Conrad Cairo
Downtown,Cairo - View on map
"I spent a weekend in Cairo and wanted a bit of comfort. The Conrad has all the luxury of a five star hotel if location is not a priority. It is about 10 blocks from the Egypt Museum and the centre of town. The hotel is right next to the Nile and the "Nile view" from your room is spectacular. But you would have to take a taxi to any of the major tourist sites in Cairo. The neighbourhood where the hotel is a bit run down, so it would be difficult for a tourist to wander about. The hotel itself is super luxurious and the food was out of this world. They have an excellent Lebanese restaurant as well as a Chinese restaurant within the hotel. The buffet breakfast was super and the staff were always helpful. The Sauna and Massage area was very clean and well organised. In conclusion, everything was wonderful except for the location. If that is important, than the Ritz Carlton may be your only choice but that will be double the price. Conrad Hotel is highly recommended."

InterContinental Cairo Semiramis
Downtown,Cairo - View on map
"This hotel is located right in the center of Cairo. Forget the news reports: It was very safe to be right next to Tahrir Square as of December 2013, and frankly, as someone who has been to Cairo many times, this was the most quiet I've ever seen the city. Now is the time to visit. There was literally no sign of political unrest while I was there. About the hotel: It is a great 4-star hotel with particularly good restaurants and a very well-equipped (but slightly dated) gym. The hotel also has a very clean hot tub, dry and wet saunas and massage. Everything was immaculate, and the service was attentive. I was upgrades to a club level room. I've stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, and it is better today than it was then. Both the renovations to the lobby area and the staff have made this hotel a fantastic experience. Highly recommended, particularly for the current price......"

Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski Cairo
New Cairo,Cairo - View on map
"The hotel is a star in the sky , it is very nice , build as a luxury castle & very unique building. The staff are very concerned about what you need . The swimming pool is very nice. The spa is excellent service & atmosphere.just few minutes walk is a shopping mall called Porto Cairo mall & few minutes drive are the two largest mall in new Cairo ( downtown mall & Cairo city festival mall) . The airport is only 20 minutes drive . The only disadvantage is the housekeeping service which lack attention to the details. The food is really nice with a variety of restaurants to choose from. "

Traveler impressions of Cairo

More about Cairo

Cairo was founded more than a millennium ago, a figure that might impress tourists if it weren't for the unfathomably ancient icons looming to the west. Gateway to the Pyramids of Giza and one of the most ancient kingdoms on earth, Cairo offers a mix of historic sightseeing and modern luxury, all within reach of the Bedouin heartland, famous for tireless hospitality and vibrant traditions.

When they're not pondering the ruins at Giza, tourists are most likely to be found in Downtown Cairo. Cairo accommodation in this area ranges from bargain guesthouses to trend-setting luxury hotels, and guests staying in the city enjoy excellent museums, lively marketplaces, and good metro service. The adjoining Garden City is the region's most exclusive commercial district.

Strolling through the heart of the city is as much about marveling at Cairo's modern advances as it is about delving into its eclectic culture. Throughout history, Cairo has been occupied by the Romans, the Turks, the French, and the British, among others. These vastly different cultures have each left their own legacy, and Cairo's museums and architecture are richer for it.

Across the Nile from Cairo are Mohandeseen and Dokki, upscale districts that lure tourists with excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment. This is also where to find some of the most convenient hotels in Cairo, with access to both the city center and the Pyramids of Giza. Cairo International Airport serves as the gateway to this ancient city of wonder.
