Traveling to China? Find Hangzhou hotels

We stayed there a couple years ago and never had a second thought about paying another visit. You almost can’t beat this hotel’s location, just a 10-minute walk to West Lake and the busiest shopping district in Hangzhou. There’s a metro station there as well. As for the hotel, large, spacious and very clean rooms with a fresh fruit plate every day. Most basic amenities are provided and upgraded products are also available in the room for a fee. The shower has strong hot water (a refreshing change from most other hotels in China.) The breakfast buffet is huge but mostly local food and is on the top floor overlooking West Lake. Accommodation-wise, this 4-star hotel actually differs very little from many of the “5-star” hotels we’ve stayed at in China. Especially taking into account the price, what’s not to like! Unlike comments from other foreigners, service throughout is actually fine–if you can speak Chinese. You know what they say, “When in Rome...”

Me and my boyfriend visited Hangzhou during Easter break and stayed at Xihu State Guest House for 2 days. It was a pleasant stay - the hotel was converted from two mansion houses built in 1900s. The hotel itself is like a big garden, with trees, flowers, pavilions and even direct and exclusive access to West Lake. Room is clean and comfortable. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel serves first-rate authentic Hangzhou-style cuisine and the buffet-style breakfast offers a wide variety of Western and local Hangzhou choices. The hotel is located on the more quiet side of West Lake, so a stroll down Yanggongdi outside hotel is also highly recommended. The only drawback is the challenge to get a taxi in the West Lake area - so make full use of public transport if you can.

This is our first time ever to stay in a hotel under the Wyndham chain of hotels. I must say that I am truly impressed by the friendliness and attentiveness of the hotel staff at Wyndham Hangzhou. The moment we alighted at the lobby area, the bell boy promptly helped us with our luggages and ushered us to the check in counter. The check in process was prompt and the reception staff are all very friendly. While I was waiting for the check in documentations ready, one of the staff had welcomed me and introduced the hotel and nearby attractions to me. I felt very pleasant and I genuinely feel very welcomed to this hotel. This is quite different compared to the many other equivalent 5 star hotels that I had stayed before. The other hotels will usually just follow the steps, i.e. step 1: say hello, step 2: get your particulars: step 3: process your check in, step 4: tell you your room no and say goodbye. I am also pleasantly surprised to know that while I was checking in at the counter, the bell boy waited for me with our luggage and kept my wife and my son occupied by introducing them to Hangzhou, the facilities in the hotel and the nearby attractions. Throughout our stay, we were greeted by numerous friendly hotel staff and many of whom will be ever ready to assist us and introduce us to cafes nearby, scenic attractions around the west lake, etc. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and when we needed to loan a humidifier for our room, it was promptly arranged. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I think the staff in this hotel differentiates it from the rest of the other hotels.

Hotel is 5 and 3 stations away from Hangzhou East and Hangzhou Main Railway station by the subway. It's directly linked to the subway via the mall using Exit C4. Linked to Kerry Shopping mall, which is a kids friendly mall with numerous eatries and Ole supermarket. If you come from the main China cities (e.g. Shanghai), the food options are not that exciting as most of the eatries are chain stores Walking distance to the West Lake. It's at the part of the Lake where theres a big Starbucks overlooking the lake. Took us less than 10 mins walk to reach there with a toddler in tow.

The hotel is very hidden from outside. It has the best location right next to subway. Four stops from train station. Very easy to travel to near area.

Took my parents to visit Hangzhou. Glad that I booked Xizi hotel. The ground is one of most beautiful garden in China with pleasant smell of fragrant tea olive in October. It has very long shoreline of West Lake and great views of most sightseeing points of the lake. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. They transported us to and from different gates since any time we needed. They also helped us to get taxi. Fresh fruits are provided everyday. We also get snacks for afternoon tea. Buffet breakfast is amazing with huge choices and great quality. Unfortunately, we didn't have time enjoying the Gym and swimming pool. They also provided one hour free tour of the hotel. I learned a lot of the hotel history from the tour. It is the best location for all sightseeing and restaurants. Highly recommended. I will stay here next time I visit Hangzhou.

