the grand dorsett hotel is only 4 years old. however, it has set itself up as the premier hotel in labuan. all the rooms are large and spacious, from the smallest to the largest. the royal suite boasts two bedrooms and central living area. whilst the premier suites are smaller, they still have a large separate living area from the one bedroom. making them both ideal for families, who may need the extra room for additional children’s beds. all rooms have king size beds in the main bedroom and are fully air-conditioned. as you enter the large lobby, you feel welcome and relaxed. there is a central bar, offering reasonably priced alcohol, food and beverages. just off the main lobby is the fun pub, which is great if you like live music. however a word of warning, it is very loud. other facilities include valet parking, a large gymnasium and swimming pool. if you take a room on either the 7th or 8th floors, you also have access to the executive lounge. the hotel also caters for both smokers and non smokers. all the staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. they’ve even booked my onward travel, whist i’ve relaxed in the lobby bar. the hotel is located near the water front, and the choice of views is either of the harbour or victoria town. it is only a couple of minutes walk to victoria and all the shops, many duty free, bars and restaurants. the island of labuan is government tax free, making the purchase of any goods very cheap in comparison to the rest of malaysia. opposite the hotel is a large mall offering very reasonably priced goods. this building also houses most of the multinational banking corporations on the upper floors. i’ve stayed at this hotel twice now, and nothing has changed my mind, in wanting to return on my next visit.

Reached hotel, check in with simple identity verification and the bell boy standby beside to load in the luggage into our room. The next day, told the receptionist Miss Jane the purpose we are Labuan this trip and asking help for buying pails, kettle, iron board, iron and some others, after a small group meeting of 3 hotel staffs, we are sending to places to buy all the essential. Hotel Labuan Point, all the staffs, I would like to say: Thank You Very Much. Me and family will sure come again your place. See you all! Airport pickup and drop off and the places hotel sent me was in FREE. Food served was Five Stars. Friendly staffs in 100% helpful. Location in town nearby airport.

I would recommend the Lazenda Hotel to any traveller type. I've stayed at two other hotels in Labuan on previous business trips, which were recommended by my Malaysian colleagues. On this visit, I decided to book through Agoda's list of member hotels. The Lazenda will definitely be my hotel of choice for future trips to Labuan.

Comfortable matrices but small pillows .. Restaurant 's menu is large branded ...Long term waiting for ordered food and drinks !! The hotel is family orientated The distance from Tiara to Night Hot Spots in Labuan is about 10 min drive or taxi (don't imagine walking distance to clubs and pubs in downtown ) Hotel's Lift interior is in Terrible condition !! (perhaps upon service a and maintenance-not sure..) In Generally ,the hotel is good -little bit is overpriced as per overall condition and service against offered price/cost from others similar hotels in that area ,but I can recommend Tiara as an Good Hotel in Labuan Cheers!

The location is within walking distance to Labuan Ferry Terminal. It's near the Labuan jetty, There is some food restaurant available nearby, After 8 all quiet but the karaoke makes the night happening. Forgot to mention you have to put in RM 100 as a guarantee but you'll get it back on check out. The room was a bit smelly upon arrival after a while no smells at all. Overall, our stay was pleasant, the room was comfortable, everything was working fine. The only problem was that the initial room that I booked was advertised as having twin double beds instead of twin single beds, therefore I felt misled. I did not receive any reply to my e-mail to double confirm about the beds but I booked the room anyway hoping that it has twin double beds. Thankfully, upon arrival, the hotel staff suggested us to change to a room with a king-sized bed (I was travelling with my mom and sister) and we happily agreed despite having to climb the stairs to the 4th floor (yup, the hotel does not have an elevator but this was clearly stated in the Agoda advertisement). I think the room had been left unoccupied for some time as our feet became black due to the dusty floor (but this issue was resolved by requesting for a housekeeping service the next morning, so everything was A-okay from then until the moment we left). Still recommendable though.

