Canberra hotels & places to stay

I came to Canberra in the N.S.W school holidays with my two children. I wanted to bring them Canberra for a few days to visit Questacon, Parliament House and the Zoo. I needed affordable accommodation with a kitchen in it because it was cold at night and I didn't want to be dragging the kids all over Canberra looking for places to eat. The accommodation was affordable (excellent price) and the room was clean and recently refurbished. Excellent kitchen facilities. Really close to all major attractions and short walk to Manuka town centre. A great place to stay. Highly recommend.

Our stay was to view the Renaissance exhibition at the NGA in Canberra, Australia. The staff were helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel's structure allows a reduction in noise which is always welcome when travel and sleep in beds other than your own are necessary. The bed was to our liking, with pillows a little softer. Buffet breakfast was ample with a good selection of fruit , yoghurt and muesli. Barrister and coffee could do with a refresher course, other wise all was good and fresh. Concierge and front desk staff were wonderful. Taxis were there when called.

I like Abode Woden as the rooms are comfortable and provide a few extra facilities to a standard hotel room. Also I drove to Canberra, so having a car park directly across the road was a huge benefit. This was my second stay at Abode Woden and I will stay there again if I need to return to Canberra.

Amazing style but not just for looks; it works and is very comfortable which is the whole point right? Such a friendly vibe too which is important in places which might otherwise seem too cool for school. Staff were brilliant. Aesop amenities topped it off. Like all hotels in Canberra it’s not cheap. Still worth it - can’t fault a thing. I read some reviews complaining about noise in the sun rooms on the highway (where I stayed). Really? You can make out some whooshes of the traffic but no louder than rustling of trees. Do these people live in a hermetic underground vault? Such a non-issue.

I very much appreciated my stay at the Statesmen as I was in Canberra to be with my daughter who was having surgery at the hospital just down the road. The hotel is almost attached to a small set of shops that has everything that is needed in regards to basic needs. :) The Coles supermarket and the coffee shops were very useful. The hotel was very comfortable and quiet - this was surprising as I was close to the road, but couldn't hear a thing. I loved the shower - wide shower head with strong pressure. Although out a bit from Canberra centre, nothing is far away in Canberra, so it only took about 10 minutes to get into town. If I had to do the same thing again, I would definitely choose to stay at the Statesmen.

This was a really lovely hotel, we recently stayed at a 5 star rated hotel in Canberra and it was no where near as lovely as the QT. The QT has fantastic facilities, really unique decorations and the bed was so comfortable. Lovely staff gave us late check out We will definitely stay here again. I loved it. Only one thing I would change and that would be total bock out curtains so we could have had a longer lie in without the sun gleaming in.

Arriving in the morning we were greeted with a smile and felt welcomed. Easy check in, easy taking care of storing our luggage. When we returned early in the afternoon, a coffee made the wait for the room to be finished shorter - need to mention WE were earlier then check in time, so this was a nice touch after they rushed to catch up after a busy weekend. Great staff. Our apartment on the 14th floor had a big balcony and the best view ever : Lake and all the important buildings spread out ! Brekkie looking at the Parliament House is a wonderful experience. Room and Bathroom was super clean, bed comfy, all conveniences in the kitchen. Foyer is quirky, concrete mixed with comfy retro furniture, a gas fire and a well stocked bar. Location is great. Very recommendable; we will stay there again next time in Canberra ! The hotel has been beautifully refurbished with an eye for detail. I travelled with my husband and two young children (2 & 4 yo). We were made to feel very welcome. The rooms were beautifully warm, in contrast to the Canberra winter outside. Children (under 12) eat free at breakfast, which was a nice surprise. The only down side was that, far from being neutral, the toiletries had quite the masculine scent to them.

