"Tamas, the owner, was extremely helpful and nice! On the terrace, we watched perhaps the most beautiful sunsets from all our trips in French Polynesia and afterwards, the sky full of stars. Feeling at ease and enjoying wonderful nature and the company of other nice people staying at the hotel! I would recommend to have a car though, although anywhere in Moorea it would be highly recommended, at least for part of the time. There were bikes provided to go to a supermarket or so though."

"If you can't afford an over water bungalow on Moorea, then this place will suffice if you don't mind simplicity. We wished we had booked more than two nights as we could just sit and look at the lagoon. The lagoon isn't great here so you'll need transportation to get around, taxis cost a fortune. The restaurant isn't great - but that's all over French Polynesia, unless you want to spend a lot of money."

"Wonderful hosts, happy to include us in trips to the bank, grocery, etc. Great location next to the Hilton, but also with its own private beach. Our bungalow was large with full kitchen. Think beach house or summer cabin. Nice common room for relaxation. We enjoyed a trrrific meal, reasonably priced, made by Jean and his family. If you want luxury, go to the Hilton, but this is a nice economical alternative."

"I manage 25 vacation rental homes on the north coast of Oregon hence know the Sunset Beach Residence facility on the beautiful island of Moorea is a good one. New, clean, adequate stocked units are idea for a family and folks who don't like the resort scene. Really liked the deck. However, folks that don't speak french or don't know the area may struggle to procure food and amusement even though Matteau and his staff were excellent."

"You have just arrived in French Polynesia after a long overnight flight and you want to experience the real Moorea...forget about all these big resorts that lack personality and go to Fenua Mata'i'oa instead. This little gem offers all you wish for and more: a lovely room surrounded by a really lush garden with lovely sea views for you to enjoy. Unlike large resorts it is very peaceful despite having everything on your doorstep. Food is outstanding too...epic breakfasts and local dishes for dinner:...Eileen will not let you starve!! Eileen, the proud owner of this hidden gem, makes this place even more special. She will make sure you have the best possible time here and will look after you exceptionally well. Trust her when she recommends activities or places to see: she knows best and we were never disappointed. We had an amazing stay and would definitely come back. Eileen can be proud of her place: it's intimate, welcoming, quirky and full of character...what else would you need...many thanks!!!"

"We stayed at Pearl Resort and Spa for 6 nights. Were were in a family room, duplex type. Plenty of space. Rooms were cleaned daily, althought at random times. Apart from CNN there were no English channels available so not alot of tv watching at night. Room was airconditioned and sometime we had to keep it on during the night. It occasionally made loud noises but no big deal. Beds were pretty comfortable. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Pool is the largest on the island and is child-friendly. Beach was cleaned all the time and the water was crystal clear. Lots of different fish can be seen by the bungalows so if you are into snorkeling you will enjoy it. Apart from breakfast we didnt eat the the restaurant. Prices were pretty high compared to some other vacation spots but it is French Polynesia. Maharepa is only few minutes walk from the resort and you can get some groceries from the local mini market. There is a great, cheap restaurant across the road from the resort. Many locals eat there. Not opened on Tuesdays and Wednesdays unfortunately. Room service was good and food prepared very quickly. The only minor thing thats lacking is some form of entertainment in the evening. Apart from Tahitian show there is no alot happening. Excursion to Lagoonarium was the highlight of our holiday. It is a must do. You can have it arranged by a lovely Japanese lady at the hotel in the main lobby. Overall a fabulous holiday. We would recommend it and would definitely return to Moorea Pearl Resort and Spa. "
