Oxford hotels & places to stay

We stayed in a Queen Non-Smoking room at the Hampton by Hilton Oxford Hotel. Hotel is modern and clean but lacks soul as staff go about doing their job with little to smile about. The room is reasonable in size but does not have a bath tub. The hotel is right next to Kassam Stadium, home of Oxford United Football Club, so try to avoid dates where games are being played there. There's an entertainment complex right next door, Ozone Leisure Park which has a bowling alley and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was good but not fantastic. Parking is free and available right in front of the hotel. Overall, except for the lack of facial expressions by the staff, a good stay at this hotel.

Drove here via highway after paying hefty GBP4.00 hourly car park in Oxford city after late check in and 2-hr free Oxford city tour to much regret later. This Travelodge is 5 mins walk from Oxford Park and Pay Bus station and a 24-hr hourly coin operate car park, at a fixed rate so highly recommend to stay and park here. Stayed 1 night with a family member. Clean, tidy, comfortable, large room and bed, bathtub to sooth tired muscles and soak, TV with local channels for news, Quiet location next to Holiday Inn nearby. Friendly helpful reception. Many local Brits stay here. Not a touristy hotel which is to my liking. Waitrose and KFC is nearby within walking distance if you are hungry. Will return to stay here. Highly recommended.

An excellent stay in Oxford. The staff were attentive and uniformly friendly and helpful. Even after checkout, we were offered use of a guest lounge, continued parking in their carpark and a free walking tour of Oxford. We didn't dine at the hotel, but the dining room looked marvellous. The lift is small but just adequate for two guests with luggage. The room was beautifully appointed and had lovely views over nearby colleges. Curiously, though, there was only one bathrobe. The hotel's location couldn't be better. Right on the High Street with most colleges, the university, restaurants, shopping areas, the covered market and the Christ Church meadow all within easy walk. The car park was well signposted from the High Street. I could not imagine a better place to stay in the town centre if arriving by car. I will certainly stay at this hotel again when visiting Oxford.

As you approach the former prison you know you're in for a treat. You are greeted warmly, the rooms are spotless and have everything you may need during your stay. And breakfast was delicious. I chose eggs Benedict from the extensive menu. In fact the complete opposite to how the first 'guests' experienced their stay I suspect. There is one cell kept in its original condition...Must say I prefer the rooms as they are now lol. It was my first stay at the hotel but I would highly recommend and can't wait for my next visit to Oxford and the Malmaison.

Excellent room and very unique hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is close to several Oxford Colleges and yet far away enough from the congestion and noise in downtown Oxford. Only 10 minute walk to downtown. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The hotels in Oxford are expansive, so this one is something affordable, though it is far away from city center. But nice place to stay, esp if you have your own transport

This is my second stay with family. This is one of the historical place, oldest hotel in Oxford. Close to places to want to go like Museums, Christ Church for Harry Potter movie, Alice's shop and so on. (Walking distance) Also close to bus station to visit other locations (less than a minute)

The central location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of Oxford. A few minutes walk and you can be punting on the river, or in one of the lovely shopping streets, restaurants or bars. A bonus in the hotel is there is off street parking, although they do charge for it, but as parking is otherwise very difficult in Oxford, this is a great convenience if you have a car. The staff are very professional and friendly, giving each guest full attention. We would stay here again.

Spent one night at hotel. Lovely location next to river and just outside Oxford. Mixture of old and brand new buildings. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Food is good but not fine dinning. Would stay again if the deal was right.

Problem with boiler so was booked into White House immediately down the street with upgraded room. Lovely staff waiting for me and drive me to new location, and all good. I think White House inn a better facility but riding guest house for just sleeping over night in expensive Oxford is more than OK. I will be back. Lovely family.

Nice place, staff were really friendly and accommodating. There is limited parking available. Just need to contact to make sure it’s not full when booking. Nicely redecorated rooms. Easy in to Oxford by bus. Definitely recommend.

I had to stay in Oxford to attend classes for 4 separate weeks in 2015. The cost of hotels in Oxford is high but there's very little value. I was very happy to find the Victoria House. It's fantastic value for money, clean and neat (though the bed cover could use a wash) with lovely new bathrooms and carpet. I simply needed somewhere comfortable, warm and clean that was within walking distance of school (Said) and didn't cost the earth. I certainly got it with the Victoria House, it fit my requirements perfectly! It's the only place I stayed in twice (would have been three times expect they were booked up).

