"We stayed for 5 nights and the hotel choice turned out to be excellent. It has a great location with several rooms facing the lake. A grand lobby, restaurant and coffee shop with a beautiful view of the lake. It is only 2 - 5 km from the main Kollam market and 2 hrs from Trivendrum airport and 5 km from Kollam (Quilon)train statin.
The staff was very curteous and warm in their service and always helpful with a smile. The amenities allowed us to spend most of our time in doors as we had a 1 yr baby due to which we did not want to travel too much. They have a nice swimming pool, a small gym, free houseboat ride (30 min) and breakfast and evening tea are complimentary.
They also have a kids room with Nintendo Wi and Xbox and other games to keep them occupied at no extra cost. For couples with small babies like ours they also offer baby sitting services for Rs 500 / hour.

"The friendly and helpful staff are the best thing about the hotel. Very nice views from the rooms but unfortunately the main reason I chose to stay there ie the beach is closed for swimming. Small hotel pool partially compensated with nice views of the sea, but very tiny poolside area for seating. Had a nice massage. Cable TV often unavailable and WiFi mostly ok but sometimes unavailable. Classifieds as 5 star mainly to obtain liquor licence in temperant kerala, a good 3 or at best 4 star"Show more

"Stayed here for three nights visiting Kollam. The room was clean, spacious and well decorated, and the staff very attentive and friendly. We had our own balcony overlooking the lake, and the view was impressive.
The hotel could improve its punctuality a little, our houseboat tour was postponed at the last minute and laundry was delivered late. However in all other aspects the hotel lived up to expectations.
The hospitality manager Robinson deserves a special mention for his helpfulness and exceptional customer service, going out of his way to help on more than one occasion.

"Had a wonderful stay with my wife in the Lake view AC suite. The price was very reasonable for the location. The caretaker was very helpful and polite. As the food is made in kitchen as per the order we give, we were able to customize our food as per our wish. The Food was very tasty.
Canoeing for 2 hours was one of the best part with cool views.

"from the moment we arrived to our sad farewell 6 nights later, we had an excellent stay. everyone,from management to wait and cleaning staff were extremely helpful and friendly. the resort is in a secluded area on the backwaters, approx. 40 minutes by car from kollam. they have a new 4wd to take you anyone you need to go in comfort - which is excellent as many of the nearby roads are not tarred and very rough. if you are looking for some downtime whilst in india, and to relax in a quality environment, then fragrant is the place. we will definately be staying there again - the team felt like family by the end of our stay and the local villagers were equally lovely and friendly."Show more

"On my way I never thought that I will find exactly what I was looking for. On arrival I was stunned to see the scenic views of the lake and the well maintained property. It's gorgeous, marvelous, feels like you are in sync with nature. Good view from the cottage and have calm and quite night. When wake up in the morning you feel rejuvenated, once you have a look through the windows. It's for lonely travelers who want peace of mind, couples and for groups. Good north Indian food, clean and quality rooms. If you can have boat ride through the lake it will be great as you can enjoy the backwaters of "Gods own country"

"Quality of food was good but on one or two occasions the quantity was lacking .The staff throughout the area from serving staff,to the cleaners and reception staff were most courteous and helpful and wannted you to enjoy your stay .Did try and book a sunset cruise but it was not available .Whilst it mentions indoor games -did they just comprise the table tennis table and outdoor games the badminton court - a booklet telling you these things would have added to the enjoyment of being in a place close to paradise"Show more

"The hotel is in a very central location surrounded by shops and supermarkets and with the bus and railway stations nearby. For this reason it can be a little noisy. The standard room is small and the aircon did not seem to work but the standard of cleanliness is 5-star. Service was excellent and the staff were all very helpful. The restaurant's food was very good and cheap. On the whole the hotel offers great value for money. We will certainly stay here again if we visit Kollam again."Show more

"The Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was big and clean and the overall home-stay was a nice casual place. The manger bought us beer and we cooked him dinner, he also helped us get to an ashram which was situated over and our out of Kollam. "With a laid-back view over palm tree-studded waterways, this is the unspoiled backwaters of Kerala. You will watch local fisherman and workers paddle canoes in front of your cottage, hear birds chirping and people singing, and the hotel offers relaxing canoe tours through the backwaters and around the lake as well. If you need to get online, the WiFi is good, a little slow but reliable. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and speak good English. The Kerala lunch and dinner offered is good, though the other items we ordered off the menu were not good (veg briyani was just veg and rice mixed together). "Munroe Eco Camp is a wonderful place to fully unwind. You can camp in a tent, stay in a room or even rent the island for yourself. With owner Paul you can have great conversations about India, Kerala, business, science and life. He has a very dedicated staff - Ancy, Ashokan, two young men and a cooks couple - who made my stay the best during my 4-week tour through Kerala. I was short of nothing: Ancy checked several times in the day if I wanted anything, Ashokan made a special steam bath of eucalyptus and other herbs when I had a cold, and the chefs made tasty dishes to my liking. They also arrange tours (I can recommend the Village tour) for you and other activities for you. So if you want to get away from the busy cities, stay on a private island in the middle of Ashtamudi Lake and a long Kallada River & enjoy the beautiful nature, then you should go to Munroe Eco Camp / Vini's Farm."Show more

"I stayed just one night, had a swim, a visit to the light house and a two hours Ayurvedic treatment.
The pool is nice and big and nobody else had a morning swim (as it is covered not really set up for tanning)
The treatment was good
I found the restaurant uninspiring, super cold AC and the menu did not have proper marking of vegetarian food. Breakfast was local style, and ok
I had problems with transportation as it seems the hotel is not set up for people coming without own car. I had to pay 600 INR to get dropped at the train station. No Uber in Kollam and the hotel staff said there were no rickshaws (though a hundred meters away and beyond I passed many...). This was very disappointing service."Show more
