Kudat is not geared for tourism at all, however if you enjoy experiencing local culture it has a very interesting market and fish market to wander through, and the main part of town is quite pretty with large shady trees down the middle of the road.
The locals are very friendly and there are quite a few about who speak English. Near the Resort, there is a marina but it is not in good condition and has no running water (inc. no showers/toilets) or power. There is also a boat haul-out facility with a travel-lift but the boats are supported in the yard by concrete blocks - true!
Its a place you go to get away from the hectic life of town. There is not much attraction or place of interest but has GREAT seafood! I suggest you come here 2-3 days to sleep and eat and enjoy the calmness in life.
The town is so quiet. I want to do jet ski but it seems like no service for tht. We went to milimewa, a shopping building and it smells like there was a dead whale died near there.
Its from the market. Eew.. luckily our hotel was away from there. I like simpang menggayau. Its a beautiful place ti visit. U didnt visit kudat if u didnt go there. Its a must.
Kudat town is truly boring and not worth to visit a place like this with long distance travelling. The signboard along its roads is misleading.
I would only recommend tourists to just visit Tanjung Simpang Mengayau and stay in its nearby hotels/resorts.
beautiful beaches about, some of which are excellent for surfing, while others are good for watching lonely cattle and blood-red sunsets.
Town centre looks like it was all centrally planned and built in the 1980s. The shops are in tidy rows with small park strips in between.
The town is actually bigger than it appears from the main road. At the western end of town, there's a good kids' playground and night food stalls.
Before you start travel to Kudat, please full fill your petrol tank cause Kota Belud towards Kudat there is NO PETROL STATION.
Otherwise you will stranded in the midle of no where..
There's nothing special about Kudat if you compare with the other towns in Sabah but still worth to visit!
Local delicacies are available at central market. Famous fried noodle stall is at first floor of market.
