I have lived in Laos for 4 years and been to Luang Prabang more times than I can remember between business trips and friends and family coming to visit. My Dream was far and away the best experience I have had, not only in Luang Prabang but in all of Laos. The staff simply exude kindness, competency, and true Lao hospitality to the highest standard. The rooms and facilities themselves were beautiful, spotlessly clean, and my favourite style of rustic simplicity and elegance. The grounds are a very private feeling garden bursting with life and plenty of flowers and shade. There are not one but two beautiful pools and not to mention the gorgeous private garden by the river. I personally love this location just across the namkhan River from the old town. Less than 10 minutes on foot across the bamboo bridge and you are in the heart of Old Town. Any inconvenience in the location is made up by the free bicycles and regular shuttles. The breakfast buffet was simple but delicious and well done. But more than anything I want to applaud the staff, especially Ms. Phoud who made our stay the best ever in Laos! Khop jai!

Luang Prabang is definitely the place to go for your special eco-tourism. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day 4-night stay at the Villa Maly Boutique Hotel, a surprisingly pleasant, romantic, and peaceful hideaway gem in the heart of Luang Prabang. We visited the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls, about an hours drive from our hotel, and were delighted to experience nature's unspoilt beauty in its prime. This site is also a sanctuary for bears at the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre. The multiple tiered waterfalls are one of Laos' most impressive attraction. Certainly a trip worthy of your holiday time and effort! Finally, we also visited the up and coming Green Jungle Park, by boat and van. This place is fantastic and we experienced natural waterfalls and flower gardens, including a female water buffalo mascot affectionately named Dong, that will be upgraded pretty soon into a holiday resort. We will definitely come again with a bigger group next year!

S Park is a great new hotel which is priced reasonably relative to the rest of Laos. The room was spacious and well designed with a separate toilet to bathroom although it literally had the worst pillows I've ever slept on in my life. They were like pillow cases filled with random, lumpy handfuls of cotton wool. The pool is great but doesn't have enough sun beds in the middle of the day. The gym is small but well equipped for a hotel with brand new equipment, we were very happy with it. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. The wifi was good/fast but has a ridiculous set up where you needed a separate login for every device and then you have to log in every time you lock your phone or close your laptop. Breakfast was decent, above average for Laos hotels from our experience. The hotel is a little far from town, about 2km walk which was okay for us but may need a Tuk Tuk/hotel shuttle. Our room located at the front received some noise from the popular bar/restaurant downstairs and as our window was broken and didn't lock, was hard to block out. Overall a good stay here and highly recommend when staying in Vientiane.

What a wonderful resort! We absolutely loved our stay at the Pullman. The service was exceptional - everyone was so thoughtful about even the smallest details. We were upgraded to a large and lovely room. The rooms are new, clean and comfortable - we loved the large shower and bathtub. The hotel has 3 different pools all with beautiful views. We appreciated the quiet of the adults only pool. The restaurants and food were delicious. The hotel was offering a great deal for the spa and we were impressed with the quality of service. Although this hotel is not in town, it is a short van ride away. The setting of the hills and gardens is peaceful, relaxing, and exactly what we were looking for! I cannot wait to come back!

This is best hotel compare with its price. Nice room condition and good facilities. you can use gym and swimming pool for free. Staffs of hotel speak English well and they are kind enough. but It's quite far from main street and you cannot find tuktuk easily. If you think about renting motorbike or car when you come to Lao, I recommend this hotel. and do not use back alley at night time.

We had planned for a 5 nights stay, but we only managed 4 nights due to a broken bus transport from LP that caused us have our trip delayed. (Our Journey took 14hrs in total instead of 4hrs) Special Thanks to Mr. Kosol (believed he is the front desk manager) as his replies were quick and assuring. While we were trapped in the high mountains in the dark, i msged the hotel facebook to notify our situation and request for pick ups since we reached VV 5am the next morning. Mr Kosol sensed we were quite worried and replied promptly to our call outs. Location of Hotel is at her Best. although VV isnt a big place and most hotels are convenient in general, Amari is located at 1 of the sweetest spot along the river. We both loved the view from our room totally. Room is of good quality, bed is of the sofer side. while i prefer the harder type, my partner has no issue with it. Breakfast options are plenty in the plentiful cafes and restaurant in the streets, please skip the hotel breakfast unless you are looking for the standard hotel breakfast style. hotel staffs are friendly and sincere and able to communicate effectively. Will Definately be our top choice for our 2nd trip to VV!!

