Cannot recommend this venue”
Unfinished and poorly maintained this property may suit guests seeking a more private location however with a large wall at the rear and building works on other sides it lacks any ambience or character. Broken verandah door, dirty bedding and malfunctioning air conditioner added to the negatives. It’s a bed for the night and nothing more. Give breakfast a miss and head to a local cafe if you enjoy your food.

Simple place. Clean rooms. Nice bathroom. Construction around but not overly intrusive. ”
Pool is useless and the location isn’t ideal. Otherwise nice place.

AHMAZING ”
This is a gorgeous property. The rooms are perfect, the bed is the most comfortable I have slept in since the start of our travels. Breakfast is so good. The fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juices are delicious. Between 730 and 8 AM the monkeys come along to play on the balconies and in front of your room. It truly is the most amazing way to wake up in the morning. The staff here go out of their way and are extremely kind, friendly and accomodating. I give this place 6 stars. Also a little too- When you walk out of the driveway, turn left and then left again when the road ends. The pathway will take you right to the entrance to The Sacred Monkey Forest as well as the start of the Sacred Monkey Street.

Nice and cozy hotel”
I stayed here for 3 nights. Room and equipment was nearly brand-new, clean. There were no mirror in the room(mirror just in bathroom) but it was juat acceptable. You can choose a breakfast among three kinds of menu. For me, french toast was the best. Host and staff were very kind and provided good services. It is located near monkey forest so can get there by foot. Great place to stay in Ubud!!!!!!!!!!!

Clean, nice place for the cost (CONSTRUCTION!)”
Family-run, located near Monkey Forest by walking or moped (not car), I enjoyed my stay at Umala. The good: It was clean, family-run with about 12 rooms (so not a homestay). They cleaned my room daily and replaced towels; air conditioning was strong, and the bed was comfortable. Water pressure was solid. Good value for the price and (minus the construction) a pretty peaceful, out of the way location. Breakfast was also good, with plentiful options. The annoying: Breakfast starts at 8:00 which is not bad until you realize most tours pick you up between 7:30 to 8 (and no, you can't get your breakfast early). For the 5 mornings I was there, I was only able to eat there once. If they could shift their breakfast time to be 30 minutes early or an hour earlier, it would be much better. Because its run by a family, there are often times where the "front desk" is not manned, so if you need assistance booking a tour, getting laundry done, etc you have to either lurk in the lobby or make a lot of noise until someone comes out. Also, its location at the "end" of Bisma road means it takes significant time for a car to access the road - its much easier to walk or to take a motorbike. Just something to be aware of depending on your group size and your like of walking. The ugly: Be aware, that a new building is under construction (and will remain so easily until the end of 2017), so sleeping in is not really going to happen.
