Best hotels & accommodations in Nairobi

Cloud Hotel is back under new management with friendly staff, clean rooms, fast WiFi, good food and great facilities. If your willing to spend a lot more, you could probably find something better in Nairobi, but for the price point it is outstanding value and very comfortable in every way that matters.

These are the simple heavens in Nairobi which I feel are way too underrated. This place is awesome . Provides the modern feeling of modern traveling . The food at the restaurant was worth every penny . I tend to feel this hotel does not get the attention it deserves . Any time I am in kenya I will gladly reside at the royal tulip.

I have stayed at a number of hotels in Nairobi over the years and this is the best by far, as for the quality of the facilities it provides excellent value. The staff are very warm and helpful and make sure you have a great stay, the food in the restaurants is of a very high quality. The rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend a stay here...

Nothing to add to my title: From the moment I stepped in, it was a great place to stay if you are visiting Nairobi. It’s also close by the city center and you can walk when the weather is good. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. I will return to stay in here when I visit Nairobi again, hope it is sooner than later.

It was fine. There was a very comfortable bed, the staff were very well trained and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and found the food to be some of the best hotel food we have tasted in Nairobi. The main issue is the price. It is expensive compared to most other good Nairobi hotels so offers rooms that cost more than can be afforded on a regular basis. So we can...

It was a pleasant stay. It is safe and the best location you can find in Nairobi. The staff is helpful and nice. Don´t expect the same Hilton room standards like what you get used to in the past, but still is the best choice when in Nairobi. And it is 100% safe.

We booked this hotel based on the reputation of Best Western Hotels. Since we had never been to Nairobi, we had no idea where the hotel is located. Although our late night taxi drive from the airport to the hotel did take us through a sketchy are of downtown Nairobi, at no time did we feel unsafe. And when we arrived at the Best Western Meridian Plus, the extensive sec...

Prior to and after being on safari I have found this hotel to be a real haven as a stop over to just rest or reorganise for the next leg of my Kenyan journey. Not too badly priced compared to equivalent hotels in same area. Staff are very welcoming and try to accommodate you in the best way they can. Beds are luxurious and hotel is generally quiet. A very pleasant stay...

I have been to Nairobi many times for the embassy but I wish I would have found this place before. So close to the US embassy and so close to village market. We walked there a couple times in our stay and only took us 15 minutes. The staff was incredibly friendly and so helpful. We ran into a problem right away with our money and they helped so quickly. Thank you! And ...

This hotel is frequented by visitors to UNON. Rooms are small but clean though the bathrooms are very small. The hotel offers a free shuttle to UNON in the morning and has a reasonable 2000 KS transport fee to and from the airport. Breakfast was quite basic. The hotel also offers a taxi service, but I found that Uber was much cheaper. Also, UN staff should check with t...

For those who have experienced Nairobi traffic, you will appreciate the importance of an airport hotel. We had a 5am flight. Lazizi is located in the airport precinct, within the car security point. The hotel driver took us to the terminal at 2.30am, no charge no hassle. 5 minute trip. On top of the convenience, the hotel is very very new, room was great, comfy pillow...

As a business traveler I don't like to stay in 5 star hotels. Around the world, they are all the same so you are culturally lost in space. Even the customers are all he same. This hotel hosts many different activities and there is a flow of local people. A definite plus if you want to see the culture. With respect to the hotel, it is quiet, clean, well located a...

been here twice. first time dec 2016 was descent enough to recommend. the trip this month oct 2017 was horrible. staff at front desk very impatient and rude. didn't show much interest in any of my rational/hotel related request. location is perfect: close to restaurants, malls, nightlife. Facilities is perfect: bar & grill on top floor, gym (sauna), restaurant. Overall...

There is an URGENT need to review the security at the entrance. Customers, including those who may have just arrived from the airport with their luggage, are made to disembark from their cars, take out their luggage from the cars, their cars are searched in their absence, luggage taken through the security scans, then they return to the cars and then drive into the hot...