As a solo traveler I opted for a single room which cost me less than RM140 for a 2 night's stay. From the hotel one can walk to the Central Market, the Mini Bus & Taxi Terminal, Day and Night Street Market, Duty Free Shops and the International Ferry Terminal. If one is fit, you an even walk to the Museum, the Financial Shopping Complex, Labuan Walk and the War Memorial (will take you nearly 30 minutes). Overall the hotel is clean and well maintained. And there is a fantastic sea food restaurant on the second floor. My single bed room number 215 was good however some things need to be fixed. The air conditioning was top class. It was cold. However the bathroom hot water was not working up to mark. Though the hot water was switched on, the water was not hot. It was moderately cold. And the water supply was low pressure. The window at the bathroom needs to be fixed. One of the window pane was missing. The toilet was functioning well and it was clean. However I saw a cockroach one night and it did give me the jitters. The window in the room too needs to be looked into. Maybe the curtain cloth can be changed. The bed was comfortable and the floor was clean. The TV was good with 2 channels - TV 3 and Astro Channel Cinemax. Overall it was an affordable value for money stay. Maybe the standard rooms for 2 persons could be better and well maintained. Another good thing of the hotel was that the check in was at the time I walked in and that was at 10.30 in the morning. I was given the keys to my room on the spot. The staff were friendly and wonderful. Had a fantastic stay in Labuan. Thanks to One Hotel!. Samuel Yesuiah Seremban

This is my first trip to Labuan. After very much thoughts I took the challenge of selecting this hotel and it was truly worth for money. I would definitely recommend this to my company and fellow friends. Hoping to be there once again maybe by year end (if possible). A perfect atmosphere to relax both physically and mind, I felt I am at home all the way. Cheers

