More about Marseille

On the southern coast of France is the city of Marseille, one of Europe’s oldest cities. Boasting the biggest Mediterranean port, Marseille is a cultural melting pot and the economic hub of the Provence-Aples-Cote d’Azur region. This has led it to become the second largest French city. Marseille-Provence International Airport brings in international travelers, and a system of buses, taxis, and a train connect to the city 30km away.

Marseille is filled with sights and experiences. Those looking to get into the city’s history can visit places like the Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne or the Vieux Port. The latter, which is the old harbor, is considered a must as this is where fisherman’s auction off their stock. Catching a show on a summer evening will be a highlight when coupled with the amazing views provided by the area. Boulevard Longchamp leads to Palais Longchamp with old upper-class buildings being showcased along the way. MuCEM, Notre Dame de la Garde, and Le Panier are but a few more sights open for exploration. If looking for leisure or recreation, visitors can head to the Corniche or any of the beaches such as Catalans, Prophetes, Pointe-Rouge, and Corbieres. The selection of accommodation is diverse and appeals to all travelers – from budget backpackers to those looking to splurge on a high-end stay.