I was very happy to stay at Norfolk because it was perfect situated in quiet area and close to everything, walking distance to National Museum, University and Restaurants in Westland. The pool area could be more five star..........I would give 3 star there. The menue in Restaurants are good but for vegetarian like I am not so much option. Also here could be more five s...

Overall the stay was pleasant. The room is very comfortable, albeit a bit old. For example there is not even a flat screen TV for $300+ US a night. In the club room, there was an old and small TV. The staff at the front desk were accommodating and friendly. The hotel does have a gym, but it is very small. If you are a fitness addict, The Crowne Plaza nearby does h...

For a businessman like me who is always on the move this is a perfect hotel with a very reasonable price tag. It had all the arrangements for a comfortable rest and sleep. Attentive staff and clean and cozy rooms probably the best within the price charged. For a Muslim traveller it is not advisable for food. When contacted the restaurant they were very kind enough to ...

Good hotel for the executive business traveller. Excellent for entertaining the people I was visiting with in Nairobi. Provided a car transfer from the Nairobi airport and all of the staff were continually very helpful and most pleasant. Food was very good standard throughout the day. Room service and breakfast very good. The hotel played a key role in ensuring I ...

The best part of my stay here was the super kind and friendly staff of the hotel. Location is quite far from Nairobi CBD but it makes it more good to me as it is away from the noisy and crowded streets. There’s a nearby supermarket where you can buy your needs.

It's not easy to find economical accommodation close to the airport in Nairobi. But Wonderhouse Home Stay is as good as it gets! Carolyne and her husband are excellent hosts, friendly, helpful and ready to make sure you have what you need. Highly recommended!

My partner and I stayed in one of the studio rooms for two nights. The location is great for visiting the Nairobi National Park, and close to the rest of town by car *if* you aren't traveling during rush hour. Serah and Ronny and the rest of their family are fantastic hosts - they helped arranged a driver to take us around town for a day, were always available for assi...

We really like Wildebeest Eco Camp as it felt like a retreat from the busy vibe of Nairobi. We stayed at the Camp in a Cottage Suite upon arrival in Nairobi from Vancouver. Long flights and needed a place to recoup from Jetlag before we left on safari. This was a great place to do just that. Food was nice. However I'd recommend sticking to the traditional far...

This is a very nice hotel which is a bit underprized in comparison to similar hotels in Nairobi. The place is just marvelous. There is a rooftop and a nice bar on top of it all.I will always stay here when I am Nairobi for sure. Its very hard to get more value for money.

LOVED the friendly staff, sumptuous breakfasts and spacious rooms. Wi-fi was available, albeit excruciatingly slow. I stayed in 3 different rooms in 3 weeks, and all were large but one was filled with clunky furniture, had no hangers and a TV that did not work. Hotel is in the auto mechanic part of town so as a solo female, I opted to hire a moto guy to take me to Nak...

Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was included in our room price and was OK. Be aware that the hotel doesn't have elevators. Hotels organized airport pick up and arranges for drivers/taxis. Despite being located close to high traffic road, the room was surprisingly quiet. Great place to stay a night or two

While the location is very out of the way of the action, our stay at Upperhill was fabulous. We experienced excellent service from the start, with the check in process very quick. After spending 7 weeks in Africa experiencing dodgy internet, we were relived to find the wifi free and fast. Beers in the bar were cheap, and we got some free crisps with the beer. We had...

Very small and badly equipped apartment for that money! Had no mosquito net.... a second gowel for my wife was denied... then delivered at 11pm! No reception desk... you have to telephone to some obscure person... The sourroundings are disgusting!! Very specially at nights! I stayed 3 nights. Will not recomment it.

at eron we got great value for my money. The staff where so kindnot forgetting the manager Franco Wandabwa who was so willing to compromise anything for the comfort of th client. The girls at the recieption, and all th security when extremely helpful. He hotel is a very budget friendly place and the meals are great. We felt at him and would definitely go back.its in t...

