Only walked around a few blocks (they are big though) but it is a busy Metropolitan city. Driving in Korea I noticed that other drivers are really impatient.
You'll get honked at for stopping at a stop sign for "too long" or even while waiting for pedestrians crossing in the crosswalk. I do recommend to stay 2-3 days and just walk or drive around the city.
We loved this town, its a big city with small town feeling. All the people are very friendly and willing to help if needed.
Always felt safe walking around the city.Lots of sights to see, places to eat, and shopping.
This is a city only that caters for Korean speaking Visitors, the only reason you would go to this location Would be business related there is no social Outings for couples or families
Nice and quiet area. Was once part of the BaekJe Dynasty of Korea. Not nearly as busy as Seoul. Not alot of shopping or fusion places to stop by and have a drink or a bite to eat.
But I guess, you could say, if you are living in Korea, you gotta do it at least once.
Whether you want to look around Gwangju, shopping etc, or like me, use it as a base to visit other places, it is an ideal hub, with all the facilities you'd expect in a major city.
Easy and inexpensive to get around.
