Nikko Station Hotel II
Nikko,Nikko - View on map
"We loved staying at the Nikko Station Hotel. It was located in a peaceful area walking distance from Nikko Station. Nearby, there was also a supermarket where you can buy cheap cooked food. You will be able to use the microwave at the hotel's ground floor for heating your food and the hotel will even provide chopsticks. The hotel itself was really nice and clean, and staff were kind and accommodating. Our favorite part of the stay was the complimentary breakfast. It was really nice to try a Japanese-style breakfast and everything served was delicious! There is outside parking on the hotel grounds and also an area with coin lockers. We didn't have to use the coin lockers as we were able to store our luggage with the hotel staff before checking in and after we checked out. We will definitely stay here again when we come back and highly recommend this hotel for guests visiting Nikko!"

Nikko Park Lodge Tobu Station

"I booked a single bed in a 8-bed dorm room. The bed was a bunk bed, with a fair enough good mattress. It has an electric heated mattress. The bed comes with its own sockets, privacy curtains, and does not have any own light. For this dorm (and the rest of the floor), there are 1 shower, 2 toilets and 1 separate sink. The shower is clean, with a medium power shower and hot water. There are body wash and shampoo disposals. The dorm has a small locker. It comes with a lovely kitchen, where you can cook/heat up your food. It has a comfy communal area with sofas. The wifi was very good. Tiny towel is provided. It does not come with breakfast. The hostel is located to close to few spots to eat out and mini markets. 10sec walk to the stops of all the buses going around Nikko sightseeing spots 20sec walk to Nikko Tobu Station. 3min walk to Nikko JR Station. With regards to the staff, I was welcomed by Sei, who runs the place and speaks a good english if needed. I would definitely recommand this place for a short or long stay. The bed does not have any own light. For this dorm (and the rest of the floor), there are 1 shower, 2 toilets and 1 separate sink. It was not an issue for me, but you can face some waiting during peak hours."

Nikko Station Hotel Classic

"I traveled with my young children and my parents to Nikko for a 3 night stay at Nikko Station Hotel Classic. We enjoyed the stay very much. The location of the hotel is right across from the train stations. If driving there is ample, free parking available. To get to the main tourist attractions you will have to walk up about 20 minutes or catch a bus that will take you right there. There is also parking for 500yen right at the shrines. The people working at the front desk were very helpful. We found the convenience of the onsite restaurant to be a major plus. Especially with small children. Our breakfasts were included and the serve a buffet of western food and also have typical Japanese breakfast options as well. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and thought it was very good (not a typical Japanese menu, more Western). We were in walking distance to some small shops, bakeries and restaurants. The room was a good size and the bathrooms were typical for Japan. The hotel was very modern and very clean. We did not use the onsen but it looked very nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Nikko is beautiful! "

Traveler impressions of Nikko

More about Nikko

Boasting UNESCO World Heritage sites and incredible landscapes, Nikko is a small town nestled in the mountains north of Tokyo. The temples and shrines here are considerably more ornate than the typical Japanese structures as this is the home to the mausoleums of the Tokugawa Shoguns. A center for Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for many, many centuries, Nikko is the gateway to the Nikko National Park and is best reached via the Tobu Nikko Line from Tokyo.

Nikko is set along Japan’s Romantic Road, a route that travels through the mountains as well as interesting towns, active volcanoes, and hot spring resorts. Convenient public transportation can hinder the international tourists from exploring the area, but knowing what can be experienced in Nikko alone makes any hassle truly worthwhile. There are three main temples that garner the most attention. Toshogu is the grandest of them all as it is the burial place for the founder of the dynasty. The Sacred Stable found here is where you can see the carving of the famous three wise monkeys who ‘hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil’. Many other carvings and paintings can be viewed here as well. Rinno-ji Temple is known for its three large Buddha figures as well as the incredibly beautiful Shoyo-en Garden, and Futarasan Shrine is the oldest in Nikko, built in 1617. A hike through the national park here reveals incredible scenery as well as more attractions such as Senjogahara Plateau and Lake Chuzenji.
