Amsterdam hotels & places to stay

The hostel has incredibly steep stairs, as it is a historic Amsterdam building, but worth considering if you're not physically fit or have vertigo with heights. There's an in hostel smoke room, a microwave, fridge, and the showers are solo locking facilities. They have an adorable cat name Mattya, who is the best, but worth knowing if you have allergies, although she is out a lot of the day and does not go into the dorms.

This is probably the third or fourth time I'm staying here, and it always met the expectations. The hostel is a bit far away from the typical Amsterdam action, and besides the vending machines, there wouldn't be any restaurants nearby post 10PM or so. This place is huge with plenty of socialising spaces, there is also a couple games at the ground floor. Breakfast is nice and plentiful. The "kitchen", which barely counts as one, is pretty small that fits only one person. There is a fridge and a microwave, but no cutlery (you'd need to buy single use plastic ones unless you got them yourself). This strikes me a bit odd because other hostels have and encourage to use the kitchen. This is not a party hostel and I am noticing an increasing number of families with young children (not that I'm against it). I'm saying this because you can expect the vibe you'd have in this otherwise party-ish baked city full of adult life.

The hotel is 10-15 minutes walk from the central train station but is about 3-5 minutes walk from waterlooplein metro station. It is also close to the supermarkets or some sightseeing locations. The staffs at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The kitchen has all the things you need but the stove is a bit old. There are different activities the hotel host to let travelers to understand Amsterdam more. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone.

Since there are many attractions in Amsterdam, you would be spending most of your time within the city center itself. All you would need is a bed to sleep in and a washroom to clean yourself and this is what Princess Hostel has. The space is rather small and can be claustrophobic, but like I mentioned earlier, you wouldn't be spending too much time in the hostel. The hostel is very affordable to a backpacker.

I really liked this place. The staff were kind and attentive, the facilities seemed well maintained, the rooms themselves seemed decent, and it l’s right next to a central train station + an arena with loads of shops, restaurants, and an imax theatre right there. Couldn’t get much better. My complaints are minor, but still noteworthy to me. First is the part they control the least, their location + walkability. This is more of a business or corporate park kind of setting than it is the city or even a suburb. I wanted to go into central Amsterdam the first night, but was warned the trains would shut down if I stayed too late, and I’d have to take a bus. Walking was pretty much out of the question, as it’s 9.5 km from centraal station. Next is no fridge. Apparently this is a thing in Europe? Everywhere else I’ve been such as North America, Latin America, and Asia has had them. I had a third point, but can’t remember it. Eh. Must not’ve been important. Anyway, I recommend.

To be perfectly honest, due to the price, location and the fact that it was a hostel, I wasn't expecting a great deal from The ClinkNOORD. We've visited Amsterdam over 20 times and have stayed in some high end hotels as well as some complete dives, however this was our first time staying in a hostel. I've passed by some of the hostels in the RLD and they are far from welcoming, so I assumed that the ClinkNOORD would be more or less the same...I was wrong!!! The ClinkNOORD may look like an old industrial unit from the outside, but once inside you are met with an extremely clean, brightly lit and friendly reception area, and branching off from that some chill out/study areas, a bar and kitchen. Our stay here was fantastic, the only thing I can fault is the thin long flat pillows, which even doubled up and placed between your arm and head are not sufficient. Bring your own pillow or prop it up with some clothes under it. We didn't eat at the ClinkNOORD so couldn't review the Food/Dining section (hence 3 stars). Would we stay here again? Definitely YES. The ClinkNOORD will be our first choice in the future and will remain so if they maintain the current standard and pricing structure.

