Ideal short stay”
We stayed three nights and found it very convenient for major tourist sights around Old Town. Staff were great. Breakfast was excellent, including vegetarian options. Room was comfortable and clean. In all we were very happy and would stay again.

I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The rooms were modern, clean with nice interiors. The reception was very nice and helpful. Location was also okay. We were able to walk to the edinburgh castle and holyrood palace. Its also near the bus stop. I would definitely stay in this hotel again if i go back to scotland. Very good value for money.
nice stay and interesting history”
Our room was comfortable - even a corner room had good window insulation so noise was not an issue. Staff was helpful, and we liked staying in this part of town - just enough on the outskirts to be quieter but not too far to walk to everything.

Our team is quite enthusiastic about providing the best possible customer service. We will pass your kind words to them. We look forward to welcome you again, on your next visit to Edinburgh. Walkable distances to Edinburgh castle and many good restaurants. House keeping needs to be improved. Staffs are well trained.

A great hotel for the price”
I had a lovely time staying here. The staff was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit basic but still very nice. It's only about a 10-15 minute walk to the city center. I would definitely stay here again.
Dear Megan, Many thanks for the great review. Delighted to read you scored us full marks. It's kind of you to highlight the staff - the team work very hard to provide great service and it's rewarding for this to be recognised. I'm happy to read you'd visit us again - we look forward to welcoming you back. Best regards, Kirsty, Guest Services Team
Good convenient location in quiet area. Well maintained room. Friendly staff. Good breakfast .”
Felt we paid a premium rate on-line and someone in front of us who paid on day got a much cheaper rate. Hotel is really well kept room very well maintained and equipped. Staff helpful and friendly and it's in a quiet location but not too far to walk to Princes Street - I would stay again.
Many thanks for the review. We appreciate you taking the time to feedback to us. Our rates do vary but as a rule they get higher the close to arrival date. That being said, some online companies do add on extra charges and fees. Glad you thought so highly of the room and the staff. Everyone works really hard to keep our standards high and it's great when that's noticed. Many thanks again. Regards, Sunny Verma General Manager
Awesome! Room was huge! Location, very good! Staff, friendly and helpful👍🏻👍🏻”
So happy with our stay in Edinburgh city hotel! We had a little welcome gift (a box of chocolate and a welcome note from the manager Mr Sunny and the staffs) as it was our honeymoon, the bathroom was huge, the room was huge! The best one we got from the rest of hotels we stayed in Europe on this trip! Location is very good, 10mins away to edinburgh castle, 2 mins away from local grocery stores, a lot of food options around the area. Bus stop just across the road. Everything is literally within your reach! Would stay here again definitely!
Many thanks for the fantastic review. We don't have favourites but if we did, the honeymooners would win! We feel privileged when people choose our hotel for such a special trip and I'm glad you appreciated the extra touches. We hope you've told everyone they should choose us when they visit Edinburgh. Thanks again for the review. Kindest regards to you both, Sunny Verma General Manager
Wonderful hotel...a tad off thr beaten path, so quiet, which we loved...fabulous staff...”
We had a huge room with 9:ft. ceilings and very comfortable beds...also fabulous breakfast for only £10. We thought the price was very reasonable, considering that we were there during the International Theater Festival...we hated to leave!

