Good location but unnecessary charges ”
Our room was next to some sort of water system that sounded like running water constantly. I did report it but nothing was done. The room was fairly clean, few hairs in the bathroom. There was also a pin on our carpet and I also saw some in the hallway outside our room. Not ideal when you have a toddler on the floor. Room size was good and bed although a little lumpy was comfortable. The real negative feedback I have is that when you check in you have to pay a retainer for any money spent - £168. Then on check out you have to pay a further £85 for facilities. The retainer is then returned but I feel this is unnecessary. Keeping card details would be enough. Location is perfect for getting to central park and mid town.

Beware of cheats, stinky bathrooms”
Without telling their guests, they sneak in a "facilities charge" of forty dollars a night for providing internet, telephones and a cheap breakfast that is worse than one at a street vendor, and not worth even two dollars. What really bugged me is the lack of principle: THEY SNUCK IN THE CHARGE WITHOUT TELLING YOU OR GIVING YOU THE OPTION. you only find out upon check out that you'd received these "facilities" at their "resort". Ha! Oh and the bathroom stinks like the sewer. The plumbing must be a hundred years old. Yech.

Excellent place for the rich!”
This is an excellent but expensive place for travelers. The facilities in the building are old and might not work well to withstand bad weather (e.g. I lived there on May 27th, which is unexpectedly freezing compared to days before and after in NYC.). However, counter managers are very hospitable and could be helpful to solve the problems you might meet. NOTE that you will be charged a $37 per day facility fee not included in your prepayment!!!! I was quite confused about this charge when I was leaving but I find this website that explains everything (http://killresortfees.com/newyorkcity/). And I have to say this is the only thing that I am not happy with.

Acceptable”
Absolutely terrible! Worn out hotel! All amenities are way too old, cracked toilet, very dirty basin, stained bath, dryer not working. There is no room service even if you want just tea! No kettle in the room either. The only plus is we had a Central Park view. I have booked two rooms with a view 5 month in advance however when we arrived after 15 hour flight they told me they don't have the rooms with park view only with partial view and try to tell me that it was what I booked!!!! Untill I showed them confirmation they insisted i did not book the rooms with a view. After that me and kids have to wait about an hour while they try to move other guests around to give us our room! Thanks for that at least! Breakfast wa also awful, eggs watery, bacon too greasy and no other options are eatable except bagels which i am sure they get delivered not baked in house. We end up going to the hotel on the corner of 58th and 6th. The 1 hotel and have breakfast there every day! Excellent food!

Great location. All the rest below average ”
The location couldn’t be better in NYC. However they are charging about $600 per night including hidden and unexpected charges for a basic room 2 beds back street view (not Central Park view) - no breakfast. Nothing in the room: no bathrobe, no slippers, no kettle. Old carpets and furniture. Old and inconvenient bathroom. Probably the location can compensate- and it’s seems to be their strategy

Great location - that's all!”
We checked in at around 11pm to be told that the 2 rooms we'd booked with views over Central Park had been either been given away or were never really available as they had been booked via Agoda. The man on reception was making no sense and seemed unsure himself what he was telling us. After going off to speak to a superior, he came back five minutes later and told us that we would have to have lower non-park view rooms for one night only but that an "upgrade" would be arranged after 10am the next day with the hotel automatically moving all of our luggage to the higher grade rooms. The manager on duty the next day knew nothing about this and we had to have a further argument to get it resolved. We went out for the day and came back around 5 PM and to help her but not been assigned to new rooms. This resulted in an unsightly argument at the front desk before we got the new rooms an hour later, but after much stress. Rooms were dirty. Hotel generally dirty and shabby.

Remove the carpets in the rooms and it's a fantastic hotel. Though clean as can be the carpets are now looking tired. Replace the old bathtubs/showers with shower stalls. Done and it's one of the best hotels in NY.

Great location, spacious room. There was $33 fee added, but there is a hospitality hour from 5-7, which was nice. There was no coffee maker in the room, or blow dryer, frig, or ice bucket... but we did not have a need for any of those items.

great location but hidden costs”
The location is amazing and you can walk everywhere: Central Park, and shops. I was saving money on transport costs so location was important. Room was great, staff ok, took 5 hours to have a pachage delivered from downstairs to my room. Room service was pricey and even though I had prepaid for the hotel, I still got hit with daily facility charges on checkout. If everything was all inclusive in stated price it would be better. Instead their advertised price is lower then still charge you more. Overall still a good experience. I would stay here again because of location.

Our review of the Park Lane Hotel ”
Very disappointed. We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and had fond memories of the hotel and our room. But now your hotel looked old, a little run down and with that now being the case..... overpriced. This visit we were given a room that looked old and in need of updating. Not as nice of a room as our first visit. Hope you take this review in a positive way and do what needs to be done at your hotel. Thanks Tom Natoli