They allowed me to sleep (as I arrived at 5:30am) before checking in. The facility is so quiet I dozed off as soon as I’ve reached the bed. You can hear the birds chirp and the sound of your breathing lol. It is that quiet. Big area for walking and just breathing nature in. They offer full board including tea time so you don’t have to go outside. It is located in Karen...

I was really delighted. Last time (I travel to Nairobi quite often for business) the hotel was not nice. Please let me disregard the name of the other place. And Sirona was a nice change. Good value for money (work for an NGO and always travel on a small budget; the less we spend on ourselves the more we can contribute to our beneficiaries, and they really need suc...

I have been very happy to find a B&B so nice and with an extremely friendly staff. I lived in kenya for many years in the past and traveled to Nairobi many times and this time i decided to look for a mid range guest house that made me feel like like i was in my former house. I chose this place online just by chance, and i have to say i was surprised, as the villa reall...

Having lived in Nairobi years ago and knowing it very well, landing in this place in the beautiful spring valley of westlands left me every day feeling it to be good to be true. The green location, the house, room and lovely host Susan all guarantee a perfect stay in the finest part of Nairobi at an incredible rate. Note: a venue in Parklands carries the same name, so ...

Arrived in Nairobi late and Kenya Comfort was convenient as the bus dropped us off out front. We stayed for a short stay prior to heading off on safari. Room was bright overnight due to street lights. Otherwise, happy with Kenya Comfort and would stay again for a short stay.

On very fist day they given the second floor room room is ok but there is no water for washroom.. after several request to front desk, they gave a room in first floor and it was good.. breakfast is good... issue on this hotel is its location and its very hard to approach by taxi even for local drivers.. you need to give proper instruction with google map to driver othe...

This is a budget hostel and you really get what you pay for. The double room was small with limited room for two people and their luggage but, luckily, we were travelling light! It was basic but the room was cleaned everyday to a good standard. The top covers of the beds were stained - they may have been clean but the stains were a little off putting. Along the open c...

I stayed at the Sarova Panafic Nairobi as a single woman for 2 weeks on november/December and was constantly amazed by the staff. Their professionalism and friendliness was outstanding. Whether it was the concierge, receptions staff, restaurant staff, housekeeping or security, all bent over backwards to ensure every need was catered to. The rooms had a lovely outlook ...

Nairobi Safari Club is a well located hotel. The surrounding streets are wide and the neighbourhood feels safe to walk in. Gloria Jeans Coffee House is a mere 5 minute walk and CJ's restaurant is also very close. The hotel has an "old school" charm to it and the rooms are very spacious. That being said...they are looking tired and could do with some upgrading and renov...

Amazing food and the gardens make it a lovely place to sit and enjoy the wonderful food. Some of the rooms are excellent however there are a couple of rooms that are substandard. Agoda availability and representation of the the rooms is not entirely accurate. Staff are generally amazing however I was moved 2 times over a 4 night stay after asking to be moved from a sub...

hotel accessible to most main areas but no access to amenities. Food quality poor, housekeeping is sluggish & not very hygienic & checking in if you book via Agoda is very slow. Swimming pool not clean. It’s an ok hotel if u r staying a few days but are on the move for meetings so u just need a decent place to crash for the night.

All satisfactory however a terrible noise problem. The "park" view rooms actually look out over some large ovals and futsal courts. There are 100's of kids playing on the ovals early morning through to evening. Evening to about 10.00 - 10:30 PM futsal teams are yelling and screaming constantly. There is NO insulation on the windows. Every single sound comes through. I ...

