The best value for money in our month long trip in Japan! Super clean, great amenities.”
This place is brand new, super clean, equipped with high quality fixtures, great kitchen appliances, nice bath and yet so affordable! We got a private room for our family of four and really enjoyed our stay. We have travelled all over the country from Tohoku all the way down to Yakushima and found this place to be the best value for money. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ended up cooking quite a bit just because it was so fun to use the kitchen and their nice big dinning table. I particularly like the Japanese grill/oven/steamer. It is about 20 mins away from Kyoto central by subway but we didn't mind. There were plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, Daiso within a walking distance. And you can ride bicycles to explore the more rural landscape nearby, including a tea plantation. This place felt like a home away from home. But much cleaner. :)

Great place for the value ”
It’s a hostel but very clean, very nice staff though their hours are limited , privacy in the bed by having a curtain, power out let and security lock all within the bed, bunk bed style , 15 min walk to Nara station JR line, calm peaceful safe feel to the area, I recommend this place if you’re comfortable with a hostel

Amazing ”
This place was amazing! Down a cute little road but still super close to Nara park & everything around it. The main building is 120 years old so a little creaky but that adds to its charm. It’s a fantastic building!! We stayed in the little pods out in the front building which was super comfy and even though it was a pod it was very spacious. But there are family rooms in the main building. Staff were so so lovely

Great hospitality, very authentic feeling of a ryokan for much less”
Very pleasantly surprised by our stay—the hospitality was great, and the garden was beautiful. The shared showers were not a problem at all, and the water was hot with high pressure. The toiletries were also surprisingly upscale. The room was very traditional but exactly what we wanted!

Beautiful place”
I stayed here for one night in March 2018. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; felt like an expensive hotel! The building is over 100 years old, and looks lovely. Free tea and wifi (although the wifi wasn't that fast, it was fast enough). The dorms were in the mini-capsule style; not a huge amount of space, but comfy and private to sleep in. Toilet and shower were clean and nice. Perhaps a 15~20min walk from the station, 25~30 from Nara Park, 30~35 from Todaiji temple. Would stay again :)

An experience. ”
Enjoyed our stay, it is truly an experience of a traditional japanese house. Ambience was awesome and the staff was friendly and helpful. Midnight snacks in the common area was fun. Tatami was warm and comfortable. The only thing we didnt like was the limited check in timing which closes latest at 9pm. We were late on our first night and couldnt contact the staff to inform beforehand. With better planning, qould definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Very unique stay in Nara, instead of normal modern hotels. It’s a beautiful old house , slightly away from touristic sits but within walking distance. Staff are very professional and definitely value for money. 2 adults and 2 kids(8 and 10) stayed in the probably the biggest room with private toilet and a small sink, facing a pretty garden. Walls are very thin as they described on their website clearly, but it’s a good experience for kids to have to be silent at times. Shared bathroom is a bit antique, and COLD in the winter...that is the only challenging bit, really. Overall though, it is a fun stay if you like a bit of adventure and old Japanese style experience in Nara.

Stay at HARUYA Hostels Naramachi”
We stayed at HARUYA Hostels Naramachi for 1 night. The rooms are really nice and comfortable. The hostel does ask you to be quiet after 10pm, but there is nobody there to enforce it if there is an issue. For us, a man stayed up in the common room right by our room (206) and spoke loudly until 5am even if we asked him repeatedly to be quiet. When we woke up the next morning he was sleeping on the floor of the common room, which was a bit strange. We would still stay there and hope that this was just a one off.