It is quite good, but I would not rate this establishment 5 stars. I understand that to some extent the star system is based on location, and what type of competition is around, as opposed to an established guideline. Meaning a 4 star hotel in Thailand is often times better equipped than a 5 star hotel in laos, but there are several reasons why I don't believe it should be rated 5 stars - even for laos. 1) The walls are thin, and you can hear conversations in adjacent rooms. 2) Gym is actually quite small, and not fitted with appropriate equipment that you would typically find at five star establishments. 3) The business center is not adequate. A business center should be in a private room, not in the corner of a lobby. Considering that this establishment is quite large, its strange that they cannot dedicate one room to creating a proper business center. But overall, its priced fairly.

The design of each room in this luxury resort are inspired by one of the eight ethnic minority groups found in Laos (Akha, Hmong, Katu, Lanten, Lao Lum, Tai Daeng, Tai Lue and Yao.) . Each room also have a card describing the profile of the ethnic group it is designed after. I had a Katu room. The rooms are very stylishly designed and is very comfortable and clean. The balcony also offers a magnificent view of the rock formations across the river from the hotel. The hotel also has a very nice garden and swimming pool. Relaxing in the pool and looking at the view of the rock formation is relaxation to the max. The hotel also provides bicycle to explore the area around the hotel. i highly recommend getting a bicycle to ride to the area across the bridge next to the hotels to explore the area as it offers impressive views and great photos shot opportunities of the limestone formations and rice paddies. The hotel charges USD 6 for a normal bike and USD 7 for a mountain bike if you book the hotel through other sources like agoda.com but offers the bikes for free if you book directly through the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the best resort i ever stayed at and the price i paid for such a beautiful hotel with such stylish room is very very reasonable. I will definitely stay here again if i visit vang vieng again.

This is a charming place set in a lush green hillside, close to LP town center. Both exterior and interior design is beautiful, rooms are very clean with nice amenities. The pool area is beautiful and so relaxing. There is a small but well-equipped gym at the top floor with nice views to take in while working out. The staff is very friendly. Even through the shuttle to the town only runs from 17:30 to 21:30, they will provide you a ride during the day if the drivers are available. Breakfast a la cart is very good - they have over 10 options of eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc. The only thing I was missing (and this is true for other Laos hotels I stayed in), is the non-pork options in cold cuts and unsweetened yogurt, or cream cheese of some sort. One other small suggestion would be to upgrade the public bathrooms (toilet seats) as they do not live up to the standards of the whole place. But for the hotel guest that is a minor issue as the rooms are well appointed.

We booked this hotel as our "splurge" hotel in Laos and was happy with it. Before arriving, we read somewhere it is a green oasis in a dusty city. The hotel is just that! It is located out of the city centre but is an easy walk or tuk tuk drive away. The hotel has a free shuttle which goes every hour which is very useful but we had rented a motorcycle so used that instead. We arrived in the morning after our night bus from Pakse and was disappointed that we were unable to use the pool after checking in as we needed to wait until our room was ready. The staff were friendly; the room was amazing; the view of the pool from our patio was great and the pool was refreshing. Overall it was a good hotel and would recommend it.

