Scarborough hotels & places to stay

We were on level -3 (basement) the lift was very jumpy and smelly as well as the corridors. In the room it was quite clean apart from inside the kettle that was really bad so we didn't use it. We reported the t.v as that wasn't working they said they would inform maintainence. We checked in at 2pm as advised and when we got to the room there was a housekeeper still sorting the room out, the staff overall were nice especially the housekeeping staff. Whilst we are aware the building is very old it needs updating and general maintainence there was paint and mould on the walls on the stairs, I also had problems with my phone there was no service because off where we were (-3 basement). We have stayed in all 3 Britannia hotels in Scarborough and this is the worst out of them. We feel that it's also the small things that make a stay pleasant and comfortable, and this is also how hotels get returning customers and recommendations.

Booked this hotel the day before and got a good deal, it is a good location on the south bay cliff, good shopping area, friendly staff and very good breakfast, large room and bathroom, it is an old hotel so the décor is dated, the everything else made up for that, I would recommend this hotel if you can get a deal, full price is a bit expensive.

This was a lovely hotel to stay in which was kind of by itself when you look up at it from the beech. The room and all the facilities were all good and the price was really reasonable compared to nearby hotels. Id definitely recommend this hotel to a friend or anyone wanting to visit Scarborough.

Central location, lovely staff, beautiful room, very clean, nothing was to much trouble will defiantly be booking again when in Scarborough x❤️🏖

We booked an ensuite room but have arrived to drop our luggage at 11am. We told the hotel we'll be attending a concert and will be back late. When we checked into our room at 10.30pm, we realized the bathroom light wasn't working. The manager on duty, told us he'd come "right away" to our room to have a look but he didn't do so for the next 2 hours, and because the phone also wasn't working, we had to go down to the lobby. He then told us he had to man the lobby as he's the only guy working. It's really not our problem that the hotel is understaffed. He also didn't tell us this when we first enquired and we've just been sitting in our room waiting for people to come up. It doesn't help that there's no WiFi signal in the room on the 3rd floor and the TV also wasn't working. He didn't offer any apology, let alone compensation, and just asked us to use the communal bathroom. We're two girls staying and that's why we wanted and paid for an ensuite room. It's only until 00.30am when the late night manager came on duty that he came to our room and fixed it within 10 minutes (and turns out the switches for the shower and the light were swapped) If he had come up perhaps he would've been able to fix it for us right away and spared us 2 hours waiting. Very disappointing experience.

We are locals but stayed there for a family reunion. Easy to book and check in, excellent amenities in the apartment and safe, secured parking. Close to mini golf, train, a small supermarket and a pub and a cafe for food. Also just a short walk to Peasholm Park and around 15 mins walk from the centre of town. There is no food as it is self catering. But I couldn't leave that section of the review blank so I had no option but to give a 1.

I booked this for my inlaws, they informed me that the room allocated was not finished. It overlooked the area where people sat but didn't have net curtains. There wasn't a bin and the door only closed if slammed hard which was extremely noisy. On reporting this another room was allocated which although clean was a bit tired around the edges, and didn't have the double sinks or walk in shower that the first one had. The first room would have been fabulous if finished. Decorators were in the hall outside so perhaps this area wasn't quite ready. However saying that the Hotel was great, the meals were delicious and the gardens / location was fabulous. My inlaws had a great say, eating each evening in the hotel. They have dietary requirements but nothing was too much trouble for the catering team. There was a wedding reception on the Saturday night but as they were not disturbed at all. They said they would definitely stay again.

The hotel location is great, less than 5 mins to town shops and beach. Located at the top of the hill in Scarborough but near to the cable lift so no problem with getting back up the hill. Nice to have a properly cooked to order breakfast at this hotel and comfortable lounge to relax in after diner.

Lovely traditional pub/Inn. All the staff were lovely and welcoming. No issue with our 6 month old and 6 yeearnold in the bar or restaurant.. food was great, beers were delicious and rooms clean and fresh. Definitely will revisit. Thanks for a great night!

i think it is very regretable that the hotel is spoiled by the reception staff who we found to be aloof not very helpful and not welcoming,at least the ones that we encountered. i would not make a formal complaint as everything else about the hotel was very good . i find that a warm welcome at reception can make a big difference to the stay at any hotel and form my first impressions .

Very nice manager very friendly and helpful did like the breakfast the downside was the tv did not work very well and heating was a bit slow at getting the room warm the manager will be looking into the issues above

The hotel is aim at the older generation, and nightly performances of Bingo, Quiz and resident act continue till around 11 pm, our room was directly above the stage and everything could be clearly heard, no sleep was possibly till 11:30. The hotel seemed unwilling to move us, although this was requested. If you are on business in the area, this is not the hotel for you.

Family of 3, 2 adults and a baby, stayed in one of the apartments. Nice and surface tidy with quite a bit of room to move about in and once the door is shut you can bearly hear the rest of the hotel. Unfortunately there was rubbish from the previous occupant still in the room and the glasses and plates provided had dirty marks on them but apart from that, definitely good value for money. Will be staying again when we go back to Scarborough.

According to our Yorkshire friends, this was the 'poshest hotel in Scarborough' and we found a good deal thanks to Agoda. The hotel was perfectly situated above the beach and 10 minutes walk from town and the train station. The staff were friendly during check-in and I liked that we were given hot chocolate everyday. The hotel itself though does not feel like a 4-star by any means. It's not bad but it certainly can't be described as a 'posh hotel'. We were ok as we had a special deal but I'd be devastated if I had to pay full price. Creaking floorboards, old carpet, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, building material debris outside the window. As I said, not bad, but not 4-star. I did like the exceptionally fast and free wifi. The swimming pool was tiny and as soon as two of us (both good swimmers) entered the water, the pool was effectively full so don't plan on doing a few laps before dinner. Overall, 'ok', but see if you can find something else.

only complaint rooms very small had to shuffle sideways along the bottom of the bed to get to the bathroom

everything at the crescent was brilliant from the minute we checked in to leaving the staff are so friendly cant do enough for you it is spotlessly clean we had a standard twin room it was spacious and a lovely big bathroom the food was great a huge breakfast and we booked an evening meal with steaks to die for will we be back? WE SURE WILL

We had a lovely weekend at the Admiral Apartments.The owner Seb is a a lovely helpful owner who couldn't do enough to help us.We hope to go back again very soon!

After years of staying in bed and breakfasts in Scarborough, we finally found one that makes you want to stay longer, friendly welcome, everything explained, a pass for parking, lovely clean room, very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, made us feel at home.

breakfast was poor one sausage one small piece of bacon few beans and one very small tomato i think hotel could do better it was ok for a child it looked a bit lost on plate considering everything else was perfect
