Booked 1 night and stayed 2 more. Extremely good value in a gorgeous city. The place is a female student boarding house and we visited during university holidays so practically had the entire complex to ourselves. Full kitchen and coin operated washing machines perfect for those travelling on a budget.

My Hostel Muntri was a great accommodation experience. The staff was extremely helpful and generous, I hadn't exchanged my money to ringett yet and they still let me check in and stay the night and pay the next day. It was a bit hard to find, but once I found it the location was great. I felt super safe and comfortable here and walking back at night while alone. The only thing I didn't like was that the bathrooms were not very well kept, but other than that I enjoyed my time here.

Location, price and charm make this place highly recommendable in our opinion. we'd stay there again no worries. We stayed at red court inn several times and stayed in dorms, twin room and king room. All of the rooms were well presented in charming old penang style. the bunk rooms are solid and very comfortable. actually all the beds were lovely. all rooms have aircon too - very important! the bathrooms are all shared but it feels fine - they are clean and the showers are good. The wifi is reasonable and there is a comfortable common area on the ground floor to lounge in and watch a movie or have a can of expensive beer (beer in malyasia=very expensive). there is also a computer there for guests to use. the free breakfast is very basic just a few bananas a bit of watermelon and white bread to toast and eat with jam. But don't let it worry you - go across the road to the vegetarian place and get an excellent cheap breakfast there. Red cout inn does have some pretty steep stairs though so if you have knee problems or any other reason to avoid stairs then please be warned!

I stayed at various backpacker hostel in Malaysia and this is the first time I encounter and A+ is the rate the Kimberley House deserve. The other's hostel room is smaller than Kimberley House. The rooms in Kimberley House is spacious . I have stayed here in different dorms eg Female dorm and mixed dorm. The bed are comfort and clean . There are resting place in lobby and at on the hallway. The showers are clean and not too small. There are lift to carry luggage to upstairs which is really help the guest from carry the heavy luggage. The laundry service also cheaper where the rate is RM 5 per kilo . They provide free coffee and tea for the guest . Kimberley provide two desktop station in the hostel . Furthermore ,the staff especially is superb ,she attends to the guest in professional manner ,I do not know the rest two GSA name but they are good two . I did encounter the owner in the reception counter and they were understanding as I am lack of cash and allowed me to check in with less deposit. Here you can find you are provided with personal locker where you can keep your belonging . I have stayed in other place where they don't provide free locker to the guest . Kimberley House is nearby to the public transport and shopping area and also local food stalls cum restaurants.Conclusion ,the Kimberley House is perfect place for you to rest .If others said its noisy in night ,its because of the guest who do not know to obey the hostel rules ,to not make noise and they are not considerate of others who are tired and sleeping at that time . The hotel management have done their job by providing the best to the guest.

This was the best place we stayed at in Malaysia! Super clean, comfortable, great location, the most awesome owner, who gives you all kinds of map of Georgetown and Penang and explain everything you didn't even know you want to know! We stayed at 8 hotels during our 3 weeks in Malaysia and this one is honestly the best one. Thumbs up and thank you very much for great time we had in Georgetown!

Stayed first in a private room which was very nice and comfortable bed. Quiet despite old building. Great location on Love Lane, but far enough away from the main bars so it was calm atmosphere. Breakfast nothing special, but still very nice to have especially if you're lucky enough to get some fruit. Really appreciate the drinking water refill station. We stayed again one night on our way back through Penang and were in double bed in dorm room. Good value for money, but this one was facing the street and there was definitely some noise from some over-enthusiastic karaoke singers. Curtains around the bed would be nice for privacy. Overall it was great!

Have a short gateway to Penang, and have chosen Peace Hostel for stay, meet kind staffs, who share a lot of infor and experience, is just like you met old friend here. Hostel located at center of George Town, easy access to any tourist spot. Recomand this hostel to all backpacker.

We are group of 4. We stay the mix dorm. Each bed provide power plug , small light, sheet cover to give you a little privacy plus have air conditioner! WiFi is Fair speed. Free breakfast and common area to chill out. Location is good. Delicious food just few minutes walk a away. Paul is helpful and give you a lots advice for travel at Penang. This is good hostel suitable for Budget traveler !

Fully satisfied with the rooms, Cheaper , worth it. Little difficult to find it as it don't have name board, but you can call the property telephone, Mr. Jack will assist you from that moment till you checkout. Very nice guy, who is maintaining and managing this accom. He will help you get Bike, food, locations,etc.