Just booked
Just viewed by other Agoda travelers
Traveler impressions of Labuan
Need a lot of improvement in tourism. Need clearance/cleaning works on the beaches. Nice beaches but lots of rubbish (according to locals its due to the season).
The government have to monitor the public beaches whilst the private beach/hotel should hired more manpower to do the job.
Labuan is not a big city. Just by staying one or two days at Labuan will be able to make you round the whole Labuan.
need to aware that the schedule for ferry and speed Boot from labuan to brunei(muara) and Muara (brunei to Labuan jetty is NOT fixed and unable to book in advance ONLY availble to buy same day.
therefore if your time to flight need allowance at least 8 hours the breach need to highly maintain
Labuan is a workers city. Lot of fly in fly out workers so hard to find accommodation. No shops tempted me to go shopping in.
Lots of Duty free shops. Lots of statues and a wonder through the town centre is interesting but not something that you would spend hours doing.Hotel pool was where we spent most of our time.
If you prefer eat rice, guess Restaurant Pulau Labuan located at Hotel Pulau Labuan 2 is the best choice.
I can't found other nice food. Beer and alcohol is a must buy item just be aware on the expire date. Not so recommend go aquarium although its free entry, little species and tiny. War memorial park you may go as it well-organized.
If you are looking to kick back and relax i would recomend 3 - 5 nights at Palm Beach Resort but there really isn't that much to see here especially without a car.
I possibly should have looked at hiring a taxi for the day but i enjoyed floating around the resort. I was told the war memorial is very good also.
When you arrived in Labuan and do not afraid to rent a car, if you plan to visit the landmarks or monuments.
And do not forget to stop a Anjung Ketam, this is a must in your itinerary list to enjoy the yummy crab! When you shop at Jalan OKK Awang Besar, don't forget to bargain, bargain and bargain. Liquor is cheap but make sure you're sober when you leave Labuan, otherwise you will not allowed to board your flight!
There's really nothing much you can do at Labuan. But, that means more time for you to just chill around :)
Scene of fierce fighting prior to the end of WWII, Labuan has resurrected itself into a thriving base for the offshore oil industry.
It's streets are quite wide, clean, devoid of litter and secure; a combination not always found in Asia. Armed guards outside banks/shopping centers are noticeable by their absence. Pay 15 Ringgit for a taxi to/from the airport.
Come to relax becuase this not a place with much to do. If to want to just wind down it is a good place to enjoy.
Free Tax place, if like to drink alcohol in Malaysia, it is the cheapest place with plenty of differance brands and kinds of selection.
Although Labuan is a small town, but if planning to do site seeing, if you can rent a car is better. because the transportation is not very welling done. Some hotel provide shuttle service, but is only to certain shopping place.
It is a duty free town, basically the wine or alcohol are consider cheap with compare with other state.
You find plenty of choice of alcohols. Chocolate is another things that I travel there. Plenty of selection, brands and you name it you properly can find it there.
Beaches in Labuan is fantastics, Very beautifull. It is a small island, u only need 45 minutes to have one fast trip by car.
But excluding activity at beaches and islands, there are not much ativities that we can do. Only a few good restaurant available, only a few attractions available, and limited good hotels.
45 mins drive and you will have circled the whole island. Very laid back sightseeing. There are entertainments at karaoke joints, discotheques and bars.
If you're a diver, the surrounding dive sites near the island are one of the worlds best.
Small but peaceful island. Has quiet 3 sandy beaches. If you come hear for holiday you must stay at Palm Beach & Resort otherwise only one day would enough for you.
It is a small island but as it is a duty free place drinks for nightlife is very cheap compared to other places in Malaysia.
It is relaxing and people are easy going so if you want to relax, eat and drink well for a reasonable price I cam recommend to visit the island. You can with ferry to Brunei and Sabah for further explorations.
While in Labuan you must visit the Second World War memory park. chimney and Botanical Garden of bird .
Beautiful and romantic scenery with trees and coastal path - it's also a friendly and peaceful place.
Nice relaxed small island with a reasonable infrastructure and good places to stay. Close to Sabah and Brunei and by air to the rest of Malaysia
One of the most cleanest, safe and peaceful. Check out the local fruits - Buah terap, membangan, tampoi and belunu, only found in Labuan and Sabah.
Small town, less then 100k people, less than 100 km long island. Paradise for sailors: cheap food, cheapest booth I ever seen been sold in so called duty free shops.
They say there are cheap gearls but we never tried.
Labuan is just a small town but if you want to release your day to day stress, come over and stay in Labuan
Labuan is a very nice clean and well maintained island, government employees maintain the gardens, parks and public areas, there are things to do for all ages, sightseeing, health and fitness, shopping, dining and nightlife, there are some excellent sea-food restaurants and very reasonably priced, because the island is a tax and duty free territory of Malaysia, many many bargains can be found in the numerous duty free shops, the local people are very nice and accommodating to the foreigners, you can also take ferry transport to visit Brunei or Kota Kinabalu from Labuan.
It's quite a close community where everyone knows everyone. The main town is known as Labuan Town (Bandar Labuan in Malay)but was formerly known as Victoria during the colonial era.
Labuan Town is among the cleanest towns in Malaysia. You will observe the Labuan Corporation (local authority) workers diligently doing their job. Labuan was proclaimed a Federal Territory on 16/04/1984 and declared an International Offshore Financial Centre on 1/10/1990. A few of the major businesses that are run on the island include international offshore banking, steel mills, a methanol plant, floor tiles production, flour mills as well as offshore supplies. Because of these major businesses, Labuan has many non- Labuan natives that work here. Understand Federal Territory of Labuan is located off the northwest coast of Borneo, north of Brunei Bay and faces the South China Sea. It comprises of the main island of Pulau Labuan and six smaller islands namely Pulau Kuraman, Pulau Daat, Pulau Rusukan Besar, Pulau Rusukan Kecil, Pulau Papan and Pulau Burong. It is located at 05 latitude North and 115 longitude East, and lies approximately 10 km southeast off the coast of the East Malaysian state of Sabah and 25 km north of Brunei. The Federal Territory of Labuan covers an area of 92 sq km and the main island of Labuan is only 75 sq km. Labuan is only 8km or twenty minute boat ride from Menumbok, a small fishing town in Sabah. High speed air-conditioned ferries ply daily to Labuan from Sabah, Sarawak and Negara Brunei Darussalam. The trip from Kota Kinabalu, capital of Sabah takes about 3 hours and about an hour from Negara Brunei Darussalam. It is roughly equidistant from Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore. There are direct flights from Kuala Lumpur as well as from Brunei. The island name, came from Brunei Malay word "labohan" which means anchorage. Labuan had a glorious history under the rule of various empires. After the demise of the Majapahit Empire in the 1
people here are honest and friendly. you can trust if you left something by mistake you can get it back.
food is cheap. what's best is that this is a duty free zone
In Labuan you must visit the war memorial because this is make Labuan come to be as you can see today.
you also can Enjoy you visit while visiting this island to go around the town and enjoy your beach swimming. You can Visit botanical garden , bird park, museum and Chimney.
Visit the War memorial and take a Taxi around the Island, it is an Oil/Gas destination, but has a number of attractions.
There is a small Island where you can rent a cabin, take your own food pus water. The Island is very well maintained and the staff very frienly. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat this would be it.
Lovely island which is quite small but has many beautiful beaches, check out the chimney and the diving wrecks.
There are a couple of islands that can be visited by boat - check them out, I believe they are fab, I will be visiting them next time I go there.

