"I really loved the location, it changed my dbn visit for the first time in my life....... facilities was good.... I visited and called the hotel for an early check in which I was advised the hotel was fully booked, which is understandable. ...However the room was still not ready by 2:30..... What i did appreciate was being upgraded to executive room.... Another point to note....i also requested twin beds.....which was noted prior to my visit.....because my visit was so quick......and I had appointments ect.....i had no time to mention this....and my brother had to sleep on the couch........... Apart from that the room i was allocated was awesome in terms of comfort.....The staff was really helpful as well. time is very important if your booking for a day....and details requested(twin beds) I do come to gateway often which a group of people.....who often ask me for recommendations..... Many thanks."

"WHAT STOOD OUT FOR ME:- How non-intrusive your staff is. They actually leave you alone to be at home yet they are always on hand to promptly assist. I LOVE THAT. Very few hotels get that right. PROS:- Cleanliness, tea/coffee, comfy bed and a good quiet environment for night's rest-just awesome. I was also impressed that everything in my room actually works ie appliances, showers etc-best value for money really. CONS:- I was allocated #35 for the 6 nights I was there I had at least 3 encounters with cockroaches in the room mainly I felt they came from outside when I opened my window. Last year I was given #26 hardly any insects then and that was also an amazing stay. I had a great time. If you could just look into that roaches issue for rooms like #35 that could be super great. Overall I love the Durban Manor Hotel. 2018 was my first time I heard about it and tried it and I was hooked. Now on all my travels I judge other hotels against the standard of the Durban Manor. Thats good"

"The hotel is in a lovely location, and in a wonderful city, maybe it is because i have a certain bias towards Durban, but it is certainly my favourite city in South Africa. I have found the staff to be very friendly and always willing to help. Safe location next to all the restaurants and pubs (oh yes!). The room i had occupied is a very spacious, beautiful and above all quiet room. I enjoyed both my sleeping time and my waking time (wish they could provide a large bed instead of two quarter beds slumped together though), and i could sit and attend to my work in their study overlooking the beach. When i got bored i could sit around the balcony and have a bird's eye view of the lovely Durban, looking at the vast ocean stretching as far as the eye can see. What a wonderful world! For the price i paid, this is a grreat value for money, breakfast included, and this could not have been more fitting in this hard financial times we are facing. More of that please!"

"Gateway is the best shopping centre (many clothing shops etc)in South Africa and it is only 400 meters away. Five minutes in car to the beach and 15 minutes to downtown Durban. All in all very convinient if you have your own car and you do not mind that your not staying at the beach front. I woukld choose staying in Umhlanga anytime compared to staying in Durban"
