A great little city easily accessed by local train. You can come for the shopping or various restaurants in the area.
The 17km coastline cycling path is my favourite. It winds along a long sandy beach, a wide mangrove area, some rural area, several iron bridges, a series of wind turbine.
The place we stayed in, is about 15 mins normal walk to the train station. The places of interest are quite far.
the people in Hsinchu is so nice and helpful. Even though they don't really speak English but they would try to find a way (whatever it is) to help you even when you don't ask.

Quiet and friendly place... as this is the business city in Taiwan... nothing exciting but you'll have what you need in this city!
Check out the Taiwan Pavilion if you have time to spare. Tickets cost 250 NT but the globe room shows a nifty 360 movie all about Taiwan.

Hsinchu is alittle bit dry and quiet. Food there is good and people are friendly. The 2 Theme Park there are a hit for the kids that are travelling with us.
Traveling in Hsinchu can be a pain . Although the downtown area of Hsinchu is small , you probably need to walk a lot to reach the place you want to go .