The location of this hotel is lovely, set on a hill just outside the town with amazing views of the town and surrounding mountains. The hotel is quite new so our room was very comfortable and in good condition. The staff were all fantastic, particularly the general manger, and they went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Despite the level of English varying between staff, all our requests were dealt with very promptly (perhaps because the hotel didn't seem particularly full while we were there) and they were very happy to assist with restaurant reservations, arranging tuk tuks for day trips etc. We didn't use the infinity pool as it was a little cold (and there is so much else to do and see in Luang Prabang so we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel) but it looked lovely. The gym was small but well equipped, and wi-fi was provided free in the rooms. The free shuttle bus to town was very handy given the hotel is a little out of the way, however the last shuttle bus returning to the hotel leaves at 9.15pm, which made it a bit rushed when eating dinner in town - a bus leaving at 10pm would have been ideal although it was easy enough to get a tuk tuk back to the hotel. The food at the hotel was decent, although not as good as equivalent hotels in other countries, and food and drinks were very expensive (same price you would pay at 5 star hotels elsewhere in the world, but when compared with top restaurants in the town it seemed a bit overpriced for Laos). As there are a lot of fantastic restaurants to choose from in Luang Prabang we didn't end up eating at the hotel other than breakfast. All in all we had a great stay - Luang Prabang is a fantastic place and we would definitely choose to stay at the Shinta Mani again if we return to Luang Prabang.

If you are unable to do water activities in Vang Vieng (like us - half of us were sick inc my 5 yo son), then you can still do other stuff like pony riding, hot air balloon ride and seeing the sights. We spent 2 days in VV and really enjoyed this leg of our Laos trip. The hotel is in an excellent location with killer views and walking distance to the local food scene. The only drawback was the loud music coming from across the river until 10-11pm which we were ok with. And if u love dogs & ponies... do check out the pony riding for small children. Barry the trainer does a wonderful job and I am still so thankful to her for taking such great care of my son. He did not fear the ponies at all. The hotel dogs also got my son to overcome his fear of dogs and he still talks about them. The cocktail hour at the pool is also a must-do! Sunset, cocktails and an awesome view is the best way to end the day. The people are super friendly and always greet you with smiles esp if there is a child.

We stayed at this brand new luxury hotel just 2 weeks after it's soft opening, therefore there were a couple things that they are still working on and many of the staff are still training. With that said, we were very impressed by the hotel and every single one of the hotel staff we met were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. The location is just down the street from Wat Xiengthong, the oldest and grandest of the LP temples. Also, the monks pass right in front of the hotel every morning during the alm ceremony. The hotel is right on the Mekong river, with views from some of the rooms and the restaurant. The hotel is also in a very quiet part of town, but is only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town. The rooms are very well appointed and beautifully decorated. They preserved the look and feel of this prior royal palace, but updated the facilities with every modern amenity you would look for in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately, there is no swimming pool due to the location within the world heritage park. However, some of the larger rooms apparently have private plunge pools. The breakfast was very good, although the options are a little limited. They had two options for Lao breakfast dishes, that you unfortunately have to request the previous day since they take some time to prepare. It's worth asking for though, since both were delicious. Hopefully, as the hotels gets busier, they will make these dishes available every day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Xiengthong Palace and would happily stay there again on our next trip to Lao.

I stayed at Vang Vieng Central Park Hotel few days ago. I liked it so much because it was a very perfect hotel in Laos. A new hotel with nice staff who made my stay better than i expected. They helped me to find where to go and what to do in Vang vieng. And the hotel staff arranged my trip with a perfect services. Hotel location is in the centre of the city where i could go shopping or go on foot to some bars. Rooms were spacious and so clean. I was served free breakfast in the morning. Totally i loved it much and i will come back soon. Highly recommended.

We have visited Luang Prabang once before and love the peace and tranquillity. This year we decided to spend 2 months in SE Asia with 2 weeks in LP. I booked this hotel online. It was a bit over our- low - budget but we decided to treat ourselves. We could not have been happier. The staff were excellent. There was always someone available if we had a need or problem and several spoke excellent English. The breakfast was very good- a choice of Thai and Western- or both. The pool was a wonderful relief after the heat of the city. There was even a real ‘ deep end’ to do a few exercises. It was also possible to have cocktails and / or dinner by the pool. I hadn’t realised that this hotel is run in tandem with Lao Airlines. When it was time to leave we could check in at the hotel, our luggage was weighed and we were transported to the airport checkin free of charge. Because we stayed for 2 weeks our room was upgraded on arrival and we were given a free dinner one evening before we left

just finished a 6 night stay at sabaidee@lao hotel. i had a great time there. i originally booked at another hotel, but was much happier with the location of this one. it is just off one of the main roads, so it stays pretty quite. i am always a late riser and leave the room at 1 or 2 pm. this was never a problem for house keeping, and i never had to ask for them to clean the room. all of the staff was friendly and easy to deal with. i ate the buffet breakfast twice, and found it to be your average breakfast, nothing special, but it was not bad either. it is a nice new hotel and it shows as such. the bed was a little firm for me, but that is just personal taste. the last 2 nights there, the wifi was spotty at best, however the rest of the time it was great. there is a massage place next door if you want to go all opulent and spend some big money on a massage, or if you go around the corner just a short bit, there is a traditional lao massage place for a fraction of the cost. i would most definitely stay here again.

