Stayed at Seethawaka Regency for two nights in December 2016. Overall, it is a beautifully constructed hotel/event center (primarily a wedding/banquet hall) built in 2014. The architecture and landscaping are impressive. The rooms are in single/duplex cabins. The infinite pool is sufficiently large for a decent swim. The bed and pillows were hard, but tolerable. Sheets were rough. The ongoing maintenance in the room was lacking - staff were responsive when issues were raised, but those should not have been left for customers to discover. That said, this is likely one of the best hotels in the area (there aren't too many other choices), but there aren't many reasons for staying in Avissawella. If you have to stay in the region, Seethawaka Regency will provide you with a decent night's rest (as long as you bring mosquito repellent). Pros: Beautiful architecture and landscaping Large infinite pool (no view from the pool) Onsite restaurant that serves tasty, reasonably-priced food Staff that are attentive - maybe even a bit obsequious Rain showers in the bathroom Effective AC unit in the room Cons (see photos): Lack of attention on needed maintenance (pipe feeding rain shower had burst flooding the area above the shower stall - obvious if you clean the bathroom as paint was peeling from the ceiling and had littered the floor) - but staff had ignored issue until I complained (they fixed the burst pipe, but did a pretty sloppy job cleaning up the affected area). Mold growing in and around the shower - clean up insufficient even after asking repeatedly Missing bolt holes for french window; bolts/bolt holes not aligned on main door Bathroom vent does not have a mosquito screen and the bed does not have a mosquito net. Bring mosquito repellent if you don't want mosquitoes feasting on you at night. Room in need of a coat of paint - dirt, dead mosquito blood, and cracks evident Stained bed runner Nitpick: Small (20") TV
