Traveler impressions of Guiyang

More about Guiyang

The capital city of China’s Guizhou province, Guiyang is a great place in which to start an exploration of China’s ancient history and diverse culture. The city is very accessible by air or train, and there are also several buses from many neighboring cities and some long distance cities, so getting there should be very easy. Once in the city, rest assured that the right accommodation is just around the corner from the train station or the airport, with even more choices available in the city center and near some of the city’s most popular attractions.

Like many cities in China, Guiyang has its fair share of public parks, each offering their own attractions ranging from monkeys roaming around Qianling Park to unique dining and entertainment outlets that can be found at the river-side Hebin Park. Between these, and even more of the smaller public gardens and parks, outdoor entertainment is very easy to come by while visiting Guiyang.

For a bit more culture and history, head to the famous Hongfu Temple, which is about an hour’s walk from Hebin Park and features a history dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Of course, don’t miss a chance to sample some of the local teas and even the specialty Maotai liquor at one of the many restaurants and shops in the city.

There’s much more to see and do in Guiyang, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to explore where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