Best staff in Laos! They were so thoughtful to present us with a cake to help us celebrate our 10 year anniversary. 8 members of staff surprised us with knock at our door, a delicious cake and wished us a happy marriage. My husband had tears in his eyes. The room was fantastical. If you are classy and wealthy enough for this hotel, you'd be foolish to stay anywhere else. The only thing our room was lacking is a big umbrella on the balcony. It was too hot to sit outside in the afternoon but a nice patio set with umbrella would make it perfect. Also, a selection of plates and glasses in the room would be helpful. I know one can order such things from room service but we hated having to summon someone everytime we needed a clean glass. Thank you to the fantastic staff. We will see you again soon.

This hotel is a five start quality with 4 start hospitality - food is OK for Laos and is really a nice establishment. If you are an upper-class traveler i Vientien, this is your hotel to stay! I stayed in a suite and it was a six star quality. It was one of the best value I experienced in a while.

an old fashioned hotel of french heritage on the banks of the mekong but clean and well maintained. breakfast is typical of thai laos hotels but adequate for the price because this hotel dis great value for money. the hotel is in a quiet area and is about 2 kilometers from the city center a nice walk along the mekong banks as the footpaths are good for most of the way

It was our first hotel in Laos and we were really pleased with our choice. Location is good,rooms very nice with great hot showers. 5 mins walk from centre and all the attractions. The staff were very friendly with reasonably good english. Not cheap hotel, considering but worth every cent. We loved our stay there. Would definitely recommend.

River View Bungalows is located on the little island in the middle of Song river (behind Saysong Guesthouse but face directly with Song river & mountains). My sisters and I stayed in the Mountain River View room (Triple single bed), we can see the Song river and beautiful mountains from the windows. The room is very clean, not too small for three persons and well equipped with standard facilities. The staff & owner are also warm & friendly, they all can speak well English, Thai, and Lao. WIFI service is available at the restaurant and lobby area. (However, it would be better if the WIFI is avaiable from guestroom.) The breakfast is also very delicious and big enough to make you're full until dinner time!! We love it!! There is a Convienience Store in front of the guesthouse where you can buy the personnel care products, snack, beverage etc. Money exchange & Bus ticket to Vientiane & other cities is also available there with reasonable price. There are a lot of local & international restaurant around there. The outdoor activities such as Tubing, Canoeing, Kayking, Cruising, Bicycling etc. are also avaiable. The bungalow is very easy to find & close to everything. It seems that everyone there know this bungalow & Saysong Guesthouse (This bungalows is at the same place of Saysong GH (close to Tubing station). We think the bungalows is suitable for everyone who would like to have a rest or escape from the busy city. ชอบเฮือนพักหลายๆ .. จะกลับไปเยือนอีกแน่ๆ เด้อ!!

Satri House is a beautiful hotel built in contemporary colonial style to complement the original house still in its grounds (ask for a tour, it's amazing). The ultra-sophisticated and charming owner, , has overseen the exquisite design which is both visually stunning and extremely comfortable, utilising the best of Lao fabrics, furniture and handicrafts. Surprises greet the guest at every turn. A niched wall of resin buddha figures. A colonial-style library packed with engaging books and magazines. My Deluxe room had a terracotta tiled verandah overlooking the main lily pond. It had a table, chairs and silk cushioned daybed and was screened with billowing white muslin curtains. I could have lived out there. In fact I almost did. The bathroom is almost completely tiled in emerald green and is cool and inviting, although the massive rain shower does tend to flood the floor and it could benefit from a shelf in the shower for toiletries. Some reviewers have mentioned the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. As a very early riser who needs a 6am caffeine fix, I was disappointed by this as well, but as soon as I mentioned it, a kettle and even a Nespresso machine appeared in my room. The food was great too - my favourite being the fish/pork grilled in a banana leaf and the tomato and tamarind jams for breakfast. The jams are made by the redoubtable Madame Mem, whose role it appears is to 'talk to guests'. Do talk to her and you will gain a fantastic insight into the Lao way of life. Another of my favourite things was the system of pom-pom loops to signal whether you wanted your room serviced or to be left alone. I'm always a sucker for a pompom.