pretty nice hotel”
nice room, on bus and HOHO route, easy to get to airport and ocean terminal, good breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. not a bad location being on the bus route but not as good of a location as hotels on or near Royal Mile or Grassmarket. there is a very nice pub nearby called Cloisters Bar. hotel was a little expensive considering the location.
Dear Vicki, Thank you very much for your stay at Edinburgh City Hotel, it is lovely to read that the staff was very helpful and friendly throughout. We do strive to offer excellent customer service to each and every guest. It is also nice to know that you found the breakfast good and the location central with good public transport connection - the hotel is located in a quieter area, a 10-15 walk to each the Old and New Town. Hopefully we can welcome you again in the future. Kind Regards Sunny Verma General Manager
Nice service. Room is spacious. Great location”
We didn't expect the hotel to be so nice. Rooms are spacious with great facilities. Location is amazing -- 20 mins walk from royal mile. The breakfast doesn't have many selections. Otherwise, it's perfect.
Dear Tong, Thank you very much for your stay at Edinburgh City Hotel, I am delighted that you have enjoyed your time with us. Hopefully we can welcome you again in the future. Kind Regards Sunny Verma General Manager
Great hotel with great service ”
The room is spacious with a big heater which was great for winter period. The towels and linens are clean and soft. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good too with hot cooked food available to choose from. Overall very happy with our stay at Edinburgh City Hotel.
Perfect hotel in the heart of the city, very clean, convinent and friendly staff. ”
We arrived at the hotel early about 11am, whereby the check in only at 2pm but the receptionist with last name Ibrahim she arranged a room for us within 15mins of waiting. While waiting we was also served with coffee. I only booked standard double room but our room was upgraded to suite. Furthermore since we arived Eve of Christmas there was welcome chocolate n a card in the room. It was my husband's birthday so I have been emailing Alyaa one of the worker to arrange some cake n small celebration plus a Christmas dinner, she was really amazing she got all this arranged with no cost n she was so friendly. We stayed there 3nights n we really enjoyed. Near to airport n hop n off bus. Near to all restaurants. 1 of the day we was late to breakfast we requested to send to the room n the staff was so good n it was sent to our room even though the request was very late. There was also complimentary of card n chocolate for my husband for his birthday. We Will Go back for sure to same hotel.
fantastic helpful staff ,excellent value for money”
staff were super helpful and friendly (recommend places to go, helped me with some emails and printing, shared a joke whilst dealing with us) . location is great for the money, a quick walk to grassmarket and about 15 mins to princes street. loads of places to go nearby. room not huge for a couple, but clean and not especially cramped. Make sure to adjust the radiator to your preference in winter because they keep the place warm! definitely would recommend
My husband and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel is very clean, the food in their restaurant is excellent. The breakfast was good value. There is no fridge in the room, but they give you ice from the bar. There is a safe. The thing that stood out the most to us was the friendliness of the staff.
Great! Would definitely stay here again”
I stayed solo for 2 nights and walked around the city of Edinburgh. This hotel was exactly what I was looking for...not a chain, very clean and wonderfully simple, but with everything you need, including excellent and helpful staff, a 24 hour bar, and very quiet even though the room window faced the street. It was a great location... all of the main attractions are in walking distance. I did not use the restaurant because there are so many options to choose from in Edinburgh within a short walk. But it's there if you need it. Would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel in a good location”
Great hotel, with very helpful staff. The location is good for the castle, and also only 10mins walk to Princes Street and the mile. Really enjoyed the £20 upgrade offered on arrival - really worth it for the little extras.
Nice hotel in a good location.”
We only spent one night here and as we were out sight seeing most of the time did not really use the hotel room much. Hop on bus stop is just down the road and the staff helped us with our queries on where to go.
Great hotel, in quiet location”
We loved Edinburgh and the trip was enhanced by the Edinburgh city hotel. Located near the universities, it was lovely and quiet and in easy walking distance from the castle, princes street, the royal mile, Arthur's seat etc.Tthe room was spacious, spotlessly clean (a must for us) with tea/coffee making facilities. The only negative was there was no fridge.
Fifteen minute walk from the Castle”
While this hotel is in a good location for access to the castle and sites in the city center like the History Museum, there are not that many restaurants in the area. The hotel has internet, but it was painfully slow! Other guests were promised wifi in their rooms, but it had been "broken" for days with promises of it being fixed. The bar area w/ tall stools for seating is not really cozy--best to find another pub to watch World Cup or to have some atmosphere. The first night it was rather warm and there was a lot of street noise from cars and ambulances servicing a nearby hospital--you had to weigh closing the window to avoid noise, or to roast. Room service was great for one night we ate in the room and the continental breakfast was good. It was good value, I suppose, but in the future I think I'd stay on Grassmarket or closer to the Royal Mile for access to night life and restaurants.
Edinburgh City Hotel”
The hotel room was quite spacious and comfortable. The hotel provided a free internet terminal in the lobby; if you do not wish to carry a laptop which I dont you find that very handy. Breakfast was all one price for the continental buffet or with full Scottish breakfast which was great but not everyone can fit in! Hard to rate staff, some were very nice but one girl on the front desk was quite offhand and unhelpful.
