Traveler impressions of Stockholm
I had a fantastic time in the city. It was wonderful weather - a bit cold but bright sunshine - and perfect for walking around.
I really enjoyed nipping into little boutique shops, grabbing a cake in a little cafe and popping into the odd museum. It was a city I could live in.
Stockholm has an excellent transit system, and is pedestrian friendly. Regal architecture set along seemingly endless waterfronts means it's visually stunning and wondrous to explore.
It's an elegant place with a more refined feeling than perhaps cities like Malmo, and this can give a perception of it as being somewhat aloof and well behaved. Compared with earlier visits, the homeless immigrant population unfortunately appears to be on the increase.
a clean and beautiful city. But sometime can be user-unfriendly as English is not widely used in the signboard.
Beautiful city especially the old town. But personally think too busy in the shopping area. And the shops are mostly chained and large-scaled ones.
I like small shops with their own characters. Met people who asked us to donate which gave me bad impression. Taxi driver tried to asked more money then what we agreed.
English is not a problem. Very clean and healthy lifestyle. Museums are very good. Must see vasa and nordsk.
Food is fresh and we had no problems choosing where to eat. Cake shops are a treat We were there in october and unfortunately many tours had stopped Must go to skansen and djurgarden
Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were in Stockholm and so it was difficult to really enjoy the old town and wander the streets.
The Palace however with the Royal Armoury was fantastic. The audio tour in the armoury was well worth the money. There is so much information given in an interesting way. Stockholm is very pretty and we would have taken a boat tour if it wasn't raining.
We used public transport which was convenient .. Enjoyed trips on the river around the islands? Hop on buses great.
Everyone helpful and friendly. Palace was beautiful and we really enjoyed strolling around old town. Especially the Nobel museum . Loved that Stockholm was so well appointed around the water and you appreciate the wonderful architecture where ever you look.
you need about two nights to see all the museum and boat tour. every place is worth seeing. full of history and traveler friendly city.
Stockholm is a very beautiful historic city with many sightseeing opportunities. Get the Stockholm Card before visiting.
That allows trips on public transportation and in to many museums.
Having a short holiday in Stockholm, old city with its old narrow streets and lots of boutiques is definitely a place to visit.
Government Buildings, Towers, city center streets, restaurants and Architectural Buildings is amazing.
This government building is the seat of Stockholm city government, home to a luxury restaurant and the site of the banquet after the Nobel Prize ceremony. The organ in the Blue Hall has 10,270 pipes and is the largest in Scandinavia
Skansen museum is a must visit. Very unique place about the history and traditions about the Swedish culture.
Drottningholm palace is also beautiful. Spend a day strolling the grounds.
Stockholm is a great place for sightseeing (depends on which part of the year you go). Personally, I went during late autumn/early winter.
Not sure which is which. Majority of the main attractions in Stockholm are worth visiting (i.e. Skansen, Vasa Musuem, Gamla Stan etc). If you want to visit museums, you may want to consider doing so on weekends since their opening hours are usually longer. If you prefer shopping, then you can just alight at the T-Centralen station and you can find quite a number of places to shop nearby. However, the cost are generally not cheap but the quality of most stuffs (i.e. clothes, shoes etc) are not bad. Really depends on what you're looking for. Do bring an umbrella with you when you go out, as the weather changes quite rapidly. People in Stockholm are generally friendly and approachable.
come on summer if no can be very cold the people are extremly nice and like to help tourist lot of things to do dont miss the old city
You must be prepared to spend at least half a day at Skansen Museum as there were many things to see and experience.
I liked the effort that they made to let the tourists understand the culture and the lifestyle back in the old days. For example, how soap was made to wash clothes and the type of paint they made to paint the wooden houses. Strongly recommend to get the stockholm card to get free entrance to many places and transport is free too. Do not miss going to Vasa museum as you got to see the ship up close. It was amazing.
In Stockholm, it has all those historical sites to be visited, like the Vasa Museum, the Royal Palace, City Hall, Gamla Stan(the old town), but it also offers a really good choice for shopping lovers, places near to the Central Station, Slussen, Kungstragarden are all good places for both shopping and sightseeing.
The art at the Stockholm Metro also worth to see, especially the art work on the blue line.
You have to visit the old town, see the changing of guards at 12:15. The ticket for the royal palace is valid fot one week, so you can take your time.

Stockholm is great city to visit since it has very beautiful scenery spread out in the city. Its combination of great old building, sea, and great modern infrastructure of transportation may give tourist a lot of good experience and comfort to stay.
This was better than I expected, and we felt safe no matter what time of the night or day we were out.
Stockholm has more freaks than San Francisco, but it's a choice and not a problem, just a bit of a surprise. Plenty of English is spoken. And again get a "Stockholm Card" we got one for three days and it made museum hopping and transit etc...really simple.
Good public transport. The fares are more expensive than London. Stockholm card is not good value if you do not go to the museums which are expensive.
Very clean city with lots of river, lakes and canals for boating, kayaking. City Hall is a must to visit, imagine yourself among the Nobel prize winners.
Very exciting city - cosmopolitan and lots to do yet relaxed and peaceful. The only downside for a tourist is the costs! Expect to pay at least £15-20 for a main course and £15-20 for a glass of wine.
However, for a weekend trip it is manageable and wealth worth it.
Canal tour is a must. Excellent shopping all around the hotel, but Gamla Stan has the best art galleries.
Highly recommend PUB (esp the home department on top floors)and Ostermalm. MOOD Stockholm is overrated and only appeal to teenagers.
No need to prepare pretty cash, accept credit card anywhere, take boat trip for quick look here, islands with country parks round the city, must travel within jun-jul & travel with copenhagen, a big contrast between city & country park with half hour journey.
Lots to do and see here in Stockholm. Anything from the ABBA museum to some of the best galleries and museums I have ever been to.
Great fun city and loved the old town part.
Best city I've seen in my life Very impressed with the beauty of this wonderful city, 2 days were not enough to see all the big things this city has to offer.
I'm planning another trip to stockholm in the near future.
Overall impression is that this is a very expensive city for tourists! Vegetarian food is not easy to find!
Beautiful city with many sightseeing. It is very modern place and has beautiful history at the same time.
People are relaxed and it seems like they are not working but are on holiday all the time :) . The city which is very friendly to nature.
With its 750 year history and rich cultural life, Stockholm offers a wide selection of world-class museums and attractions.
Most of the city's attractions can be reached on foot, and there’s a good chance of experiencing a lot of things in a short time. Experience big-city life, the history of civilization and natural scenery, all in the course of the same day.