It's best if you drive to Penang, this is a quiet place for a relax stay. Sound proofing needed to be improved as we could hear footsteps on the wooden floor in the room.

Rooms,floor,pantry all are perfectly cleaned. And its clean all the time. The cleanliness kills my tiredness back to the hotel during noon after a long journey towards the day. Bravo. Staffs are helpful. Didnt mind for the unavailablity of the toiletries because its far from cheap. Distance from attraction is not that far and to me its strategic because you can still walk to the 1st Avenue Mall and Penang street art. Only difficulities in finding small shops for needs. And GrabCar apps cant locate the location of the hotel unfortunately. However using Uber as an alternative is perfect in order to going back to the hotel. And one more thing the iron board is damage. Maybe you guys can fix it or get a new one. Chargeable washing machine is available. 24/7 complimentary breads,coffee and tea are one of my favourite especially the pantry! Its tremendously calmed with stunning decoration. Favourite spot among all. Surely recommended this hotel. Good job guys. Till we meet again!

Staffs are friendly, helpful and dedicated. Will definitely reconsider to stay in this hotel again if it meets my minimum requirements (location, tour size etc) on my future visit to Penang. i was really impressed by the cleaning, staff courtesy, and complimentary services this hostel offers. we booked two nights and weren't expecting much from a small business like this; we'd been to other hostel and guest houses in the area previously ... all with disappointing results - dirty private bathrooms, rude personnel, and tiny common rooms. but we never complained; we just got what we paid for. this is not the case with 'red inn cabana'. it's not easy to find if you do not have a map or you've not been to georgetown before. however, locals can help you locate this cozy and family-style little inn. it's located beside the 'chocolate boutique', so you have to enter the shop's parking lot and stay to the right until you find the hostel's 'main lobby'. here, you get a warm welcome from an excellent english-speaking concierge, who also leads you inside the upstairs premises in a short visit to all amenities. there's a spacious common room up there, from where all rooms converge, including the large and well stocked common bathrooms. it is tastefully furnished with a complimentary 24/24 coffee and tea service. breakfast (which is included) is varied and fresh, with a wide range of asian and western foods. we'll surely book this place again for our next trip to penang.

I frequently travel to Penang once every couple of months and this is now my go-to guesthouse. It's a one-minute walk from Chulia Street, right in the middle of all the food stands, cafés, and restohookahbars, but far enough removed to be out of earshot from the din of the reggae dens and clubs. The building is heritage. I'm convinced the floors—beautiful tiling—are original. The common area is an old courtyard that has since been covered by transparent roofing, so it's cool and relaxing. Breakfast is complimentary and the coffee is pretty good. I stayed in a single room this time, which was small yet comfortable. All bedrooms, including the dorms, are air-conditioned at a well-regulated temp. The beds are comfortable. Free towels are provided and wifi is not bad as long as you're in the common area. The bathrooms, shared, are constantly cleaned and there are plenty of toilets and shower stalls for guests, thus not very crowded in the morning. The staffers have always been very kind to me (even if I return early in the morning after they've locked up and have to wake them to unlock for me!). I've stayed at other guesthouses in the area and I can say this is one of the best. If you're looking to economize but don't want to sacrifice comfortability or cleanliness, this is the place to stay.

It was out first time in Penang, Malaysia and we saw a lot of people recommending this place and so we booked our stay. The location was just perfect, it’s near most of the restaurants and food options. The staff were very nice to us especially in helping us navigating Georgetown. It’s also near the party place so we really had fun!

Close to Red Garden foodcourt, to expensive hotels, so you can have e tour in Chong Fatt Tze Mansion, e beer in Eastern & Western Hotel, cheap shopping, best Penang Laksa in foodstalls, Indian food in front. The house is in a garden, so very quiet. The staff is extremely friendly. This is about the best you can get in get in Georgetown in this price category. We would definitely come again. Very clean, cozy breakfast in garden, small library, information on events.

We stayed one night on our journey south from Thailand and down through Malaysia. We received a warm welcome from the owner and his family. The entrance into the hotel, which is in a former Chinese Reading Club Heritaqe style building, was a cool relief from the heat outside. The rooms are quite basic, but sufficent ; the owner had only been open for business for a few weeks; but we were told of plans to upgrade the rooms with Air Con. in the near future. We had a fan in our double room and it was enough to give us a great nights sleep. The breakfast was inclusive in the price and was good enough. We would happily stay there if we were in Penang another time.

