Although our late night taxi drive from the airport to the hotel did take us through a sketchy are of downtown Nairobi, at no time did we feel unsafe. And when we arrived at the Best Western Meridian Plus, the extensive security and lighting allied any second thoughts we were having. Once inside, this hotel was as good, if not better, than any of the Best Westerns we have previously stayed in. Their included breakfast was not just continental, but a full service buffet. I would also mention the hotel is only minutes away, by cab, to the Nairobi Museum of Natural History. The Museum is worth at least a full morning of your time!”

“This hotel is frequented by visitors to UNON. Rooms are small but clean though the bathrooms are very small. The hotel offers a free shuttle to UNON in the morning and has a reasonable 2000 KS transport fee to and from the airport. Breakfast was quite basic. The hotel also offers a taxi service, but I found that Uber was much cheaper. Also, UN staff should check with the hotel if the UN rate is cheaper than what's advertised.”

The hotel driver took us to the terminal at 2.30am, no charge no hassle. 5 minute trip. On top of the convenience, the hotel is very very new, room was great, comfy pillows and bed, awesome shower. Staff very friendly. Security is strong. Dinner proces reasonable. Would definitely stay again. Hotels in Nairobi seemed expensive across the board when I looked, so given comparitives, Lazizi was worth it for the convenience.”

This hotel hosts many different activities and there is a flow of local people. A definite plus if you want to see the culture. With respect to the hotel, it is quiet, clean, well located and has an excellent kitchen. I was there for 1 week and every meal was excellent. What is missing to be over-all excellent 3 star hotel, is a lounge area and a business center. However this is not a big problem because most people lounge on the patio / dinner area and the front desk will help you with whatever business needs you have. Every day I had several meetings on the patio and there were never any problems. As a plus, it is also a conference center and 1 day I held a meeting with 35 people. Prices were very good and things went without a hitch. We were offered a tea/coffee break, with snacks and a full buffet lunch. Everyone was impressed. What more does a business man need to do. I would suggest this hotel to anyone. Negative comments are from people who book 3 star hotels and expect 5 star conditions. Disregard them. When you travel you need to experience things, not expect the same as back home. If you want the same as back home, then stay home.”

“There is an URGENT need to review the security at the entrance. Customers, including those who may have just arrived from the airport with their luggage, are made to disembark from their cars, take out their luggage from the cars, their cars are searched in their absence, luggage taken through the security scans, then they return to the cars and then drive into the hotel. These customers to the hotel can potentially be attacked at the gate by thieves because the entrance is literally on the street. Any security checks should be done right inside the hotel and not OUTSIDE! This is very WRONG!”

Like most hotels in Nairobi, there is a strange addiction to providing buffets where all the food taste the same. A good bet is to not get the buffet for dinner and just have a decent hamburger in the bar in the lobby.”

The location is great for visiting the Nairobi National Park, and close to the rest of town by car *if* you aren't traveling during rush hour. Serah and Ronny and the rest of their family are fantastic hosts - they helped arranged a driver to take us around town for a day, were always available for assistance and advice about what to do around Nairobi, and they provided delicious food and excellent conversation. I highly recommend this facility for a Nairobi homestay experience.”

“We really like Wildebeest Eco Camp as it felt like a retreat from the busy vibe of Nairobi. We stayed at the Camp in a Cottage Suite upon arrival in Nairobi from Vancouver. Long flights and needed a place to recoup from Jetlag before we left on safari. This was a great place to do just that. Food was nice. However I'd recommend sticking to the traditional fare vs any western versions of dishes. Staff was super nice and the property was calm and peaceful. Lots of birds.”

“LOVED the friendly staff, sumptuous breakfasts and spacious rooms. Wi-fi was available, albeit excruciatingly slow. I stayed in 3 different rooms in 3 weeks, and all were large but one was filled with clunky furniture, had no hangers and a TV that did not work. Hotel is in the auto mechanic part of town so as a solo female, I opted to hire a moto guy to take me to Nakumatt for shopping instead of walking. (The staff also recommended this). Staff booked the moto and taxis for me, kept my bags safe when I was away for a week, and had breakfast ready in a bag when I had early departures. All in all, I was very satisfied with my stay at the Eron, and will definitely stay there again when I return to Nairobi in the future.”

“This is a budget hostel and you really get what you pay for. The double room was small with limited room for two people and their luggage but, luckily, we were travelling light! It was basic but the room was cleaned everyday to a good standard. The top covers of the beds were stained - they may have been clean but the stains were a little off putting. Along the open corridor, there were two sofas and a table. This became our 'office' as were were a group of 4 travelling together and needed a space to meet and work. There was a wifi connection to each room, which was largely reliable. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was included and was okay. We asked to change rooms as the bed was so uncomfortable. This was done. Our new room had a more comfortable bed but no toilet seat. Overall, the rooms are a little run down but could be fixed up cheaply.”