Hangzhou is very Romantic city and Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou west lake scenic area perfectly arranged our stay in harmony with the nature. My daughter, and uncle stayed there three days and enjoyed the environment so much in its Horizon Club. It was my second stay there. Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou is very natural, peaceful, calm and the people in there are so so so friendly, represents unique China and her hospitality very accurately. There is nothing to be worried about. Great Buffet breakfast, Dinner we enjoyed. Great Cafe, Chinese Restaurants, European style restaurants, west lake boat ride, bank even night life all are in close distance. We definitely want to visit Hangzhou Shangri-La Hotel again.

I'm traveling on business at Hangzhou China frequently, and I am staying a the Grand Metropark Hotel Hangzhou at most time. At the recent staying at this hotel (2018. 09. 10 ~ 2018. 09. 13, Room 1605), Cheng Li and Xiao Xing the receptionists give me good service as changing my room into twin beds, arranging my courier package and explaining hotel complimentary service with kind. And I was satisfied with the newly decorated breakfast restaurant furnishing abundant food at the 1st. floor. Whenever I'm visiting Hangzhou, I will stay at this hotel and this hotel deserves to be strongly recommended.

I went there during a Chinese holiday and was surprised that the hotel was not so busy. I suppose because of the location. Really not convenient that every time you want to go around the West lake and the main attractions of Hangzhou, you need at least a 30 mins cab. Besides that issue, the stay went very well, service was friendly, the breakfast had a lot of good options, and the few dishes I tried at their restaurant Provence were excellent. A very nice hotel with luxurious rooms at a good price, but depends what you intend to do in Hangzhou. The location makes it not so ideal for sightseeing.

spent 2 days at the hangzhou during the china national day holiday. stayed the hayatt regency hangzhou. frist time to stay there although knew the hotel for the long time. hotel was great with very convenient location. the lake was just right in front of the hotel. since it was long holiday, traffic was bad. everywhere was packed with people and cars. took us 30 minutes to an hour everytime for us to return from a secenic point around the lake to the hotel. that's why china is called "people's republic of china". without the people, it would be only republic of china and it should be at the other side of the taiwan strait. anyway the hotel overall was very nice. room was clean and comfortable. breakfast in the morning was excellent with ample of choices. will definitely come back again next time at hangzhou (but not in the holiday!).

It was a pleasant stay, we traveled in a group of four, rented two rooms. My room is clean and comfortable, due to limited budget we booked both rooms without window under a promo deal, very good value of money. But without windows, it is hard to know whether it's already sunrise, must set alarm clock to alert ourselves about the time. Our room in Ibis is clean, with basic and simple amenities, no fridge. I like the 2in1 cleansing gel because it's designed for both cleansing hair and body. The only thing to be improved is the paper cups, they gave us two paper cups in bathroom and another two for hot drinks usage in the cabinet. Both functions didn't work well neither to place toothbrush nor drinking hot water. It is not easy too find a budget hotel in Hangzhou with high speed internet, we are pleased that Ibis has it. The good thing about Ibis Hotel is, you know what you will get when staying in this international chain hotels, you can never imagine what you will get from some other local budget hotels in China until you checked in. Overall, it's a very pleasant stay.

I was impressed with the size of the room with a separate bedroom, living room area, large bathroom and the kitchen. Athought I was there only one night, I felt like I was "at a home away from home". Location is excellent, Oakwood is located within very modern shoping complex with close proximity to major turists attractions (walking distance). Hotel staff was very friendly, helpfull and efficient. Front desk personell made me feel welcome at all times. Also need to mention relativelly low cost for an Internet access (RMB 30 for 24 hours whilst other hotels in HangZhou charge at least double that). I would return to the Oakwood together with my Family for our next visit to HangZhou.