Stayed at Stayokay Vondelpark 11th-14th September for my fiancé birthday. We stayed in block B, a private room for two and we were very impressed. The beds (although single!) were incredibly comfortable, the room was lovely and clean and the staff were amazing ! They even arranged for a special surprise for my Fiancés birthday on the Monday, putting a birthday card, a magnet and two vouchers for free drinks in our rooms. Couldn't of asked for more! Absolute perfect location, easy to find and just the perfect distance from everything. olaced within the park itself, it was the best "base" we could of asked for. Only a 5-10minute walk from a selection of great restaurants and shops. Would recommend visiting Rookie Cookies Coffee shop, not even 10mins away. Brilliant ! Can't wait to stay again, thank you to all the staff, especially Cecile, for making our stay so brilliant.

I was lucky to get room 15 because that's on ground floor. Pros: - Affordable - Strong wifi - Good location (less than 1 min walk from the tram station and near some cafes) - Staff give some good information Cons: - Toilet & guest ratio is very high. Only 2 showers and 2 toilets for 20+ guests in one room. However, I never had to wait in line for some reason even though the room was almost fully occupied. - Toilet is super small. When I shut the door, it almost hit my nose. - I wish the shower had some hook stuck to the door to hang my towel & clothes. Once, a man had to come out naked from his shower so I shut my eyes (I was brushing my teeth) until he finished. - Although I can tell that the staff cleans daily, the guests don't care about hygiene at all. Sometimes the toilet was splashed with yellow liquids and tissues all over the floor or people don't flush! So I wish the staff could take care of these little details instead of just following their cleaning routine.

This hostel is the bomb. Scenic view inside garden. We booked a private quad room to ourselves. Tips : 1. Upon arrival need to pay extra fees for every traveller 2. If you want to go to Primark area, take Tram no 9 from “1e Van Swindenstraat” to “Dam” 3. How to go to Tram. From hostel entrance (entrance of the hostel is at your back, turn left and straight appx 300mtr to Tram stop) 4. Uber is available for pickup from hostel to airport. Normal car 20-30eur, Van 50-60eur one way. Around 30minutes 5. Need to take their hot chocolate with whipped cream 6. It’s quiet and peaceful then the hotels in Amsterdam mane center I recermend for families, not for those that want to party all night long

My family and I stayed at this hotel in Amsterdam. The location was great and was near everything. No need to take a taxi from the airport as the train station...Central Amsterdam...is within walking distance. Lots of cafes, restaurants and stores within walking distance also. Patrons of the hotel get the included breakfast right next door at Molly Malone's which reopens later on and is a great place for drinks. The hotel was clean and you always see a staff member sweeping, dusting or doing general cleaning.

Tram is just outside the hotel for 1 min walk Square for leisure and food is just 3 min walks away. Staff is helpful

I stayed in a tiny, single room. It was fine for what I needed. I check every place I stay for Bed Bug’s but didn’t see any signs. It was freezing outside and I was concerned there was no heat, but a man at the front desk verified that every room has heat. I found the tiny heater hidden behind the curtain below the window. Once I turned it up it was fine place. The doors aren’t sound proof so you hear every slamming door and conversation that passes by. I asked for an extra pillow, which the front desk received for me, though I had to wait 15-20 minutes for them to get it. If I ever go back to Amsterdam and I’m traveling solo again I’d stay here again, mainly for the price and location. I also LOVE Amsterdam which helps.

We spent 4 days in Amsterdam. The Hotel is located in a great position. From the airport you can take the bus 397 which stops in Leidseplein (5 mins walking from the Hotel). 5 mins from the Hotel there is the Museums'area (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, etc..). In the evening the area is full of life, but not too busy, with plenty of nice restaurants and pubs, and if you research you can find even no touristic places. To get to central station, it takes 25 mins and it is a very nice walk. You can choose if have the breakfast at the hotel, we highly recommend this choice, it was rich and yummy.

My first hostel experience and I will definitely be staying again. Loved the breakfast, although arrive early if you want to sit down! Pizzas from the bar were delicious. Drinks were cheap, and smoking room and pool table was a good place to chill.

