Located in Malaysia’s state of Kedah in Kubang Pasu district, Jitra is a small town that’s just 30 kilometers from the Thailand border. Jitra once played an important role during the Second World War. Today, remnants of the war can be seen on some of the old buildings and landmarks, but much of the culture is focused on education as the town is home to two major universities. Jitra is within easy access to the major cities in the region, with buses regularly arriving at Jitra Bus Station.
Visitors to Jitra will find lots of opportunities for relaxing outdoor spaces, such as the Darulaman Park and Lye Huat Garden, both of which are great choices for those looking to enjoy the outdoor scenery. Lye Huat Garden is an especially great choice for those traveling with children, as the zoo isn’t too big but has enough animals and activities to occupy an afternoon of fun.
