Traveler impressions of Toowoomba

More about Toowoomba

The region of Toowoomba offers a relaxed getaway destination, locally historic sites, and numerous natural attractions. After Canberra, this is the second largest inland city. Toowoomba Aerodrome accepts charter flights, but is more a flying school and also hosts one of the finest collections of warbirds in Australia. The region is easily reached from Brisbane in about 90 minutes by road.

Toowoomba has several attractions that make for a nice day strolling about and soaking up history. There are numerous historic walks that can be followed, and with provided brochures that can be found throughout the city, it’s bound to be an educational and exciting adventure for history lovers. Jondaryan Woolshed is heritage-listed and is the world’s oldest and largest operating woolshed. Empire Theater is another heritage-listed site and is still active today with a state-of-the-art facility hosting plays, concerts, and ballets. The Tombstone Trails are another way to stroll through time and include walks through the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery which was established in the 19th century. Queens Park and the Botanical Gardens make for a leisurely outing, and Picnic Point is a beautiful outlook destination. For those looking to hit up a museum, there is the Cobb & Co Museum which features horse-drawn vehicles.
