Stylish and contemporary, what makes this hotel special is the attention given to the finer details in the hospitality and comfort it offers. In the heart of the city, with everything you want to see and do within walking distance, Novotel Edinburgh Centre Hotel couldnt be better situated. Expect a real warm Scottish welcome at this fine hotel where nothing is too much trouble, and the friendly staff are ever eager to please. The superlative range of amenities and facilities are enough to satisfy the most discerning guest. For the health-conscious, visit the gym, relax in the sauna with a steam room, or take a dip in the heated swimming pool. The elegant restaurant offers traditional and international menus while the well-appointed bar is a great place to relax and meet new people. For friendly service and those little extras that make you feel special, this is the place.

BED EXTREME DIRTY , THE BED COVER SHOWED BROWNISH COLOUR AND SANDY , SEEMS NOT BEING CHANGED FOR MONTHS. 3. SHOWER SINK NOT WORKING , CALLED RECEPTION AND BEING ASKED TO WAIT UNTIL THE DAY AFTER AS THERE WAS NO TECHNICIAN AVAILABLE , THE TECHNICIAN CAME ABOUT CHECK OUT TIME BUT AFTER REPAIR STILL NOT WORKING , AT THE END DONE SHOWER AT THE OTHER ROOM. 4. THE WORST HOTEL I EVER STAYED SO FAR.
Clean and spacious hotel, 15mins walk to the old town”
This is a neat, clean and spacious hotel. Shower and room facilities are great. The hotel is just next to the University of Edinburgh. It is a good 15 mins walk to the Old Town where the attractions are and about 10 mins to a small area where you can do banking and dining. Breakfast was good though staff serving is abit slow.
Hotel is good but staff unprofessional ”
In general hotel Hardware is good but service feft terrible by 3 complains. Unprofessional checkin exp at the beginning. We booked rooms inc. breakfast, but staff seems forget that and didn't tell about info about breakfast and attitude make me feel cold. We booked rooms for 2 nights, but we need to change room key at second day without any notice, which is rediculous why I need to change room key at my second stay? Finally, the housekeeper mistakingly take 3 of our switch adopters because they may think it's belonging to hotel, which is very rediculous that 1. We stay in hotel for 2nightd and they took away switch auditor at 1st night; 2. The type of 3 adopters are different from hotel's in color and make no sense to make this mistake. By the way, when talking this issue with receptionist, her attitude shows it seems not hotel mistake even if her attitude is no unfriendly.
I was there three nights. Got there early for check in but they had a room ready so let me check in there and then. Room was a great size - really large for a hotel room. Location is right round the corner from Grassmarket so brilliant for unique little places and bars and restaurants and a nice walk up to the Royal Mile. I ate twice in the hotel and was impressed with the quality of the food. My only complaints would be that the heating wasn't great - didn't seem to make much of a difference when I had it on. Also, the shower was too hot and I couldn't seem to change the temperature - close to scalding temperature. I did let them know at front desk and they said they would have a look but I didn't notice any difference. Great size bathroom with a bath and a separate shower and the toilet itself completely separate. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small but cute! I would happily stay there again.
Old hotel ”
In general, I was expecting better stay condition since it claimed to be 4 star hotel. Apart from the very old furniture and old-fashion bathroom, a very helpful staff service has offset it. Maybe I was just being unfortunate to have that rusty old room. However, I don't think I will be back for this hotel again.
Check in was easy and pleasant requested a quiet room and it was comfortable and very quiet (particularly for a city centre), Excellent size room with sofa bed for children, might bring the grand kids next time. Breakfast a little busy on the first morning but calm restored on the other mornings, good selection of food. Had the table d'hote menu in restaurant 2 evenings which was very good (and reasonable). Nice little swimming pool/Jacuzzi/sauna/steam room. Biggest plus however were the staff all very pleasant and very helpful
We really enjoyed our stay at the Novotel. If using the map which the hotel supplies, you may want to turn it upside down. We didnt and ended up walking completely out of our way. Having said that, the location is fantastic and is a beautiful walk towards the Royal Mile and all the stunning architecture on the way. Not difficult to see where J K Rowling got her inspiration for Happy Potter!!
Everything is what you would expect a premium chain to be, great bedding, comfy bed, excellent food. Just the location for us was a bit if a pain, but I suppose that's cos Edinburgh is so hilly! If you don't mind walking to get into the city this is the place for you.
Pleasant One Night Stay”
My first stay at this hotel. Only one night, but it provided as advertised. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of buffet selections. Friends suggested that the restaurant was a bit short-staffed at busy breakfast times, but I encountered no problems. The room was comfortable and clean, but obviously had been "lived in". Very good location near Tolcross and The Meadows, and within 10-15 minutes walk from Grassmarket and Princes Street. £100 for 1 night seemed a bit steep, but maybe I'm contaminated by Bangkok prices. Overall, though, I'd happily recommend the hotel.
Excellent room, early check-in ,central”
Booked this hotel for 2 nights sightseeing and nightlife in Edinburgh, was pleased with hotel, clean and spaceous room with curteous staff! Just a short walk from Grassmarket and Old Town. Would definately recommend!!
Very nice business hotel”
Very clean hotel that was easy to walk to the city center from. The staff was helpful in making sure we could catch a very early train on our last morning. Walking distance to Edinburgh Castle but it wouldn't be a recommended walk.
shooping quite a distance to princess street, ”
as i know from the website only a few hotel with air con, so this hotel one of them ,my son enjoy the heated pool and jazucci, only problem a long walk to the shopping area like primcess street, overall okay to stay
Enjoyable three night stay rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet at night with nice extra features such as minibar, safe and hairdryer. The central location meant it wasn't far to access city attractions as well as pubs and restaurants. The service was always good and the leisure suite was easily accessible and very pleasant.
In the room, we were taken aback by the huge bathroom. After doing my job, I pulled the red string in the tiolet, Thinking it's the exhaust fan. We then realised, we were given a room meant for wheel- chair users Guests shd be asked whether they mind taking such room in the first place We did change room after that
Renovations Noise Disturbancr”
We were not informed at any point during online booking or check-in that there would be renovations taking place. So the Monday morning which we took off of work to have a long weekend and a lie in was disturbed by drilling and hammering. This could have been acceptable if only we had the courtesy of being told about it in advance by staff!
Good Location, Good Rooms”
Everything was good
Lovely hotel, great location ”
Lovely and modern, large room. Great location near Grass Market and Castle. Has its own bar and restaurant, breakfast was excellent
Disappointing, as we have been located to the room that the floor is being under construction (4th floor), so we have to go to 5th Floor, then step down with my big luggage to 4th Floor, and same when we want to go out , need to step up first. Floor which is unclean, messy..,. I am disappointing, as have not been informed before.. Also no drinking water provided ..
Hotel was not as good as we had expected.”
WE expected a better standard to this hotel. It was very much like a travel lodge but not a travel lodge price. Toilet is separate from the main bathroom but no wash hand basin in the toilet so you had to then go to the bathroom to wash your hands. Breakfast was not the best for £8.95.
