We had stayed at this hotel during a mandatory stopover from Sydney to Mauritius and the airline had organised this accommodation. We enjoyed our stay but the room was average - old, musty, but spacious and had a huge bed. We booked this on our return as we decided to stay in Reunion for a few days before we went home. We ended up in what must have been an "executive room sea view" instead of a garden view room (we didn't ask any questions) and it was amazing. The place was 5 star in quality, with A/C that you could barely hear, an amazing view, and a private balcony. It was very spacious, and the bathroom was a place you didn't want to leave. The toilet was separate. To summarize how great the room was: the only thing I could think of in terms of what wasn't perfect about the room was the triptych painting above the bed - the three panels were placed too far apart. Service was excellent and all the other things we expected to be good was good, so in the end, a wonderful surprise. Our recommendation is to pay the extra money for the executive sea room which is in an entirely new part of the hotel and is in a different league compared to the room we stayed in initially. This hotel is a bit out of town but up on the hill it really allows you to sit back and soak up the 170 degree views and the lights of St Denis

We spent 7 nights and really enjoyed it. Very pleasant relaxing environment with friendly helpful staff. You are shown the facilities on arrival. There are different themed rooms so you have the option to choose depending on availability. Preferably do a request before arrival. Beach is across.the road and also restaurants on the beach. Best to have a car to get around. You.can get options on places to visit from the hotel concierge depending on the duration of stay. Ideal location to get around the island. A big thank you to the hotel staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Location on a beautiful cliff, amazing sea visits (you can spot whales right from the hotel)! Lovely pool area included it even has a jacuzzi with cliff/sea view in the open area. Breakfast is very good. Food at the hotel is generally very good but as it is a 5 star hotel quite expensive though totally worth it. Only downside: for the price the rooms are a little small and don’t have a very nice location but as you spend most time in the open area it was totally ok for us! But don’t expect amazing sea views from there. Bed & shower are perfect.

Room and balcony with jacuzzi are unique and lovely Breakfast area beautiful - decent breakfast Cons: day 1 spa closed, day 2 pool closed, no happy hour to attract people to come to the bar - that opens at 6 pm, and when we arrived at 6.10, it wasn’t open yet, there’s no atmosphere, empty- why not propose sundowners..., very limited menu, so we ate out (Suzie Q recommended) Staff friendly but clueless- they need proper training and good management and this place will be amazing - get them trained at Palm hotel and spa in Grand Anse! It’s way too expensive for what it is - unlike the Palm hotel which we loved

After much research I chose Central Hotel and was very skeptical about the hotel. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and quite comfortable. Make sure you request a room with a shower and a double bed if you are couple. We had a room in the back as I think the front rooms would be quite noisy as it on the roadside. It is close to the business centre and ideal location if you have business there. It is close to the airport. Breakfast is very basic. There are restaurants and eating places within walking distance. Reunion is generally very expensive. We managed to find food at the waterfront which was reasonably priced. This is ideal for business but not much to see for a tourist. However we later found out that one can book trips from St Denis to the volcanic sites and other tourist places. You can obtain more information from the tourist information centre which is about a block away from Central Hotel. It is better to hire a car at the airport as the taxis are quite expensive. Language is a bit of a problem as very little English is spoken. French is their main language. The volcanic site was awesome and worth the trip to Reunion.

The restaurant should get better staff and was very very disappointed. ..we waited for food for an hour and was then told what we ordered was not available. However the rest of the hotel was perfect. We had a very warm and informative welcome from the young man in reception upon arrival. And the recovery service for the restaurant or deal was very excellent. Will definitely recommend...just dont eat at restaurant. ..go into town to eat.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. It is within walking distance of the beachfront and restaurants. It would be better if there was a light blanket on the bed and another chair so we could both sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view.

Lovely hotel. Peaceful. Fantastic food. Excellent staff. Great views from the comfortable room and swimming pool.

We stayed here for several nights. The room is clean, the site is perfectly situated for hikes up to Foret de Belouve/ Trou de Fer etc as it is close to the starting area of that hike. Breakfast was extremely delicious with different fresh juices, homemade banana or coco bread and jams or cheeses from the island.

