Angkhang Nature Resort
"We virtually had the whole place to ourselves because it was the low season (August). Very peaceful like a jungle lodge except with 5-star hotel rooms. The hotel also very kindly upgraded us to a garden-view room upon our arrival - how nice! We had a problem with the water supply in the bathroom - it constantly gave us buzzy, tingly little electric shocks. They sent the maintenance man over to check it and 15 minutes later we were transferred to another room. Very efficient.
The front desk staff (Ms. Som Jai to be more precise) was wonderful in advising us on what to do on Doi Angkhang, always in an advisory role. She also arranged the tour for us and also our transport back to the main Fang-Chiangmai road, even trying to book a minivan from there for us (unfortunately, they were fully-booked ... or so they said ...).
We also had an enjoyable time with our driver cum tour guide, Mr. Pong who also leads guests on mountain treks. Although he speaks only a smattering of English, we had fun gesticulating and playing charades! Pong is cheerful and enthusiastic.
If they can keep up their service level during the peak season, I'd say choose this place for a hassle-free stay if your funds permit!"Show more

Fang Modern Hotel
"The location was truly beautiful overlooking the lush rice fields set with the surrounding mountains on the backdrop. It’s a bit out of town but than again you do get a beautiful view and a quiet place in return. The WiFi could use some improvement but than again I think good accommodation outrules good WiFi. If you ever happen to pass Fang and you got time, I’d recommend to stay here."Show more

Kasarin Court
"so on arrival we were told that the hotel was full, which surprised us somewhat as we had pre-booked 2 rooms with agoda. however it became clear that there was a second hotel (kasarin 2) that had just been built around the corner in a much better location than the first (1 minute walk to tescolotus/kfc/mk)
we were taken around and although initially there were some issues (bed too hard etc) they resolved the problems there and then; and we arrived at about 23:00 so kudos to them for that.
thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the manager checking if we were ok every day.
rooms were basic but clean and had everything you would need for a short stay in fang. tea/coffee facilities were great, security was good and there was a nice big car park. also helpful for us was a pharmacy just downstairs because we got a little bit sick while we were there. no fault of the hotel though!
the only negative i would say is that we were up very early (0400) and at that time it's still very cold outside and the shower didn't seem to warm up at all. when we tried the shower later in the day (0800) it was fine. minor issue though - i would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in fang, if you have other places to be and want somewhere nice and clean to stay and somewhere to keep your valuables. one other bonus was the fast internet - i ran a speed test and it was around 10mbit, and it felt like it - very good with no connectivity issues at all!"Show more

Viengkaew Resort
"First up, we stayed at Viengkaew 2, not 1 which may be different. Its beautiful and fantastic value so get here before everyone else does. : )
Upon arriving in Fang, we called our hotel and the owners immediately came out and picked us up in their 4WD. They were really lovely and very welcoming. Nothing was too hard and we were welcomed into our bungalow with a large tray of fresh fruit including mangosteen, apples, grapes, longan etc - just delicious. Everything was immaculately clean with a super comfortable bed, plenty of power outlets and all the usual amenities afforded to 5 star hotels. Though the resort has no pool, the bungalows all looked new and very stylish like they were architecturally designed. Clean, modern and beautiful. Easily nicer than most of the 5 star hotels I stayed at in Bangkok. The resort itself is maybe 5 minutes stroll from convenience stores, restaurants and the main road so you have almost everything close by without the noise. The resort also features a lovely open plan restaurant which looks out into a tropical garden with peach face lovebirds in 2 large cages and in the distance a large hydroponic garden which I'm guessing is used to stock the kitchen.
I really loved this place. Its easy to see the owners have made every effort to make it as pleasurable as possible a place to stay. I just wish I could have stayed longer.
So in closing, if you visit Fang, I thoroughly recommend you avoid the boring hotels and head straight to Viengkaew Resort 2."Show more

Viengkaew Hotel
"I did book this hotel, but before I booked I tried to find the hotel on Google Maps. However, it showed Viengkaew Hotel and Resort. They are as different hotels (both owned by the same owner) as chalk and cheese- Thank god,
Hence I arrived at the Resort. Only to be directed 200 meters to the Hotel.
Old and rundown was the first impression. The room’s are very basic -as advertised – and in need of repainting. Air con is another 100 baht a night.
I wouldn’t recommend this Hotel to anyone, but would suit someone on a very low budget.
Luckily for me, I had found the small Resort first and hence relocated there straight away.
What a difference, nice clean bungalow modern style rooms great shower TV A/C Fridge all included, very clean and bright. The individual buildings/ rooms are set in a very pleasant garden environment. The price I paid included a great Breakfast/ Well worth the extra."Show more

"Nice room and very close to the night market. We had difficulty finding the hotel, and there is no map or obvious signs in English. It's at the end of an alley which is connected to the main road through town. Clean, but the sink did not drain and we arrived too late in the day to mention it to the management. It was quiet, but we did run the Aircon. The management does not speak English but they were able to troubleshoot our wifi connection. Mattress on the hard side. The price (we paid $30 inclusive) is too high for this accommodation."Show more

Traveler impressions of Fang
Fang is a typical Thai agricultural industry city, with little agricultural charm but friendly people.
Mathias, Germany
Lots of interesting Hill Tribe activities sponsored by the hotel. They can arrange informative tours of local hill tribe villages and are very active in providing support for the local hill tribes.