We booked a twin room and all of the rooms advertised on the website were nice, bright and airy. What we had instead was a basement room with only a little ceiling very high up on the wall within a grey/beige room which made it feel very small and dark. Additionally we found that they weren't very forth coming with the tea/coffee and replacement of clean cups - they would frequently remove dirty cups but not replace them. Additionally there seemed to be no extractor fan in the bathroom so that if you had a shower both the bathroom and bedroom became filled up with steam! Personally we found the beds very hard along with the pillows though I did find the duvets very comfortable and warming for February though I doubt they'd be as welcome in the summer! On the positive aspect the hotel was in a good location with only a five minute walk to take you to the main shopping streets and the Aircon/heating system in the room worked very well.

Probably one of the best hostels I've stayed at. You need to have a key card to get in so I always felt very safe. You walk straight into the bar so you feel welcome from the get go. All of the staff were amazing and super friendly. A lot of them hung around after their shifts so it was easy to sit down and have a drink with them. Excellent kitchen facilities. Loads of communal areas where you could meet people. I stayed in an 18 bed dorm but there was plenty of space. They have activities on every night so there was always something to do and someway to meet people. Best thing was the smoking room. So good to be able to have a smoke, meet people and then crash when you were done! When I come back to Amsterdam I'll be staying here again!

Hotel is in a good location everything is nearby,but my problem was as usual with Agoda everytime I booked with this poor company I had problem in my travel, once happen in dubai the hotel was not registered in Agoda after my booking and the last one in Amsterdam I booked a single room but on arrival I surprised that I'm in shared room! Noting that I called Agoda agent before arrival & he told me that I'm in a single room! anyway these experiences taught me that do not deal ever with Agoda because they are not being honest with customers.

Golden Mansion Apts is located in a quiet area with easy access to public transport. Most of the staff we met were very helpful and responsive. The stairs are super narrow so good luck if you have large suitcases to lug (we had two :( ). The kitchenette was under equipped - besides cutlery and crockery, there were only a couple of huge cooking vessels. On request, a frypan was provided. How about a few more basics - a kitchen scissor, small knife, a few more spoons...? The hairdryer didn't work and the guy on duty did not replace it as promised. After waiting for 1.5 days, we asked again and the girl manning the desk promptly sent us one. Toiletries provided are minimal - handwash and body wash only - so take your own if you want to stay here. Everything else fine - clean linen, comfy beds, good housekeeping, mostly helpful staff, and a super quick check out.

We stayed in the executive room, which was lovely. It's actually even nicer in person. There were plenty of places to keep your things organized, and the staff was so helpful and polite if we needed anything at any time. Also, the bathroom is so luxurious! The location of this hotel is probably the best part. It's no more than 30 min walking to any major parts of Amsterdam -- and 5 to 10 minutes walking from most places -- and luxury brand shopping is the next street over. Even though you are so close to everything, is still very quiet and residential, so it feels very authentic. My friend and I didn't enjoy the breakfast as much, but the option is there if you are in a rush. Still, there are so many places to go to as soon as you turn the corner. It's a great gem of a hotel and I look forward to staying there again the next time I'm in Amsterdam!

The location of this hotel is brilliant. We caught the 197 bus from airport (€5 each) to the Rijksmuseum stop which is 2 min walk to the hotel. Bus tells you which stop next so couldn't be easier! The hotel is right next to Vondelpark, where we found an amazing restaurant set in the park. Walking distance from hotel to all the major attractions and sights of Amsterdam. Plenty of bars and restaurants (inc Hard Rock Cafe) literally 5 mins walk. The hotel rooms are small and basic, the bathrooms are small, modern and clean and have all you need inc hairdryer. But if your planning on making most of city you won't be in your room other than to sleep and freshen up - in which case this hotel is perfect.

The only con of the hotel is the location, it's not in the centre of Amsterdam so to get there from the airport you have to get the train to the central and then the m53 to the hotel. However the public transport is amazing so we never waited more than 5 minutes for our trains or trams.

