" Rodrigues island and Bakwa Lodge are very special places, which you will find hardly anywhere else on earth. Sensitively placed and managed in harmony with it's surroundings, Bakwa Lodge is perfectly placed for relaxing, walking, snorkelling or even taking the bus to all areas of Rodrigues (you cannot get lost - there is always a generous Rodriguan nearby to help you). If you like big hotels with all the bling then this is not for you; if you love exclusive boutique hotels where you are discreetly but attentively catered for on an ecological gem of an island, then make the effort and spend some downtime on Rodrigues and Bakwa Lodge."

"Great place to stay and stones throw from a deserted island type beach - white sand and turquoise sea - Arlette and Ronald are 2 lovely people who will go out of their way to help you - they have a friendly son who we took out with us one day - pleasant young man indeed! As I am vegetarian Arlette made me special food and made sure we tasted the traditiional dishes of the island. We would stay there again - the island is worth a visit - undeveloped and full of fantastic views, beaches, food and people - we were lucky to be there for the SEGA creole festival so we could see the Sega done in its true form. Something Mauritius doesn't have on offer! What a superb holiday. "

"Food not satisfactory. Room leaked when rained. They never told us that on the Saturday night they had 12 artist performing with a live band on the property from 7pm until 1am in the morning we could not sleep. If they had informed us about the band in advance we would not have stayed there. The hotel is not value for money. The staff never clear your table when eating. The staff do not offer you any service you have to help yourself. They did not have a wine opener had to borrow from the hotel next door. The hotel is in a bad need of a revamp. The staff are friendly/polite but not fulfilling their duties. The hotel needs to review their rates downwards until the hotel has a revamp. The location is ideal for kite surfing. Our group will not be returning to Ebony Mourouk ever!!!!"

"Not very good. Problems were: Public areas not air conditioned. (Room a/c was ok) Breakfast (continental only) very limited. Did not try other meals. No snacks, tea, coffee available between meal times. Only one sheet on beds !! A quilt provided to cover your self but not changed when guest departs. Mirror in bathroom far too high. Could not see myself at all. On last day we discovered a small safe on the top shelf on a cupboard but it was out of sight or reach. Would need step ladder (not provided) to access it. Staff friendly and tried to help but they lack guidance, training and general direction. "

"Sandy is a very friendly host. The apartment is very big and clean with 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a big balcony with an amazing view. We had a lovely 4 days stay where sandy showed us around in the city, organized a snorkeling trip for us and gave us the opportunity to discover the island on our own as we could rent a scooter from him. We definitely recommend this place and would love to visit again! Thank you so much sandy! "