I would recommend the Lazenda Hotel to any traveller type. I've stayed at two other hotels in Labuan on previous business trips, which were recommended by my Malaysian colleagues. On this visit, I decided to book through Agoda's list of member hotels. The Lazenda will definitely be my hotel of choice for future trips to Labuan.

the grand dorsett hotel is only 4 years old. however, it has set itself up as the premier hotel in labuan. all the rooms are large and spacious, from the smallest to the largest. the royal suite boasts two bedrooms and central living area. whilst the premier suites are smaller, they still have a large separate living area from the one bedroom. making them both ideal for families, who may need the extra room for additional children’s beds. all rooms have king size beds in the main bedroom and are fully air-conditioned. as you enter the large lobby, you feel welcome and relaxed. there is a central bar, offering reasonably priced alcohol, food and beverages. just off the main lobby is the fun pub, which is great if you like live music. however a word of warning, it is very loud. other facilities include valet parking, a large gymnasium and swimming pool. if you take a room on either the 7th or 8th floors, you also have access to the executive lounge. the hotel also caters for both smokers and non smokers. all the staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. they’ve even booked my onward travel, whist i’ve relaxed in the lobby bar. the hotel is located near the water front, and the choice of views is either of the harbour or victoria town. it is only a couple of minutes walk to victoria and all the shops, many duty free, bars and restaurants. the island of labuan is government tax free, making the purchase of any goods very cheap in comparison to the rest of malaysia. opposite the hotel is a large mall offering very reasonably priced goods. this building also houses most of the multinational banking corporations on the upper floors. i’ve stayed at this hotel twice now, and nothing has changed my mind, in wanting to return on my next visit.

Door sensor was not functioning. We can enter without scanning the access card. We told the staff when we check in but no one assist on the door issue until we check out. More about Labuan
Labuan International Ferry Terminal provides access to islands like Papan and Rusukan Besar, to name just a couple.
Pohon Batu Beach is located right in Labuan main town, near the city center and within reach of several hotels and beachfront resorts. But the island is not short of many other beaches just as picturesque and convenient as this.
As Labuan is home to the best shipwreck diving sites in Asia, take advantage of these dive sites and arrange a comprehensive tour either through a private company outside of Labuan or through the help of the hotel staff, who would be a great source of information when it comes to arranging tours through local companies.
There is a lot more to see and do around Labuan, and the best way to discover the attractions, sites, and activities that this town has to offer is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