The hotel is absolutely lovely, it is quite far from the centre so you do need to walk to the tram stop which is about a five minute walk, to get onto the number 1 which takes about 30 minutes. The hotel is in a quite peaceful location, the decor is wonderful. The staff were really friendly and polite. The room we stayed in was cleaned perfectly, and we had no issues during our stay there! We are already planning on coming back to Amsterdam and staying in this hotel again :)

Hotel is clean. Offered complimentary fruits and cofffee. Hotel is part Pt the many historical buildings in Amsterdam so don't expect any air conditioning but it was not issue for us, room was well ventilated and they provided a small fan. Room was too adequate for 4 people. Bathroom was clean and also a generous size. Hotel is centrally located, and less than 15 mins walk to Amsterdam central station. Amsterdam is a walkable city so you won't go wrong booking this place. Will stay here again for sure.

This hostel was great! Had electronic locker system where you pick the pin code so I felt my luggage was incredibly safe. Awesome facilities, right around the corner from everything and even did a free continental breakfast which was good. The only slight downside was the room we were staying in hadn't been cleaned properly so there were remnants of other people and an old sock on the floor! The radiators were also on (in 26 degrees which we couldn't do anything about) so our room was very warm and stuffy. Other than that the bathroom and shower was lovely and we also had a balcony to smoke on. Would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone staying in Amsterdam

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food at the hotel was excellent, my friend who I travelled with is gluten free which can sometimes be difficult. However this was noto a problem here, the staff were very knowledgeable and she had a good choice of meals instead of just salads which she is usually offered! The hotel was situated very close to the Amstel station and getting from the airport was easy and much cheaper than a taxi. Although on the outskirts of the old town it was an easy and very picturesque walk along the canals, which took us about 25 minutes to reach the centre. Amsterdam is a clean and interesting city. We felt completely safe, even walking back to our hotel late at night. If you want to visit anything in particular while in Amsterdam I would definitely recommend booking your tickets before you go. We visited the Van Gogh Museum with timed tickets. The day we had arranged to go it poured with rain and the qeues were so long, we would not have stayed if we had had to wait as it was taking over 2 hours to get through. The museum itself was really worth a visit and good value for money. Amsterdam is a lovely city, the people are very friendly thre is something for everyone a place I would certainly visit again.

The location of the hotel played a big role in us having an amazing long weekend in Amsterdam. conveniently located right next door to a major train and metro station, shops including restaurants, cinema, supermarket, etc. The rooms were a good size even though small in nature and provides everything you need for your weekend on the move. Even an option to store your luggage for the day for €4 so you can easily stop at the hotel to collect them on the way to the airport. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Make sure to purchase a regional travel ticket or day ticket for your travels around as the public transport could not be more efficient and organised. Google maps is your friend.

We loved our stay at De Hallen. The rooms are very well designed. The bed was large and comfortable; the bath was long and deep: the shower was capacious, and the storage well thought out. De Food Hallen next door is great and offers a variety of choices. It’s food truck food, not restaurant food. But good quality and at a good price. You’ll enjoy your stay at De Hallen. It’s a funky place and well sited close to restaurants and bars and close enough to the city by tram. We’ll be back - at the right price. Amsterdam hotel prices are pretty ridiculous unless you snare a bargain.

It is within walking distance (15-20min) from Amsterdam Centraal Station. At the corner of the canal, in front of Nemo Museum. Roy and Geoffrey were exceptionally nice! They gave me map and explained the surrounding area. And when the heater in my cabin was not working, they don't mind to come and fix it though it was quite late. The breakfast was OMG, amazing. Pancake, cereal, cheese, nougat, bread, milk, etc is available. Plus, the hosts have great taste in music. You can have breakfast accompanied by many great tunes for a great morning. The end of the pier (or the upper deck) is a great place to watch the sun set. I don't mind recommending Vita Nova to whoever visiting Amsterdam. A gem!

Nice and modern, clean room with everything you need in a high quality hotel. The location is great, not so close to the city center but connected to tram and at least 2 supermarkets beside. The rain shower was the best I ever try. The room view face to boats port is superb. Comfy bed and chair. Good wifi. The price is rather high but it was really reasonable.