They've got 3 clean and hot water equipped shared bathrooms, so you don't need to worry about queue. It took us just 5 minutes from the hostel to Penang street art. There have been so many convience stores like & Eleven just right next door. The owner is very hospitable, friendly and helpful. My friend lost his phone on Uber, and she had tried her best to help us take back the phone even it was at midnight.

Location wise is still good even though a bit far from Penang Road or Padang Kota Lama. Easy to find parking (and its free). Clean floor & bedding. Upon checking in, you’ll get new clean decent sized towel & blanket. Had toast for breakfast with variety choices of jam. Clean cutlery, glasses & cups. Very very very nice ambiance especially in the lobby area (tho a bit warm compared to the room). Plenty of space in the 8beds dorm room. So if u don’t like cramped dorm room, Tido is the best for you. Very stable bunk beds so do not worry if you have the upper bed. If you’re light sleeper, bring your own earbuds cause it might get a bit noisy from the outside. Staff friendly & you can just ask anything like direction & all. Overall very pleasant stay I’m looking forward to my next stay here. ^^

I was looking for a budget hotel in Penang especially at Batu Feringgi. Till last minute i could not find one since it was super peak (during christmas festival). Finally, my colleague recommended Agoda and i managed to find a room within my budget and i was happy when Agoda sent me the confirmation immediately. On the other hand, i'm happy with EQ Ferringhi Hotel because it has room with triple single beds. My friends and I together 3 wanted to go for Penang and when the room is just nice for 3 of us, it put a big smile on my face. But i was a bit worry thinking how it is going to be the real hotel rooms because normally illustration that provided in the web will not be the exact when we see them. Surprisingly, whatever has been mention and seen in the website are exactlty what i saw the moment i check in. It was clean, just nice for friends like us who just back to room at night once go out in the morning. We had good sleep since the bed was clean and comfortable. Provided with television gave us some entertainment at midnights. Those who looking for a budget hotel (who will be out all day) they surely can go to EQ Ferringhi Hotel. Additionally, taxi services also provided which the price is reasonable. Next to this hotel are also available KFC, mini market, night market, food stalls and a lot more. So those who wants to book at this hotel, should not get scared. Enjoy being at EQ Ferringhi like how we does!

First, we choose this hotel due as we saw it is near to most street art and easy access to restaurants . It was a Thursday when we arrived and not so crowded . The reception is friendly and helpful. Once we enter the room ,we were amazed by the cleanliness in the room (it is more than you can expect for what you've pay) ! For a germaphobia like me, I'm so satisfied with the washroom condition . The whole room and the washroom are equipped with bright light. Clear TV channel too ! And the bed is so comfy & lovely enough for couples . About the location , it is located strategically and super near to tourist spots (wall arts) , restaurants (the famous Nasi Kandar Beratur & Jawi house) , food streets (Chulia Street) , cafés (longest café in Penang-ChinaHouse) and there is a reflexology shop which open until 12am (good service with reasonable price) . All are reachable in walking distance . Nearby also have a bicycles station which you can rent it and hourly charged . **We prefer to use UBER and GRAB in Penang due to the traffic . You can easily call for cab around this Armenian Street .

We really enjoyed our stay there. The best thing is the building itself as it is one of those old historical houses you admire when you walk the streets of Jeorge town. The rooms look nice, you are provided with free drinking water and basic breakfast.The only drawback is the thinness of walls, you can hear literally everything that's going on in neighboring rooms or hall.