Was amazing value for money. Got a great deal through Agoda and have recommended it to a colleague who travels to Canberra monthly to stay there as it is great value. Rooms were nice, my missus is hard to please and she'd stay there again... That's saying something. Only thing letting it down is perhaps the food, In room dinning was like we ordered takeout at best. A little more effort with the Food is required, however it was quick though I'll give it that. Free parking is a nice feature I can't stand paying an additional $20 for parking Aria has you covered here. A lot of cable channels compared to other hotels only half of them were watchable though due to distorted/pixlated pictures kind of like having a set of rabbit ears for your TV reception. But really only a minor fault easily fixed and would be the only thing from me rating this a 10 out of 10 experience.

Very well located, within walking distance of the food hub of Braddon, and also walking distance to Canberra Centre - the two places that seem to be the life of Canberra. A fair bit of variety for food in Braddon - from fast food like McDonalds and Pita Pit, to food trucks, to micro breweries, fancy burger joints etc. The apartment itself was also comfortable and well finished. The only issue we had was that we were right over the roller doors to the garage (which are $10/night to park in for guests), so after hours it was a little noisy whenever people were arriving or leaving as the roller doors opened and closed. Try to ask for a room that isn't directly over the doors (our room was 107).

me and my husband checked in at mantra on northbourne hotel in canberra,australia. the reason for our trip is to visit our daughter who is currently studying at anu in canberra. we were very happy with the 1 bedroom apt that we had. the room is nice and clean. the hall is big with a nice dining table and sitting areas. the kitchen is well equip with all the necessary cooking utensil. the hotel is about 10 mins walk to the biggest mall at canberra city and also within walking distance to the canberra casino. overall, it was value for money.

Best hotel in Canberra. Best location. Staff are so friendly and very lovely. Rooms were bigger than I thought. Been to Canberra so many times but don't know why I didn't stay here earlier. Staff so helpful and always greeting guests. I will come here again. Definitely recommend to family and friends.

We needed to stay in Canberra on our way back from a snow trip. We were tired and needed a quick meal and rest. We booked into the motel rooms and they were really clean and well appointed. The best part of the place was the excellent restaurant onsite with a great selection of food (all of it nice). We could get a good meal without going too far. Set in amongst bushland, not far from the city, it was really quiet and easy to sleep soundly. I'd definitely book here again.

Very satisfied with the hotel! We booked Double Studio and stayed for 1 night. We had 2 queen beds. Hotel is very new and is not on GPS yet. GPS led us to Best Western, which is just right beside Abode. Parking was plentiful within hotel compound. Check-in was a breeze and we were located at level 1. They have a porter trolley where guests can use for ease of transport of luggage to own room. Wifi signal is strong throughout. Room is Immaculately clean! Full laundry facilities and nice toiletries too. There is full kitchenette and even a coffee capsule machine. Room is as per picture with a dining table and tv. Bed is super comfortable like those 5 star hotel and fluffy pillows. Super value for money and i would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely book this hotel again if i visit Canberra again.

It was great, I was searching for a hotel in Canberra, frustrated at the prices most were charging, saw Capital tower reviews and noticed how they were 2 bedroom apartments that were in most cases cheaper than single motel style rooms at hotels in Canberra. I decided to go for this, great price, I knew the location was good, and even a city side view would be nice. On arrival, the nice staff had upgraded us already to a 3 bedroom apartment, it was a great and nicely appreciated gesture. I thanked her and said the 2 of us will have a great time in a 3 bedroom apartment so she went further, upgraded back to a 2 bedroom apartment but with a lake, mountain and parliament house view, she said we would love it and we truly did. Will definitely make a point of staying there again. The rooms are really great, full kitchens, and great for a family of 4 if needed, 2 bathrooms, dinning room, lounge room, shops where you can get food and supplies right across the road, easy walk into the shops in Canberra city.

