Its our first time booking a room with a private onset at Ota Onsen Hanagokoro. "Room" is an understated description, its actually a big cozy log cabin with two standard beds (big enough for 2), a separate tatami sitting area, separate baths (with onsen) & toilet. The onset bath water is very hot so we have to mixed it with cold tap water to use it. They also provide a...

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in a room with a private bath (Hisakaki). Everything was excellent - top-notch service, meals, rooms, baths, free shuttle service! I was impressed even before arriving at the ryokan - left a note via Agoda about my arrival, and received a reply 2 days later. When we reached the Kurokawa bus stop on the day of our arrival, a staff ...

Here are some of the highlights - The ryokan is located in the town center. The host that greeted us spoke very good English and provided us with detailed explanation of how to use the onsen and everything. We particularly enjoyed this place because it had two private/family onsens that were free, in addition to other indoor and outdoor pools. Although the indoor ons...

First and only stay in a ryokan but I cannot imagine something being much better than this. The staff: They were amazingly friendly and so helpful. From being greeted in the parking lot, having our bags brought in on a cart with our name on a plank! To the helpful and patient explanations and service in our room and finally the assistance in taking our bags back to t...

We loved everything we saw at the ryokan from the friendliness of the staff to the facility, it's top-notch. All the onsens were well maintained with enough descriptions for English speakers to figure out what to do. Perhaps the best part of it was the meals. We were blown away by the 14-course kaiseki dinner included with the stay. This aone would've costed around $10...

This hotel is a very well kept traditional Japanese onsen hotel. I prefer this size to larger ones as there is less crowd at the onsen. They offer free family bath which is wonderful. The staffs are very helpful and even offered to take us to local restaurant for dinner as we didn't book meals with the hotel. Would love to come again.

The room is very spacious with very nice garden view outside the window. The private onsen is great! The staff are very polite and helpful. The dinner is Japanese fusion with western which is very delicious. This is a hotel definitely would like to stay again!

The beef in that 10 course dinner is insanely delicious. That star watching section actually has a freaking huge telescope that i wonder if the owner uses his whole life saving to buy that, they have an expert explaining the astronomy in Japanese (only), and I saw shooting star! The staffs are awesome, I have this malfunction credit card, but they can actually make ...

Very kind and courteous staff. The bedrooms and beds were super comfy. The sound of the river and pleasantness of the room made this one of the best stays in Japan for us. The title was the only confusing thing, since it said room for 3, but had to reserve for 2 adults. Also staff helped taxi to different locations.

Parking lots beside hotel. U will be able to c nice view from room and dinner room. Authentic Japanese food, every meals r small, cute n fresh. They served horse meat, beef, salmon, etc. It is a quiet stay, I had good rest. stay is at 1st floor, 2nd floor for meals n 3rd floor for onsen. There r 3 family private onsens, no worries, juz lock ur door. But too hot not sui...

First thing first, I love Kurokawa. It is such a beautiful and serene village, surround by the nature. For the ryokan, it is fantastic. Location: in the middle of the village and next to the river. Convenient to go to other shops. Room: Typical Japanese tatami room. Onsen: many onsen for you to choose. Interesting experience with the cave onsen. Cleanness: even tho t...

The ryokan was comfortable and clean. All rooms have its own private onsen. It only has 10rooms and is cozy and exclusive. Hotel staff do not speak English or any language other than Japanese so it helps to speak a little Japanese or have google translation with you. Staff were however very friendly and helpful and assisted us as much as they could. Food was yummy and ...

Location is away from the rest of the onsen places in Kurokawa - so it's peaceful and relaxing from the crowd. Because it's away from the rest of the onsen places, so it is around 500m walk to the "shopping and restaurant" . You will need to look out for the hotel signage if you are driving.

I stayed at Miyama Sansou for 2nights. The property just opened few months ago and not many reviews were available. However, Miyama Sansou was better than my expectations. And my husband and I fully rested during our stay at Miyama Sansou with our private hotspring tub and tasty food at restaurant Aze. I'll definitely revisit Miyama Sansou on my next visit to Japan.

When you arrive at Kurokawa station, you can call the hotel to pick you up from the bus station, the distance around 2KM, only 3 minutes by car. We stay on the second floor, the view is nice from the room. The room is using Tatami, very Japanese style. Because of no restaurant nearby, so you must book the dinner and breakfast, they serve Japanese food, very delicious. ...

Private onsen inroom is great and private outdoor onsen with superb view! We can see sunset during bathing. The dinner and breakfast were very delicious. Staff was very nice with fluently speaking in english. We coundn’t ask for more because this is the best ryokan that we ‘ve ever experienced.

Spacious, inside the woods, nice environment, but only for tourists who is driving. Very clean room with a separate bathroom equipped with a hot tub filled with hot spring water, not expecting that when I booked, a great bonus. The owner also cooked a huge, delicious breakfast, we were all very impressed. Highly recommend this place. A hidden gem.

IF you are looking for an affordable ryokan experience I would definitely recommend this place. The service is excellent as the staff try their best to help you. I felt really pampered at this place. They also have their own private onsen so you can choose to use this facility if you are not comfortable sharing a public onsen. The breakfast is also excellent. Within dr...

The outdoor hot spring is the best part of Yamamizuki. We had a great time thanks to the pleasant and meticulous staff. Language was also of no issue as many of the them are able to speak simple English. Great service and I hope to be back someday!

Quiet, clean, peaceful, just a couple of minutes walk up from the main street in Kurokawa, but that's a benefit. Also on a nice walking trail out of town. Food was wonderful, staff friendly and helpful. English was minimal, Korean was good, but in any case you'll muddle through. My only problem with Kurokawa in general is there seems to be no place selling decent coffe...

This was the best hotel in our 6 day self-drive holiday. We only stayed for a night. The hotel is on the top of a hill. We enjoyed the breathtaking mountain view, the open air hot spring, the Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast very much. Even before the trip, yamamizuki kindly helped us arrange for transportation to the Ryokan (offering bus timings, helping us reserve seats, chauffeuring us from the bus stop). There is only 2 room types shown on the booking site, japans house style and family room with tatami area. these 2 rooms are different from the photos seen on display, those rooms with huge balconies are the premium rooms, which are not shown at the room selections where they only provide ONE photos of each room type. Naturally, we thought the rooms are fitted with the...

Ryokan Fujimoto is tucked away from noise and bustle, amongst gentle forests and rice fields and on a river. Everything about this place is peaceful and refined. If you crave relaxation, reflection, peace, this is where you should go. The window of our room faced the forest and river. We left it open to listen to water all night and breathe in the perfume. The onsen ...