Location is a bit inconvenience with public transportation but if you hire car, you should not have any issue as it is close to main road. Upon arrival hotel staff welcomed me very nicely and always hotel public space and room are very clean. Only the thing I need to complain is that wifi speed is a bit slow to exchange email with 2-8Mb file attachment. Other than slow wifi, nothing to complain. Staff are very friendly and offered me help all the time.

Hotel location not brilliant but great value. A Quick restaurant is walking distance but no others. We used the Resto bus which will take to a choice of 4 restaurants for free. Taxis are expensive.

Overall very good stay. Breakfast was good. Very near to shopping streets and bus terminal. Walking takes less than 5 minutes. All shops and many restaurants closed on Sunday. St Denis is a very small city. Airport is 15mins away. Taxi cost Euro25-30.

I had 2 major problems: 1. Reception of the hotel is only open until 19.30 to check in and it was not mentioned on the Agoda booking. 2. They wanted to charge me 25 euro for a room plastic access card since I could not find it. In no hotel I have ever visited (and I travel frequently) they charge you for a plastic access card. I finally found it after looking for it for 60 min.....very dissapointing. Staff were just following orders, so not their fault, but this kind of unfriendly management rules makes me not want to come back....ever

we were supposed to stay one night - we returned and spent a nice time there. every single member of staff is friendly and ready to help. nice service. I recommend this hotel for at least one night while driving across Reunion

For the prices of St Denis, quite expensive, this hotel is one of the best, if not the best option. Compared with other hotels in the city it definitely worth the money since rooms are quite big and good and swimming pool, even if small, makes all the difference after a day walking under the hot and humid weather. Breakfast, although not cheap, is very good and ends up being a good option (since in this city only supermarket is a budget option). Swimming pool is clean and pleasant. Pity the garden does not have more vegetation, growing so naturally in the island and that would turn the place much more pleasant. Still, a good patio do enjoy the water and rest for few hours. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Comparing with the other hotels in the city, i would recommend this one without hesitating. It is not in the historical centre, but in 15 minutes walking you are in Juliette Dodu street, and in 25 minutes you are in the grand marche.

For those who book this hotel, please ensure you check-in before 7pm, they are close after 7pm! Security code is required everywhere in this hotel, without that, you are difficult to enter this premises. The hotel phones number was no one answer, it made me very frustrated on my first night! Although the hotel claimed that they have put the envelope on the gate outside attention to my name, unfortunately I didn’t see it. I have no choice checked in on next day morning, and gratefully the management is willing to make some refund. The reception lady is helpful and friendly, she can speak good English. I forgot her name, but I appreciate her help and she is the only willing to solve my frustrated emotion. My wife and son love this hotel very much, is due to it has sufficient space including the kitchen and a dining table. While for me, I have my first mosquito bite at this hotel in Reunion Island! We don’t have enough time to enjoy the facilities in this hotel, but it is really fully equipped and the only hotel I can get a lot of Reunion’s travel information. It does have some house rules we need to follow, like clear the rubbish and wash the dishes. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but you can get food easily out there within walking distance. I do like this hotel’s location, it can be access everything within walking distance. It has a Sunday morning market, is very happening and caused traffic jam there. While it is only open till 12 noon, after that all the shops are start closing one by one. However, it was terrible silence on Monday morning

Hotel le Boucan was our first hotal in Reunion island and we were blown away by how beautiful Saint Gilles Les Bains beach is! The hotel is just in front of the beach and their alresco restaurant offers fantastic local food - by far the best restaurant in Reunion we have tired. The hotel isnt new but kept well and the staffs are friendly.

Very good hotel with nice Staff and nice standard breakfast, All the Reception staff well train .only negative comments was internet, need to add password every time . Personality i recommend hotel for business and short visite. Thank you very much Best Regards, G.K. M

We stayed at Villa Angelique for a couple of days as our base to go on two hikes in La Reunion. The villa is quaint, within 20 mins walking distance to La Barachois and the main bus stops. The street is a quiet and safe street, the villa amenities meeting our needs. The staff are friendly and better versed in French than English, but we managed to communicate alright. A lively creole mansion on the rue de Paris, overall this was a pleasant vacation.

