Located right across a field of lush meadows is Vintage — a modern hotel with generous-sized rooms and all amenities required including 24x7 hot water, heating, kettle for making tea (yes they have green tea too), sleek bathroom fittings and decent views. Once again the staff was courteous and warm and ensured we had a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious enough to fit travellers with kids and are well lit. The contemporary decor is subtly blended with traditional accents — tastefully done. They have a fast-working central heating system (in the bathroom too). Food as many others have said is definitely the best in Gulmarg. A decent selection of breakfast with fruits, juices, continental and Indian spread. The cafe serves delicious soups, pizza and pasta and their Indian fare deserves a special mention, especially the navratan korma. I was surprised that across Kashmir bottles are moderately charged on the MRP (actual street prices not the inflated prices you see on airplanes).

Although we had a confirmed online booking the manager of the hotel was very rude at the desk. He refused to give us a room unless we paid cash. Only after my husband raised my voice he called up his head office and confirmed the booking, which could have done by himself without all the argument. Only after my husband raised my voice he called up his head office and confirmed the booking, which could have done by himself without all the argument. The room quality was not at all worth the price paid. No electric blankets were provided inspite of the hostile weather in Gulmarg. The bathroom wasnt washed properly, and the restaurant food was a disaster of floating oil. Gulmarg is the worst place to visit in Kashmir and we had the worst experience with the local facilities there. No local cabs to drive around, only the expensive stinky mules. The gondola was really a chaos with horse dung everywhere and bad roads. The gondola station was like a dilapidate godown. The restaurant was really tacky and dirty on the slopes. Gulmarg and Gondola should be avoided by families travelling with little kids, unless you want to get wet and frozen.

we were really looking forward to our stay at Alphine Ridge in Gulmarg. We booked this hotel through agoda.com for 2 night stay for 4 adults and 2 child. The first day we reached Gulmarg at 10 pm and were really tired as we started our journey from Pahalgam. We were in for a big shock; as the room they provided was standard room which was very small. The first day we reached Gulmarg at 10 pm and were really tired as we started our journey from Pahalgam. We were in for a big shock; as the room they provided was standard room which was very small. On top of that, the entire hotel (reception and where room was located) were smelling of diesel used for heater. When asked that we were promised deluxe double room; they mentioned this is the only room they have. We met few ther people staying at this hotel and when we discussed our issue with them, they showed us their room which was the actual deluxe double room. We were very upset; as the reception folks lied to us after us paying such a hefty amount. After arguing with them, they finally agreed to upgrade our rooms; but it happened only the next day. what had happened was they had over booked the previous day. Food was horrible as well. We thought we wuld have a good exp after room got upgraded; but it was not to be. towels provided had holes in it. no hot water. we were sincerely waiting for our stay to end in Gulmarg. At this price, this was not worth it at all.

We were not impressed with this hotel at all. It is very over priced for what it is. It is in need of renovations. It's dark and damp. We had no toilet paper in the room and even though we asked for some they never brought any (luckily we had brought some). The hotel staff are rude and not helpful at all. My first day at Gulmarg Meadows was great as the location was far from the hustle bustle of city and food was finger licking. Nights are cold and calm. My second day was very tiring because of gondola ride but as soon as I reached the tents my tiredness went off and I felt refreshing and cool because the weather is very pleasant and warm. The best is to explore the near by small hills for evening walk. The sun rises early at approx. 4.50 am and sets at 8.20 pm which also helps to explore the near by area. The tents are away from city and thus are very quite. Ideally the best location for relaxing and have a wholesome new and unique experience of tents with nearly all modern facilities like hot water, tea, mineral water, good & courteous staff, a humble manager and lip smacking spicy food etc.

Traveler impressions of Gulmarg
As stated in previous review, it is a beautiful place but the guides should learn to leave alone someone who does not need to be guided.
Have shared something about the guides in my other review of Gulmarg Hotel area. Do visit in winters, the snow completely changes the place what it is in summers.
Good snow mountain, good view, good for relaxation, good for skiing and winter sports, for family and children.
Gulmarg is a very beautiful place to relax with Himalayas all around you. But the bad thing is pony horses who have made this heaven a hell.
Difficult to breathe in town due to their smell and difficult to walk due to their being in hundreds on tiny roads. If ponies are removed from Gulmarg it will become heaven again.
Gulmarg is a great place to see but the Pony Unions have made a mess of this place. They are rude and do not allow you to go around in your own taxi - they force you to either take their ponies or youhave to walk.
This is a very difficult proposition if you have young children or older parents with you. If one can get rid of these Pony Unions and get battery operated vehicles then this place will continue to attract tourists else it will not be long before people stop going here.
