The Emerald Cove Koh Chang Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)
Klong Prao Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"We originally intended to stay at White Sands Beach but fortunately for us there was no accommodation available for our required dates - and so we found ourselves experiencing the best ever check-in service at the Amari Emerald Cove Resort. That first night we dined at the Just Thai restaurant and had one of the best thai dining experiences ever. Next day we did decide to upgrade our room to one with an ocean view - but for the amount of time we actually spent in our room this really did not make a lot of difference. We found taxis plentiful out front of the hotel and never had to wait for transport. We found this mode of transport to be most suitable for the occasional visit to White Sands Beach and to visit the great local restaurants and massage just 2-3km up the road towards the elephants and waterfall. We were able to swim twice a day at the hotel and also hired kyaks from the hotel at very reasonable rates to checkout some of the islands close by. We also hired an automatic motor bike just out front of the hotel and went exploring to the waterfall (to the north) and to the fishing village markets down south. At the fishing village we lunched at Buddha View restaurant which proved another highlight of our trip. We also availed ourselves of the local tailors to bring home some custom made garments - so we have some great souvenirs of our time on Koh Chang. I think the location was just the best to experience Koh Chang. Close enough to visit White Sands Beach to enjoy the noisy festivities but able to enjoy our stay in the peaceful surrounds of Amari resort and the many local attractions nearby. "

Kacha Resort & Spa Koh Chang (SHA Extra Plus)
White Sand Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"This is one of the nicest, centrally located hotels in Koh Chang. The hotel is modern, clean and air conditioned. The beachside restaurant has a view that is out of this world. The staff are cheerful and helpful, each day the chambermaid made our towels into a different shape- one day she even made an elephant!"

Awa Resort Koh Chang (SHA Extra Plus)
Kai Bae Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"After staying at 2 other hotels on Koh Chang we decided to stay at Awa, as soon as we arrived we were welcomed by all the staff, especially the manager. The hotel lobby is incredible and really you want to stay in there for a while to experience how awesome this hotel is. We were upgraded to a superior room so we could get the best view, thanks again to the manager, he went above and beyond any of his duties and really made our stay at Awa something special! The room was beautiful, and finally we got a good nights sleep in Koh Chang In a very comfortable bed! Every request we made was attended to, promptly. The pool is incredible and you will want to spend most of your time in and around it. I know the Thai people are friendly, but these guys at Awa were really something else, staying here really made our journey to Koh Chang worth the effort and I would recommend Awa to anybody, it's the only hotel I'd recommend!"

KC Grande Resort & Spa (SHA Extra Plus)
White Sand Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"I live in Thailand and visit Koh Chang on a fairly regular basis and the KC Grande is my favorite hotel. With the best location in Koh Chang, large, clean rooms, many English TV channels, great wifi, and a fantastic breakfast buffet what’s not to like? They also have a very good exercise facility with a great view and modern machines that all work great. I’ve been a regular guest at this hotel over the years and they never fail to impress me with their English speaking and accommodating staff. "

Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Kai Bae Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"Cliff Beach is a wonderful resort, it's honestly the best choice for Kai Bae Beach in comparison to others. Kai Bae is only about a mile and a half long and Cliff Beach offers the only accessible sandy beach with no rocks. I was looking into the Awa and White Knot, their beach is terrible, but they offer great views. Our room was great, we had poolside view and ocean view when on the balcony, access to wifi in the room, and breakfast was included and was pretty decent. The resort offers an array of ocean rental activities from boat rides, snorkeling, to kayaking. Cliff Beach does cater to the Russians, they pretty much over took the hotel, were nice and respectful, however word on the street is that Cliff Beach is the only hotel that will accept them. Unfortunately Koh Chang itself really caters to tourist, you won't get a lot of authentic Thai culture, however it is a beautiful place, great parks, waterfalls, and sandy beaches, if you choose the right hotel:) "

"The end of cheap beach huts. all getting expensive now and no discounts. I was in Koh Chang 2003 , 20016 , 2017 and it's the end for a solo traveller on a budget. if there's 2 of you , it's ok. Pros , fan huts are nice and big , shower good and toilet , bed nice. pool lovely and food , drink good but expensive now days. Cons. The beach isn't lonely beach anymore. full of Russians and Germans on holiday. couldn't do a discount with the manager to stay a month or 2. "

Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Klong Prao Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"This hotel is as good as the pictures, we stayed here for 6 days on our honeymoon and it was just perfect (although a little quiet as we went in July) the rooms are very large and the pools are kept very clean. The beach at the front of the hotel is also stunning!! We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast is great, loads of choice and very tasty!! We hired a motor bike and travelled accross the island, the roads are quite dangerous if you are an inexperienced rider as there are many tight bends and steep declines, however, it is definitley worth doing, we saw monkeys in the road and went to a lovely resyaurant at the bottom of the island called baracuda. The cons: (hardly any!) We thought the other meals however were a little over priced and not as nice as the restaurants on Koh Chang. Tropicana staff could also do with learning how to make a cocktail as they were pouring orange cordial in instead of juice etc. There was also no entertainment on in the evening and the bar closed at 10:30. Overall one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in!! Highly recommended!! In fact I want to go back right now!!!"

Banpu Koh Chang Hotel
White Sand Beach,Koh Chang - View on map
"We stayed at few hotels in Koh Chang but this one is THE BEST. Amazing beach, very quite, authentic wooden bungalows and decent hot breakfast. The cons - bungalows have very thin walls so if you're Thai love tourist - it's no deal :), pool is rather small and the staff is not that friendly. But you'll not find better place for the value of money in Koh Chang."

Santhiya Tree Koh Chang Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

"We spent 5 nights at this resort for our honey moon and it was fantastic. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We were welcomed with a cold towel and a Thai herbal drink upon arrival. The staff took us on a tour of our room and were very thorough. We had so much fun in koh Chang mostly because our hotel was so great. The resort is situated on a nice white sandy beach and it is by far the best compared to the other resorts around. The resort provides motorbikes for rent at only 200baht per day which was an amazing way to allow guest to fully enjoy all the island has to offer. We spent two days exploring by bike and it was the best 200baht spent! They also offer a fabulously luxurious massage by the beach for a very reasonable price. We took advantage of the oil massage and it was lovely. The breakfast was also a large variety which was great! The food at the restaurant is also not bad but a little pricey. We ended up eating most of our meals elsewhere. Overall if we come back to koh Chang we will surely be back to panviman resort! "

AANA Resort & Spa

"Right after check-in, we took the free boat ride to its private beach to watch the gorgeous sunset. They have a bar on the beach and the bartender made me a coconut shake using a fresh young coconut and its water. It was delicious and refreshing! The boat driver picked us up from the beach at a little past 6pm. We then had dinner at the resort's restaurant. I think our party of eight were all satisfied with our meals. Right after dinner, we took the free boat ride to watch the fireflies. But there were only a couple of them at this time of the year. We got to enjoy God's other creation though.....the billons of stars as it was a very clear night. We went back to the restaurant for some drinks so we could continue listening to its great singers, Ayie and Randy. My son even got to sing and play the guitar on stage. We had a wonderful time on that beautiful evening in Koh Chang! We also had fun using their free kayaks the nex day after enjoying their appetizing and delightful free breakfast buffet! "

More about Koh Chang

Koh Chang is Thailand's second largest island, and much of it is covered with national parkland. The island’s beaches and rainforests are its biggest allure, offering diving, trekking, and sailing. Trat Airport is the gateway for those arriving from Bangkok’s international airport. Buses from the Bangkok airport also offer a more inexpensive alternative to flying. Once in Trat, ferry services complete the final leg of the journey to land on the eastern side of the island.

Koh Chang's beaches are typical of those found around Thailand's islands, sporting beautiful white sand and warm blue waters. The island's most popular beach is even called White Sand Beach, although right around Koh Chang travelers will find similar idyllic conditions. Klong Prao Beach, midway along the island's west coast, is also a popular resort area with several high-end properties.

Trat attracts mainly domestic tourists, and 5-star resorts on Koh Chang compare favorably to similar properties in places like Phuket or Samui while offering a slower pace of holiday than can be had in the more developed areas of Thailand. Mu Ko Chang Marine National Park also offers plenty for nature lovers, including waterfalls, virgin rainforest a diverse range of flora and fauna.

Koh Chang is an island of fishing villages and, as a result, the best dining on the island features fresh seafood. Travelers will find numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes set up along the beachfront, showcasing the island's stunning coastline.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Koh Chang for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
