Hotel Kaveka
Maharepa,Moorea Island - View on map
"We stayed at Kaveka several nights and were really happy with our decision to spend most of the time in Moorea at this place. The price is quite ok for French Polynesia and the bungalow was nicely decorated in polynesian style. Rooms were quite modern and clean. Staff was very helpful and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere as there were not many guests around. We would definitely return to this place again in the future. It is possible to walk within 10-15 minutes to MAhareepa, where there are small shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, banks and a post office."

Manava Beach Resort and Spa - Moorea
Maharepa,Moorea Island - View on map
"We stayed at Pearl Resort and Spa for 6 nights. Were were in a family room, duplex type. Plenty of space. Rooms were cleaned daily, althought at random times. Apart from CNN there were no English channels available so not alot of tv watching at night. Room was airconditioned and sometime we had to keep it on during the night. It occasionally made loud noises but no big deal. Beds were pretty comfortable. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Pool is the largest on the island and is child-friendly. Beach was cleaned all the time and the water was crystal clear. Lots of different fish can be seen by the bungalows so if you are into snorkeling you will enjoy it. Apart from breakfast we didnt eat the the restaurant. Prices were pretty high compared to some other vacation spots but it is French Polynesia. Maharepa is only few minutes walk from the resort and you can get some groceries from the local mini market. There is a great, cheap restaurant across the road from the resort. Many locals eat there. Not opened on Tuesdays and Wednesdays unfortunately. Room service was good and food prepared very quickly. The only minor thing thats lacking is some form of entertainment in the evening. Apart from Tahitian show there is no alot happening. Excursion to Lagoonarium was the highlight of our holiday. It is a must do. You can have it arranged by a lovely Japanese lady at the hotel in the main lobby. Overall a fabulous holiday. We would recommend it and would definitely return to Moorea Pearl Resort and Spa. "

Moorea Surf Inn
Vai'anae,Moorea Island - View on map
"Tamas, the owner, was extremely helpful and nice! On the terrace, we watched perhaps the most beautiful sunsets from all our trips in French Polynesia and afterwards, the sky full of stars. Feeling at ease and enjoying wonderful nature and the company of other nice people staying at the hotel! I would recommend to have a car though, although anywhere in Moorea it would be highly recommended, at least for part of the time. There were bikes provided to go to a supermarket or so though."

"Wonderful hosts, happy to include us in trips to the bank, grocery, etc. Great location next to the Hilton, but also with its own private beach. Our bungalow was large with full kitchen. Think beach house or summer cabin. Nice common room for relaxation. We enjoyed a trrrific meal, reasonably priced, made by Jean and his family. If you want luxury, go to the Hilton, but this is a nice economical alternative."

"The stay was great. The prices in the hotel are extremely expensive. Take beverage and some food with you. This hotel has the best location in Moorea Island. As there are only bungalows (not rooms), the hotel cater for maximum 200 guests what makes it nicely quiet. "

Fare Tokoau
Hauru,Moorea Island - View on map
"Very kind hosts, Alex and Tea, went above and beyond to help me navigate the island -- made arrangements for a local restaurant to come pick me up for dinner (!) and also called the local bus operator AND the owner of other pensione I was staying at later in the week to make transfer arrangements. SO HELPFUL. It was like staying with family. Fare Tokoau is a bit removed from restaurants/groceries/shops, but with free access to a bike (albeit a rusty one), it was easy to get to. Also free kayaks on site to paddle to the island or just to a nearby snorkel spot. LOVED the little book in the room - it had maps and local information and was adorable. Room was ample size, large bathroom, kitchen that was sufficient for my needs. Small downsides were occasional mosquito swarms outside and that the AC in my room didn't work plus the overhead fan was weak... made for some hot nights of sleeping. But overall, for $90/night, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for your hospitality!"