We have a wonderful stay in the water view villa. The room & the surrounding view is excellent. If you would like to enjoy the peaceful environment in Hangzhou, it is the right hotel for you. It is near the wetland park & there is a hotel cart, which can bring you around Xixi heaven including the wetland meseum, the cart made our trip extremely convenient travel around Xixi heaven. It takes around 20-30 mins to the main attractions near west lake area & taxi cost around $35. All staff here is extremely helpful & friendly, they are very attentive to client’s need. We would like to specially thanks to Chris, he made our trip very smooth! We will definitely stay again in the future!

The hotel is located outside the overseas-tourist area, but reasonably close to West Lake if that’s your principal destination in Hangzhou; with a little extra effort to achieve the Grand Canal. None is a problem. The rooms are quite small, but, if its an issue, very clean and sufficiently equipped. But you do get what you pay for; and you pay for - a room. Nothing else. The girls on Reception try very hard to resolve your questions and usually we got there in the end. During my week the wifi was quite fast and always on-line. There are a number of local eateries around. My final comment is that this is a pleasant little place if, like myself, you seek to be in the ‘ordinary’ China, where the folk around you are getting on with their daily lives; and you can learn from just being there. If more is required .............

i had a brief ttip to Hangzhou, and if i'd had any idea, i would have stayed 5+ days. Considering i only use a hotel for safe sleeping, the Sofitel fit the bill. It is a little bit dated and could use some freshening up. But i am not there to chill in a hotel room. The room is comfortably sized and the beds are large and comfy too. A nice bathroom as well. Only "complaint" is that there was a view only into the building across- very close. so drapes had to be closed at all times. Additionally, the windows don't seem to seal well, or there is a duct issue. I am not sure which but i awoke each morning to pungent cigarette smoke smell in the room that made me actually check to see if the windows were open. The staff is really helpful. especially the lovely lady in the business centre who helped us arranged train tickets for our next 2 destinations. She could not have been more helpful. the cocktail lounge in the lobby serves pretty nice drinks at a good price. it is a shame it closes relatively early. but it seems the way in China. The hotel is across from the lake and is a perfect location for accessibility to all the things around the WestLake area that you can get to on foot.

Hotel is located at the west side of west lake, at a less crowded location. 5 only walk from the hotel access to part of the lake is even more beautiful than those famous attraction on the lake. Hotel Front desk are very friendly and helpful. Help us to arrange a taxi using her private phone when the booking hot line can't get a taxi. Opposite hotel in a local resident street have so many small family operated local restaurant. Price is cheap and food are so delicious. My daughter love it so much Will definitely return back when visit Hangzhou again.

From check in to the room is great. It was my second stay there. However I need to commend on the cafe that serves breakfast. The hot food section does not taste good and the selection is mediocre. Spring roll is dry bacon is not crispy to name a few. Fruit selection is few and the cold cuts tasted horrible. Apart from that staffs are not even attentive and a distinct lack of an occasional smile. The Japanese restaurant which was mentioned in the guest directory is sub par on it food. Sashimi is not that fresh and overly cold. Soy sauce that comes with it is not suitable and the wasabi tasted cheap. Sushi is also not made well with loose grains in the platter served. Basic service SOP is lacking as they serve sashimi, sushi, soup and fried rice all at the same time to an individual. I know that it is not under the hotel management but since it was mentioned in the guest directory, I would at least expect a certain standard. The establishment is great but I felt it is let down by the quality of the food and F&B staffs.

Poor service and booking system, the hotel couldn’t find the booking and kept us waiting for over an hour. I have contacted Agoda CS to reconfirm with the hotel.

Good service at receptionist, nice room, comfortable bed, love the modern classic touch in the room. Worth the price and definitely would stay here again when I'm in Hangzhou.

This is one of the most strategically located hotels in Hangzhou and the cleanliness and friendly staff at the hotel makes it a bargain!! Rooms are tidy, clean and big. It has a great cafe for business meetings and hotel staff are extremely helpful. A plus point would be its closeness to nice restaurants and night spots (such as Paramount, etc). Various steamboat restaurants are also conveniently located around the hotel. This is especially good since it is freezing cold now during winter.