The hotel is located in the centre of Saint-Pierre, making it easy to walk to shops, restaurants and the sea-front. It has its own secure, underground carpark. The location can mean there is some noise if you have a room overlooking Avenue des Indes, and some of the surrounding buildings are rather unkempt, but that's hardly the hotel's fault. Service was friendly and helpful, everywhere was very clean, and I hardly ever heard any noise from other rooms or the corridor. I was pleased to notice environmental issues have been taken into consideration too, with several small details to show for it. There's a small swimming pool next to the bar, which I didn't try out. As we were staying in a studio room with its own kitchenette we didn't eat any meals in the restaurant area so I can't pronounce on that. My only quibbles are very minor ones, which didn't detract from our stay: - no toilet roll holder! (and no sign of there ever having been one); - shower stall is rather dark, due to dark tiling and only one overhead light; - no fan or extractor in the bathroom means the mirror fogs up easily; - the long shallow washbasin is aesthetically pleasing, but not really very practical; - wardrobe shelves are rather cheap, and aren't consistent with the quality of the rest of the room; - no handle to open the cupboard door in the kitchen area.

Well located, 100m to the beach of Etang Salé Les Bains. The hotel is nice thanks to its swimming pool and nice rooms. However, it is not a 3 stars hotel (rather a 2 stars +): no mini-bar nor fridge in the room, no bathroom supplies (except basic soap). The restaurant is really overpriced, and the quality is at best medium for La Réunion. Fortunately, there are plenty of nice restaurants along the beach, which are within 5 minutes walk. I do not recommend half-board.

Agoda ! I want a Word with You ! I booked Chanteauvent in Mauritius and they were overbooked and you apologised and said you would do something nice for me for being so understanding. Since then I haven't heard from you ! So talk is cheap !

Run by an eccentric Belgian-Mauritian couple, this hotel has functional-yet-unexciting budget rooms with some of the fastest wifi connections on Reunion. It is located close to everything in Hell-Bourg.

We called for a shuttle and got a ride in an older car, complete with kid who maybe had to come with Mom to come get us? It was nice of them to come. Once there the guy behind the counter handed us a key, opened the hall door and told us the room number. That’s all. Half the shower door was missing, and the room was just kind of ratty. I wouldn’t bother with this one as I think there are plenty of others.

This is a beautiful guesthouse in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Very close to the sea and forest. The Swiss hosts are very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small and there was no door for the bathroom which is not ideal for non-couples.

Beach 350m, a nice and a big swimming pool (it could be heated during winter season), nice decorated room (there could be a larger bed), small kitchen and fridge in the room, nice balcony with access to the pool, fast free WIFI in the room. Breakfast could be bought at the hotel. Restaurant is available only for breakfast and daily snack, bar with cocktails, friendly staff.

The bungalows are spacious enough and they all come with a heater, which we needed as the temperature dropped a lot during the evenings. Our bathroom smelled of moist, which I guess is due to the fact that it has not a very good ventilation and it becomes foggy in the evenings. Biggest downside is that the rooms are pretty badly isolated, and we literally overheard our next door neighbors having a good time. Good for them, but not really what we had hoped for. The shower was small but fine. The breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and bread. Friendly staff. Wifi only worked in the lobby/reception. We did not make us of the sauna or hot tub. All-in-all, the location is fine for a visit to the volcano, but we feel the price of 80 euros a night is a bit high compared to what we got for that amount elsewhere on the island.

First the place is hard to find. Street name has changed and there are no hotel signs. The checkin hours are limited from 10-2 and it is best you send an e-mail to get code for the lockbox that holds your key. The internet barely worked from my room but worked great in the stairs... go figure. The receptionist Shamia is very helpful. The location is great ( once you find it) and has a big grocery store and produce market very close by. The town is nearby and so is the bus station (to/from airport and other locations). It is also one of the cheaper living options in all of Reunion which is expensive to start with. All in all good value for money if you can overcome some initial difficulties like finding it and getting internet in your room. The living quarters are rather compact but funstional.