After a less than comfortable overnight train from Bangkok and rain-soaked 40minute tuk-tuk ride from the Thanaleng station, the Salana Boutique Hotel was a welcome surprise. Only a few months old, the hotel had all the latest furnishings. The design was excellent and construction high quality. There was even a window in our shower that looked into a small meditation garden. The beds were extremely comfortable to sleep on and our window looked out onto a beautiful wat. I think the hotel is surrounded by wats on both sides so you'll always get a great view. The reception was extremely friendly and helpful--even letting us check in early around 10am. And, the breakfast was excellent! We also stayed at a slightly cheaper but new hotel, Sabaidee @ Lao Hotel. It was 20 USD cheaper than Salana, but definitely much worse. The whole time, we were wishing we had returned to the Salana Boutique. Final Verdict: This would be our top choice if we were to return to Vientiane.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to Vang Vieng from 25-27 July. Seriously, the photos of the hotel from the internet are exactly the same as what you going to get when you see it with your own eyes. It's breathtaking and looks like the view that you can only obtain from a postcard. Value wise, the hotel consider well worth it with this kind of view. Not to forget, the breakfast served are superb - the best I had tasted throughout our visit in Laos. The staffs also very friendly, especially Thorn which often serve us at the restaurant. One downside, in order to get to the hotel from the town, you need to cross this man-made bridge that the local charge a tol fees - different price for walking, with bicycle or bike, and by tuk tuk. Hence not many tuk tuk willing to send you to the hotel. They will just stop you at the bridge and you need to walk 5 min to reach the hotel.

This has got to be one of the best hotels I've stayed at in South East Asia (or anywhere!) - even when compared to more expensive hotels. It is simple and unpretentious but has a style, elegance, grace and charm that recalls famous hotels from bygone eras. The staff are very polite, but also friendly. Most, except for housekeeping, speak English well but are also happy to take time to teach you some words and phrases in Lao. They are extremely helpful in providing whatever information or assistance you need. The building, though relatively new, has a style that recalls an older European colonial-style hotel with teak floors and wood furnishings in the spacious rooms. The bathrooms are large and very modern. The breakfast buffet is enormous and has both Asian and Western breakfast fare; eat there in the morning and you will find yourself satisfied for most of the day! The location couldn't be better. Minutes from almost everything which means you can go out for a few hours and then go back to your room to rest, change clothes, drop off or pick things up, etc. The hotel also provides its own private airport pick-up and delivery for guests. Just let them know the time. For me, this is, hands down, one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had and will definitely return in the future.

V Hotel was very fine. I paid $7.00 for a taxi from the airport. $21.00 dollars per night. Clean room, good air con, good elevator, hot water in the shower. You also get a light breakfast from 8;00 to 9:30. I saw no flaws with V Hotel, but Vientiane? Never Again. It's now huge and sprawling. No maps available for the crooked main sts. So I took a jarring 6 1/2 van ride to Vong Vieng, Laos' Party City. It was so friggin' boring (The place shuts down at ten p.m. I couldn't believe it) I went right back to Vientiane, then back to Thailand. The airport in Vientiane also SUCKS. There's 9 Immig. Officers doing absolutely nothing, while all VISA applicants are put into ONE LINE that barely moves. I stood in line for at least 1 1/2 hrs. GET YOUR VISA BEFOREHAND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Nice modern hotel. My only pet peeve is the staff speaking to my boyfriend as “sir” and not speaking to me directly. But I’ve had this experience at another hotel in Laos. Although when you are trying to deliver a nice experience to a couple, if you are going to speak to “sir”, you should also be able to speak to “ma’am”.