Relaxing and comfortable hotel in Hangzhou. Location was a bit off but it is located next to xi xi wetlands. A very relaxing hotel and the bed sheets is made of silk. Toilet design is very modern and very functional. Staff was fairly friendly. There was a blackout but the hotel did not seem to handle it well as I had to call many times to find out what happened. Breakfast spread is fairly good.

the structure of the hotel is fascinating, with sphere-like structure making it easily recognisable, the vastness of the hollow space inside the hotel is incredible, it would be expensive to cool the area, the interior uses luxurious material making it very beautiful, although all rooms are situated at the outer part of the sphere, we do not feel the room is not actually square. The room is huge, probably over 60m2, there is separate toilet, bathroom with shower and big bathtub, make up area, wardrobe room and washing sink, they are all very well maintained and clean, there is a nice big sofa to lie around to watch TV. The staff are very nice and helpful, expecially the concierge, one of them even chased the leaving taxi for us as we all know taxi is very hard to find in Hangzhou. The are of the hotel is in the centre of development, it will be a very busy commercial area in the future. Love this hotel and would like to stay there again

I enjoyed my three night stay. The Wuyang appears to have been quite recently refurbished. It is very nicely appointed and scrupulously clean. None of the staff I dealt with, except one, spoke any English. I speak a little Mandarin, so I got by and the English speaking staff member was very helpful. It was raining on my last evening and I chose to dine in the hotel restaurant. The menu is on an iPad all in Chinese. I had quite a long wait until my meal arrived. Hangzhou is a big city and the subway is a very good way to get about. It is a solid half hour walk from Ding'an Subway Station to the hotel. But it is an interesting and pleasant walk whichever way you choose to go.

This is the closest hotel to the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. Complimentary airport transfers run frequently and take less than 5 minutes. It is a great place to stay before an early morning departure or after a late night arrival. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are new, clean and comfortable. However, the cost of a room is a bit pricey, breakfast is not included, and the inner courtyard landscaping was a bit shabby.

Best hotel that I've stayed over in Hangzhou. Staff over at Reception is nice and friendly. Very approachable and professional! Had a pleasant stay. Staff Lucy is the staff that I would like to complement of her professionalism and going over the extra miles in helping my check in and other request.

I like the mini loft very much as it is very compact and clean. The hotel staff is very friendly and did her best to make us feel at home. The hotel is located at quite a strategic location. My friend and I walked to Westlake( you can opt for taxi, but walking to Westlake will let you see the town of Hangzhou). My only grouse about the mini loft is that the heater tend to blow directly at the bed hence resulting in a rather too warm night.

The staff were very accommodating and waited up until 1AM for us to arrive. The hostel itself is well-equipped, with a restaurant/bar, lots of games, garden and a lovely dog :) I had a twin room with my sister, and the beds were big, the bathroom very clean and nothing looked dated or worn. Would absolutely recommend this place for anyone staying. The price was good too. Breakfasts were ok and reasonably priced. The only downside was the length to the city centre. It took about 20 minutes to walk to the West Lake, and it was quite far to the city centre area. Since Hangzhou is quite busy with tourists all of the time, traffic and lack of taxis made getting around a little bit difficult. However this is also probably a positive since the masses have descended on Hangzhou since the G20, so this hostel felt peaceful and tucked away.

The room was awesome! We stayed in several 4-5 stars hotels in China and this one was by far the best room. Clean, luxurious, extra soft beds, spoiling bath tub.. It definitely made our stay in Hangzhou enjoyable. Room-wise this hotel seriously deserves 5 stars. The location isn't amazing though, unless you want to do some fashion shopping (in Western- not Chinese- prices). But that's OK too because taxis are so cheap (ask the hotel staff to call one for you, otherwise you might have to wait a while before you can find one....)

Excellent. After I left another hotel in Hangzhou for not being treated as a guest, this was a totally different experience. Nice room, good food, friendly staff that makes you feel at home.