“While the location is very out of the way of the action, our stay at Upperhill was fabulous. We experienced excellent service from the start, with the check in process very quick. After spending 7 weeks in Africa experiencing dodgy internet, we were relived to find the wifi free and fast. Beers in the bar were cheap, and we got some free crisps with the beer. We had just stayed at the Hilton the previous night for twice the price, and the Upperhill was far superior in its service, value for money and quality of the room, which was modern. We had a very early flight to catch in the morning, and the staff had organised a cab, and came up to knock on the door as a wake up call, without being asked. All in all, highly recommend if you're after somewhere that's inexpensive and a little quieter than central Nairobi.”

Easily you could book a good room in many hotels in Nairobi City for around USD 50 but I did this booking since it's very convenient for me all these time. I have booked many rooms before and this is the first time I got caught to a trap like this with this La Jardine Hotel in Nairobi. Very small room with a commod and one Wash Basin. No A/C & No remote control for your TV. All those were OK since I was there only for one night till I get my flight next day morning but can you believe there is No Water or No Toilet Paper in your room !! I did not wait for any b/fast hurried to another hotel to get myself ready for the flight.”

Currently major road upgrades taking place outside hotel, which ruins the view to the city a little, no noise impact at all. The best views are from the verandah bar looking over the park, beautiful spot for a quiet drink or meal. Good hotel, perhaps a little over priced.”

“Great location and lovely staff, but I won’t be recommending this place. We had a two night booking, but ended up cutting our stay short as the hot water lasted only about five minutes, the toilet refused to flush. We were switched to a different room thereafter, but again found the hot water problem. The rooms use old fashion water heaters that take forty plus minutes to heat water for one person to take a very rushed shower with zero pressure. We tried bathing our little kids in the bath, but the water turned to ice when the water had barely covered their little legs. A hotel charging the amount Wasini does really needs electric showers with good pressure and bathtubs that one can fill with hot water higher than ones toes. I left feeling very disappointed as we had been very excited about staying at a supposedly fancy hotel.”

“The hotel has lovely grounds and a well manicured golf course. The rooms are however a far cry from the stunning views. Old, badly in need of repair and no amount of cleaning seemed to improve the bad state of the rooms. There was an unbearable heat wave in Nairobi during my 9-day stay which made the room almost uninhabitable in 30 degree C conditions. The food ranges from average to bad. The only saving grace was the hospitable staff. Edward’s a gracious gentleman and someone every guest must meet, Minayo was friendly, very efficient and easy to talk to. Da son was also helpful. Beatrice from guest relations was incredible and Fariya was also helpful. Thanks to Janet and Angie for their dutiful work in cleaning the rooms. The manager was however not easily accessible and only spoke to me during check out. While I would be hesitant to go back nor recommend the place to others, I must say that the staff really did their best given the state of the hotel.”

“I stayed at the Sarova Panafic Nairobi as a single woman for 2 weeks on november/December and was constantly amazed by the staff. Their professionalism and friendliness was outstanding. Whether it was the concierge, receptions staff, restaurant staff, housekeeping or security, all bent over backwards to ensure every need was catered to. The rooms had a lovely outlook and when my first room was too noisy , they didn't hesitate to change it. I have never felt more welcome or cared for in a hotel , despite having travelled extensively over the years.”

“Nairobi Safari Club is a well located hotel. The surrounding streets are wide and the neighbourhood feels safe to walk in. Gloria Jeans Coffee House is a mere 5 minute walk and CJ's restaurant is also very close. The hotel has an "old school" charm to it and the rooms are very spacious. That being said...they are looking tired and could do with some upgrading and renovating e.g. in our room was a 2 seater pull out couch which was a nice surprise to find as it made relaxing in the evenings a little easier but...you could feel the frame on the arm rests and the springs in the seat. If you leant back in to it, the couch seat slid away from the back rest! WE did encounter a medical issue whilst staying there and the young girl at the front desk was very helpful.”

Staff are generally amazing however I was moved 2 times over a 4 night stay after asking to be moved from a substandard room. Staff were amazing but the reservations department needs to be better organised and apply a customer first mentality.”

Swimming pool not clean. It’s an ok hotel if u r staying a few days but are on the move for meetings so u just need a decent place to crash for the night.”

Any intruder can enter the room through the windows easily. Agoda says it’s 4 Star. Hotel says 3 Star. It’s difficult to recommend for a business traveller”

“A nice hotel with all the facilities of a 5 star hotel. Great breakfast though the dinner options were not convincing for the demanding customer. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. A very good place to relax, transit or sleep while attending a conference or doing a transit over Nairobi. There is a very lovely and quiet swimming pool area but shame it is not heated. The hotel lacks green areas and entertainment. The hotel rates do not include breakfast. Expect to pay an extra of around USD30 for breakfast. Airport drop offs are USD25 and this also needs to be paid for.”