This is a lovely little guesthouse in central George Town. I am Solo Traveller from KL, initially the booking for this hotel just for two nights, i spent a great time in Stewart Houze, I ended up staying in Stewart Houze for two weeks. If you want to try to Japanese Style Accomodation - Capsule Dorm. Dont hestitate, go Stewart Houze, the capsule style with super single bed size is extraordinary, ONE and ONLY in PENANG. It is clean,the air-conditioning in the sleeping area was cold enough to make you sleep like heaven Wake like angel. The toilets are equipped with Water Heater and the water pressure is really strong, and the maid will clean twice a day, no doubt, it is really clean and tidy. Most importantly it is inexpensive place, surrounding by good food (Red Garden cafe, some little small pub and cozy cafe), just 1 minutes walk to Lebuh Culia and Carnavon Street and there was alot of food to eat. My Personal Experience: I really like the Stewart Houze home stay style guest house, it was everything i want when i travel alone, the owner taking care me extremely well. My car was broke down in somewhere in georgetown, i briefly describe the location of where my car was broke down, he came to me and accompany me until the Toll Car to toll my car away for "big surgery". I made alots of friends here, I invited some couples from Netherlands and Germany and a solo travellers from Japan to go out for dinner and drinks. They all say the same thing, the guest house is really clean and tidy and owner is super friendly. I am a talkative person and like to make friends, one day i at least spent 1 hour in conversation with the owner, he would recommend you where to eat, where to hang out, which bus to take, he will show you the map, everything to make you feel like home. Therefore, in conclusion i conclude few of them are really enjoying the period of staying in this guest house. Simply Amazing. I definitely will come back and stay on next visit.

One of the best hostels I stayed in during my trip to Malaysia. The value for money is fantastic, the location is convenient (on a very cute street!) and the staff are friendly. The room was very comfortable, as were the showers and other facilities. This place also had the best free breakfast I have ever had at a hostel. My one and only complaint is that the staff gave me incorrect directions about how to get to the airport and I ended up having a lot of trouble with the buses. But honestly overall it was a phenomenal place to stay in Penang. I would go back without a second thought.

This is the same review i gave to trip advisor, they deserve amazing review because this hotel and the staffs are just amazingly wonderful. I'm a 21 year old girl came here with my boyfriend and 3 other friends. Went here with 4 of my friends. The cheap price come with nice bedroom. Suitable for those who dont have to transport but want to travel far around penang. Walking distance to the jetty terminal, you don't need any transport once near to the jetty. The jetty is the main bus terminal to go everywhere in Penang friendliest staffs ever. The genuine smile and everything, and very helpful. They even provide a room to keep your bag after your checkout time. As the hotel is only 5 minutes walking distance to jetty, we went everywhere starting from taking the bus from jetty. Penang public transport is reliable. And if you want to go back to the hotel, any bus can do because every bus seems to stop at the jetty as the final. The view is to die for. I will definitely come here again.

We had not planned to stay more then a 2 nights here but found ourselves miscalculating the visa process so we were stuck in Penang for 6 days. Actually, being stuck became a pleasure. The hotel is located right in the heart of Geaorgetown and it is easy to access the rest of the island from here by bus. The staff had answers for everything and made it extremely easy to book onward travel and entertainment and they had some great restaurant suggestions. The hotel was very clean and offered housekeeping services everyday. I am accustomed to breakfast being offered as a tea and some white toast but instead they had a buffet offering Asian and Western foods with tea and coffee and it was fantastic to have this included as well as a great way to start our day before we headed off on an adventure. Also, We found the family rooms spacious and very comfortable. We are a backpacking family and so have a budget to keep to for our longterm travel. We found this hotel definitely worth the money and really enjoyed our stay in Penang as there was plenty for a family to do!

Wassup hostel is seriously one of the best hotels in Penang. The staff was quiet friendly and we also had a great time. The room was clean and although we wanted to use the stuff for washroom they did provided it on time. The best part was that they had a pool and it was neat and clean although there were children swimming in it but still it was clean. The gamming/playing area was also wonderful it was also amazing. I could have easily talked to my family there. The best thing was that they had a bus station behind the hotel and they also had the mall and all the other facilities near as well and we could easily go there and have fun and also do our shopping. The security was also amazing we had left our room keys out of the room in night and nothing happend. One of the best place in Penang is wassup youth Hostel. One must go there if visit to penang

Pros -check in check out was easy n no deposits required if u book online -helpful staff, friendly, attentive, great location -right outside of hotel is a very famous food street konlomee in penang n gets crowded every evening till midnight -located right in the middle of chulia st n it never sleeps Cons -3 storey high, no elevator. So avoid requesting for high floor if ure bringing luggages -thin walls, can hear below n left right occupants (we stayed at highest floor near shared shower room) -steep staircase, be extra careful not to fall What stood out -upon arrival past midnight, we were told tht 1 of our room was given to another occupant whose room ac's was leaking (booked 2 separate rooms for 4pax) n the guy was good enough to arrange for another place at mansion one near the vouk to let us hv a goodnight rest for the night n paid for our grab fare to the other hotel which was like an apartment with shared amenities with other ppl. -overall satisfied n would come again.