The hotel was located in a great location in a quiet area only a short drive from the centre of Canberra. We booked two rooms one for myself,husband and two boys and another for my elderly Mum.Mum was booked into a room in a separate building to us so we asked if it would be possible to get her a room closer to us-we were very impressed by the reception staff member who assisted us(sorry dont know his name) young slim blonde hair guy -he was awesome and he went out of his way to help us find a more suitable room for Mum. Only negative was that the queue for breakfast was huge meaning a lengthy wait for a table-we ended up going to MacDonalds for breakfast the second morning!The staff did seem a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of guests!to be fair we visited on a long weekend so maybe the hotel needs to put on a few extra staff at peak times? Having said that the rooms were great beds v comfy.We would stay at the hotel again and would recommend the hotel to friends.

Firstly I want to thank you for your terrific service recently when I managed to change dates a couple of times on a visit to Canberra. You handled it easily and that was so re-assuring. Secondly I wanted to review the Burbury Hotel in Canberra because we had a very pleasant stay in a location that is hard to beat. The Burbury is new and sparklingly clean. Design is ultra cool; corridors with black walls lined with recessed lighting and deep carpet underfoot. We were very impressed with the comfort of the bedding and gorgeous pillows in a room of grey black and white. Sliding shuttered window coverings showed real design flair, which translated into a variety of lighting options. Grey marble & stainless bathroom were immaculate, although I would have liked a bath to soak in after all the walking. The spa/exercise and pool area is across the road at the adjoining hotel Realm as are the restaurants and this is not as convenient as I would have liked. However, the roof top breakfast balcony area opens up to a stunning scene so that we enjoyed both the extensive full buffet and great panoramic views all over Canberra. From north to Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie to the east & to the Brindabella Range to the south we could see so many National monuments . Dozens of hot air balloons took off in the early morning from the nearby Old Government House gardens. Being so close to the Art Gallery, National Library and National Portrait Gallery was a real bonus and the main reason we thought we might try this hotel. We were within walking distance - through tree-lined parks - to the major attractions of Canberra.

The hotel is located right across from the airport and a lazy ten-minute dring into the City center of Canberra with mount Ainslie along the way as you drive into Canberra. Few things when booking there is a fee for parking the car of $14 per day I was not informed this when I booked why the hotel or Agoda does not list this n the booking information also we booked a room that was meant to be breakfast included in the room? I spoke to the friendly staff on the desk and we got it sorted out but really don't like to have issues with bookings. Can not fault this hotel clean, comfortable, and friendly staff

My wife and I ran out of affordable hotel rooms within Canberra city centre for the Easter holiday so we have no choice but to look for alternatives at the city outskirts and finally booked at Abode Hotel Tuggeranong. Tuggeranong, one of the districts of ACT, is 20 Km further south of Canberra. Despite the distance though, it was a good choice, surprisingly. Firstly, Lake Tuggeranong is an amazing place and we really enjoyed our morning walk by the lake. The hotel room too was wonderful, clean, and spacious. It has the most fully equipped kitchenette of all the serviced apartments we have stayed. Pros: -Building is new and clean. -We booked a Studio Apartment and we still have our own bedroom, separate from the rest of the room. The kitchenette is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, dish dryer, microwave oven, oven, toaster, coffee maker, induction cooktop, big fridge, your own small dining table, etc., as well as washing machine, dryer, and free wifi for the room. Carpet is new and clean. Bedroom is a little bit small but we are not complaining since we booked a studio in the first place. -Room has its own spacious balcony -Parking was for free and there were lots of spaces available. -Hotel is just across the shopping centre which is very convenient. -Good service from the staff. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. -Close to Lake Tuggeranong, a good place for relaxation and recreation Cons: -Just a small one though. The shower has no door so when it is being used, water would spill over from the shower floor to the rest of the bathroom floor

'Santa' thought my husband would enjoy the Versailles exhibition, and to top it off, a weekend of indulgence at this lovely historic Canberra hotel. The concierge could not have been more accommodating with the delivery and collection of his hired bicycle. And while he rode up Mt Ainslie I visited the sauna and spa and then lingered over the delicious buffet breakfast. Thanks Santa

