We really enjoyed our stay here, everything about this hotel was perfect for an enjoyable stay in Knysna. The location is excellent, right down on the waterfront and just a few steps from shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast offered a great choice and variety of food. Staff were polite and efficient. The bedroom was very comfortable, with 2 double beds. Most of all, we want people to know about our story of employee honesty. When we arrived back home to Ireland, we discovered that our Kindle book reader was missing, so we tried to retrace our steps through the various accommodations where we had stayed on the Garden Route. After receiving 'not found' messages from all, including Protea Knysna, we were thrilled and delighted to receive a call from Candice in Protea to say they had found it. we made arrangements for it's safe return and Protea could not have been more helpful. Thank you for your great honesty!!"

The Turbine Hotel and Spa
Paradise,Knysna - View on map
"We were in Turbine Hotel during 2 days of our Honeymoon. The hotel has a nice situation in Thesen Islands (Knysna), close to sea, shops and restaurant. The structure is original. We booked a suite and specified that we were on honeymoon. We got a room which was called a suite with view on the swimming pool but it looked so small... Furthermore, the restaurant is nice with good food. For breakfast, there is no buffet, you have to order one meal within 6 or 7. The Spa is a little bit expensive. We spent a nice we but we do not consider this hotel as a 5* but more a 4*."

Abalone Lodges
Old Place,Knysna - View on map
"We stayed at the Abalone Lodges one night. My wife and I in one cabin and our daughter and her husband in the another. Clean, quiet, picturesque, AC, accommodating staff. A little off the beaten path, but well worth a few minutes away from the busy center of Knysna. We would recommend this to anyone passing through and needing a place to stay in that area."
