Pleasant city. Lovely tuk tuk drivers. We visited Kratie specifically to see the Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong.
It was a lovely and memorable experience to see them, how luckly are we.
The dolphins are a great thing to see and Kratie is a great place to visit. I stayed to long! One to 2 nights is enough.
It's just a pass through place. Very mellow town. Convenient to get around.
The only real things to do in Kratie are to rent a motorbike, see the dolphins, and visit the island of Koh Trong with its floating village.
It's a nice place to stay for a short time.
the city is not really as big as some other tourist cities such Phnom Penh and Siem Reap but it's really curbed for your travel.
You can find good food, good place to visit and entertainment.
After I moved my hotel to Heng Heng 1, I was able to have a very relaxing break here. The view from my new hotel was excellent with good balconies to sit and and observe the local people as they came and went to the Island opposite.
There was a good restaurant round the corner with good internet services.
A typical Cambodian town - a very long way to go in the hotel stakes. Yes, I know I am in Cambodia and I dont expect Western standards I just want a nice meal and not be surrounded by flies whilst eating it .
Just advising you to ask yourself 'do I really want to see dolphins that much. Its a long way to go.
Go see the dolphins. Do NOT stay at Rajabori Villa or at the Bungalow (same owner - very overpriced).
Be sure to visit the Red Sun Falling cafe/bookstore, they are really helpful and friendly.