Check in and staff are very good and helpful Very old hotel Room carpets, linen and bathroom is in very poor state Bed bugs Windows are unsecured. Any intruder can enter the room through the windows easily. Agoda says it’s 4 Star. Hotel says 3 Star. It’s difficult to recommend for a business traveller

A nice hotel with all the facilities of a 5 star hotel. Great breakfast though the dinner options were not convincing for the demanding customer. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. A very good place to relax, transit or sleep while attending a conference or doing a transit over Nairobi. There is a very lovely and quiet swimming pool area but shame it is ...

I guess for Nairobi this is what good looks like. Clean, spacious, in a good location in Westlands. The price was too high for the standard but this is what you perhaps need to pay for a safe and decent place. Avoid the restaurant though! Not great food, extremely long service time and overall nothing special.

This is a perfect gateway for someone who wants to stay in green environment but maintain the comfort. Everything was perfect about this place except these few minor comments for improvement: 1) Heater took time to work. I basically had to let the water running from almost 10 minutes before the heat was felt. Water bill is not wise for the management, just saying. 2) C...

Located 10 to 15 minutes from JKI airport, so convenient location that avoids the Mombasa rd traffic issues going into Nairobi. Nice hotel, good facilities, rooms okay, bathroom is a little small. The Boma Nairobi Hotel was excellent except the shower was impossible to use unless you plan to get your entire head covered with water and your face every time. We have traveled all over the world and have never seen a shower head in the middle of the ceiling with no room to stand anywhere in the shower that you did not get covered from the top of your head with wate...

Great location and lovely staff, but I won’t be recommending this place. We had a two night booking, but ended up cutting our stay short as the hot water lasted only about five minutes, the toilet refused to flush. We were switched to a different room thereafter, but again found the hot water problem. The rooms use old fashion water heaters that take forty plus minutes...

The hotel has lovely grounds and a well manicured golf course. The rooms are however a far cry from the stunning views. Old, badly in need of repair and no amount of cleaning seemed to improve the bad state of the rooms. There was an unbearable heat wave in Nairobi during my 9-day stay which made the room almost uninhabitable in 30 degree C conditions. The food ranges ...

It's a cozy hotel and staffs are very nice! They prepared honeymoon surprise for us, we really had a good stay here! The only one thing made me upset is that there is no "no photography" sign and I took photos of hotel for our memories and blog, because the hotel is beautiful and I wanna introduce to my friends, but their manager asked me delete the photos. It's the ...

Wow, an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. Great people working there and the bar and restaurant were a lovely place to relax and hangout after a day of sightseeing. We hadn't planned on eating at the restaurant but the Nairobi traffic got the better of us but we weren't disappointed with the Chop House.

Great accommodating staff, beautiful clean rooms, diverse and delectable food options and a convenient traffic free location. Just wished they could provide support in forex arrangement but nevertheless, proximity to financial and personal services made up for the rare inconvenience. Overall, a wonderful, extremely comfortable and trouble-free stay in Nairobi for a f...

What stood out was the hospitality. The staff were so kind and accommodating for everything we enquired about or requested. The facilities were also well kept and fun to use. The pool was huge and the gym had the necessities to work out. In room breakfast was a nice bonus. Ruth and Serge are true assets to that place. Even though the others were just as nice. Keep i...
Traveler impressions of Nairobi
A nice place in East Africa. Despite security issues, always be on guards in busy and commercial areas.
Kenya has many interesting places to offer you. Natures especially, is the best place to be. See the wildlife, that you might hard to see in other places.
Traffic crazy! specially if you are driving! traffic light system good if police allow it to work automatically as designed.
In general the people are friendly, however it has the nickname Nairobbery and this has come about because of the criminal element, it's very unsafe outside of the well guarded hotels.
It is a pity that Nairobi has a bad reputation due to its criminal statistics. But if you follow some basic rules, you will not have any problem with that.
Nairobi itself doesn't have any attractions, unless you like traffic jam! :-) You have to go out of the city to see some wildlife.
This was my first visit beyond the airport, so my observations are a bit limited. Nairobi is is a major African city with a good road network and an effective airport.