The hotel is located in a good location which is very close to O’Connor and Canberra City. The room was neat and clean and of an average size. There is a basic well equipped gym which we did not get to use. Easy access to shops down the road in O’Connor. Complimentary Wi-fi was available and all major channels as well as some Foxtel channels were there. Parking facility is available and is currently free of charge due to a bit of construction work going on - ask at reception for assistance on this. Dixie at reception, provided us with an adaptor that fitted an overseas built hair straightener which was very helpful indeed. Checkout was very quick thanks to Paula at reception who promptly emailed the tax invoice as well. All in all, a good stay and will be using this hotel when we travel to Canberra.

I was indeed surprised by the 10 star Service I received when I arrived at the Hotel. Did I mention 10 Star ? I don't think I have ever been treated like Royalty when arriving at any location worldwide. I was greeted by the porter who unpacked the car, and had organised things in the room by the time we arrived, including little welcoming luxuries. Carlos and his Staff on the front Desk were beyond comment, I cannot quiet describe the level of service, friendly and welcoming manner to which we were attended to. We also received an upgrade to the executive floor without even asking. During our short stay, Nothing was too much trouble and every request or question was answered and attended to immediately. My next visit to Canberra, I will definatly be staying at the Hotel Realm without question. Many Many thanks to Carlos and his Wonderful Staff... A vacation to remember

We had a great stay at the capital executive hotel.. Being the first time in Canberra the hotel was well positioned close to the city centre. The rooms are very comfortable and travelling with a little one it had everything we needed... Kitchen had all amenities which was a great surprise.. We didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant so can not comment there but great place to stay. The staff were lovely and after leaving our little ones favorite teddy in the room we were pleased to return and enquiry about it a few days later and it was reunited with our daughter..thank you!!

We were very impressed with the Nesuto in Canberra. We picked it off a website, selected for price and location and both were great. We were a 5 minute walk from Canberra central shopping and eating area. For the price the room was exceptional. It had a full kitchen with oven and dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. My wi-fi kept dropping out, but staff were supportive and helpful. Would recommend it highly.

The Crowne Plaza Canberra Hotel is an extremely well located and well managed serious hotel. There are staff for luggage and carparking. The restaurant had delicious food, even for gluten free vegetarians. The Casino is adjacent to the hotel and can be reached from the lobby of the hotel. The main central Canberra shopping district is just one block away. The car park under the hotel was not sufficient for the Saturday night when we were there but there is overflow carparking outdoors in front of the hotel. The rooms are quiet and well equipped for business. The beds were very comfortable. Late checkout at 11 am is very civilized. I would have no hesitation is recommending this hotel to anyone but it particularly suits the business traveller.

My stay was very very comforting. Unfortunately things didn't go right in Canberra for me, but it was reassuring to know I had a very nice room, with a spacious bed, large bathroom, two televisions, a nice living area, and very nice construction of the hotel with its seperate wings parting from (but still connected to) the main restraunt and reception building. The car park was emmauclate and I regret not bringing a car. Privacy was no issue and I had the freedom to do as I wished with regards to when I could leave the room, and the hotel in general. The only things I could complain about would be a lack of pool, a lack of more stories on the hotel (perhaps including a pool in one of the wings and putting rooms above it) and the cleanliness of the outside of the building itself. It needs maintaining more frequently. Regardless, I had a great time, if I return to Canberra, I will defenantly give the Premier some consideration. Thank you for having me.

hotel has a wow factor. Weekly traveller to Canberra and this hotel is the same level in quality to the 'for now' best hotel in Canberra. Plus it is cheaper, with living area and kitchen. Excellent. Needs a rewards system and you would have my business as preference.

Thanks to the great staff that made our stay as comfortable as possible. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen appeared well equipped (although we actually didn't end up cooking). The location was perfect for us as we were visiting relatives in the area. Will definitely return here for our next stay in Canberra :-)
