Traveler impressions of New Delhi and NCR
If you are in India, you will probably end up spending at least a few days in New Delhi. Mostly, it is horrible: a crowded mass of humanity suffering through a poorly planned city that does not have enough mass transit.
Suggest you really take the time to soak up the atmosphere and engage with the historical relevance of this place.
The Metro is a great way to get around, if you can find a good hotel nearby then use it. Tuk-tuk drivers are mercenary when you have finished all your shopping, needless to say they are only interested in their commission on what you have spent and not your stay.
I have been to Delhi many times and I would recomend anybody to come and explore New Delhi and NCR. There are many attractions to visit like Jantar Mantar, India Gate, Red Fort, Kutubminar, AksharDham to name a few.
Delhi is the National capital of India. It has several British and Mughal era monuments....and heritage sites.
I was really not there long enough to take day trips, I only used the hotel as a stop over base for returning to Australia.
New Delhi is much beautiful city than Mumbai. And it`s possible to go to Agra for viewing the Taj Mahar and back to New Delhi within the same day even if you use train.
Delhi is a city of markets, I like shopping here. The Palika Market in Connaught Place is very good for shopping, I can say good bargaining.
If you like culture or interesting historical places, this is a place to visit as there're so many of these to offer.
Delhi is surrouded by various ancient historical places and being the National capital city it has both old and new architecture to see.
New Delhi is really crowded city, its not really clean but its interesting to see about the culture and especially foods.
Delhi is a beautiful city with many historic sites, but with the same poverty and deplorable side found all throughout the country.
I have traveled to many parts of SE Asia, but this was my first trip to India. In comparison, I found it to be an assault on my senses.
i will return in New Delhi with my son and sister. I think that they have to see this beautiful and surprising great town.
this is a very nice part of Delhi - a lot cleaner and quieter than other areas that we have stayed in Delhi.
Overall we enjoyed our time in Delhi and spent 5 nights all up (probably a little long). We saw most of the major sights and recommend Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb the most.
Delhi is the worst city in India. Its the most untidy place ever. Even in the city there is a raw sewage you can find.
Everyone is trying to scam money out of you - I can deal with it but honestly it just gets old after a while.
Well Very heavy traffic. The Cabs drivers and owners take you for the ride. They commit fraud by taking you on long routes wasting time and money.
As a capital city of the country having great historical background, going around for sightseeing is an enjoyable experience.
Getting around Delhi can be difficult. The Metro is the cheapest way, but it is very crowded, difficult to get on and off, and few stations are located near the main attractions.
The major sites are interesting, but the pollution, infrastructure and hawkers make the city an horrible place.
For travelling conveyance, Metro Rail is best suited 6 AM to 11 PM. In the Day time Delhi Transport Buses Come II.
Gurgaon is suburb of capital City New Delhi very close International airport. Gurgaon has couple of malls for shopping.
Bargain as much as you can as they will put high price. At least try to bargain quarter of the price for sarees
There are very noce sight seeing such as Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Old Fort, Parliament building, Temples, India Gate and shopping centers
Great place for sight seeing and cultural events, its very useful if your driver is keen to tell you all about the things that are happening around at the time.
I was at the holiday for the night before the flight the next morning. So I did not look around the town much.
This place has wonderful, cheap food. Has the friendliest taxi drivers in the world who despite their kindness, use their horns a lot.
Delhi is a typical Indian "modern" town, with 12 milion inhabitants and 8 milion vehicles! traffic is amazing, cars and motorcicles going everywhere! lots of religious spots and temples, but zero organization.

More about New Delhi and NCR
The last two decades have seen unchecked modernization, but these ancient streets still reveal traditional bazaars and sari shops in proximity to electronics emporiums and gleaming entertainment complexes. From the moment visitors disembark at Delhi – Indira Gandhi International Airport, they're quickly confronted with this booming, multi-cultural community.
New Delhi is unique because it was already the seat of a dynamic empire before the British arrived. While the British architecture in Delhi is impressive, it struggles to compete with massive Mughal feats like the Red Fort or Jama Masjid, sister structures of the Taj Mahal.
Most of the imperial architecture lies in what is now called 'Old Delhi'. This area caters to budget travelers and backpackers while the best selection of accommodations is found in Central Delhi. Hotels in the new city have great access to late-night dining, drinking and dancing venues, whereas those in the historic quarter quiet down earlier in the evening.