We arrived early at the Conifers but this was no problem as we were able to check in at once. I was travelling with my sister and we were given the option of a small twin bed room or a larger room which had two king singles bolted together but we opted for the smaller room and this was fine. We had tea and coffee making facilities plus a nice hot shower. The room was not big nor was the bathroom but this is really not an issue. The Manageress was most helpful and advised us about where we could catch the bus into the city and the stop was only about 200metres from the House. Buses running about every 20 minutes. Very convenient. The breakfast had many options and we had no trouble with any selection we made. We were able to take a 15 minute walk up to Old London Road where we found several restaurants for our evening meals and one particularly good, the name of which unfortunately I cannot recall. On the opposite side of the road to the left about 150 metres.

There was a conference in Oxford when I was visiting, most of the hotel in the city centre jack up their price. Ali Inn which is in the same area was the cheapest accommodation available. Their location was SUPERB. Friendly and helpful staff, spacious room, clean and well maintained. Bathroom was also not too small, hot water working fine. Would definitely recommend and come again whenever I'm in Oxford!

I had a great experience at the Blackboy pub and hotel. The room was large, clean and filled with all the things that made it not disimilar to a studio apartment. My personal preference is for a firmer bed but that wasnt an issue after travelling for 24 hours! The vegetarian version of the English breakfast was fantastic, and so was the freshly pressed coffee. The staff were so friendly and attentive - they gave such good advice about travelling within Oxford especially when the weather was a bit extreme due to storm Emma. The experience was more cozy with a (gas) fireplace going throughout the frosty weather. There was a little hiccup though - I had paid for my stay in full with Agoda but was handed the bill at the end of my stay. I really do not blame the establishment as they were genuinely surprised. Had to show them my email and receipt. Agoda needs to work a bit harder with the communication. Otherwise, no hesitation in repeating the stay or recommending to anyone. Good value.

Priced relatively high for a small room. Not as spacious for us to fit our luggages. Bathroom is pretty small too, water temperature fluctuates from time to time hence makes it hard to adjust the ideal temperature for showering.

I had a single room in the attic with a skylight and a shared bathroom. The room was not fancy but it was functional and the service, especially the breakfast, was great for the price. I’d stay again if needing accommodation in north oxford!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast with good varieties. Mom stop refill fresh coffee that is amazing.

Noa Residence was absolutely perfect for my week-long stay due to my new job here (need to relocate to Oxford in the long term). I really appreciated having a kitchen (including stove and microwave!) and pots/pans, utensils, etc. so that I could save money (and eat more healthy!) by cooking all my own meals. The value for money couldn't be better - there are multiple busses that stop a 20-sec walk outside the property that take you straight into town, and there is a Co-op, Sainsbury, and Tesco all within walking distance to stock up. Anyone who needs a convenient place to stay and wants to make their own meals couldn't find a better place in Oxford!

When we arrived at the place, the staff in charged started off friendly and introduced us to our rooms, but things went downslope when we noticed a big yellow patch on the bedsheet afterwards and asked him to come back... The staff then insisted that the yellow patch was created by us as he claimed to have changed the bedsheet before we arrived. Very disappointed but we were all too tired to argue, hence proceeded to turn in. When we wanted to boil some water, the kettle was full of mould and white fungus in it... we brought the kettle out for an exchange, the staff gave us another kettle which was also full of mould and white fungus. I will be sending these photos to Agoda for reference. Just very disappointed with the service overall, thankfully it was only for a night. Worst experience we ever had in UK.

We stayed here for 2 nights in December to visit Oxford and surrounding area. We were given a complimentary upgrade to an executive room on the 4th flor which had a larger TV and an ironing board to use. We used the park and ride to travel into Oxford as this facility is only a few minutes walk away. We left our car at the hotel car park and walked to the park and ride. The breakfast had plenty of choice of cereal, fruit, bread and the usual sausage, egg beans buffet style. Helpful, polite staff. We will use again if in the area.

The location in Oxford is really good, you're essentially a hop, skip and a jump away from most of the sights and places to be (for example it is less than 5 minutes walk from the bus station - which makes it a great choice if you are coming in from London on the Oxford Tube bus). I would certainly stay here again.

It is easy to find the apartment, located in residential area, not aware any shop or restaurant nearby. The rooms are so far so good, but two things which made me felt uncomfortable. First the rubbish bin outside the apartment were overflow when I arrived, some flies flew inside the apartment, which made me and my family felt annoying. Second the floor of the kitchen was not clean enough, I felt the floor was sticky even with my slippers.

The owners were most pleasant and accomodating to our needs. we felt most welcomed.Thank you for a most memorable stay.

This is a boutique hotel and there is a little too much emphasis on stylishness rather than comfort or practicality. There are fancy plumbing fixtures (rectangular toilet seats!) but the desk chair blocked the bathroom door, and I could not use the desk space easily because a TV box had been wired in to take up much of the middle of the desk. There was nowhere to set down your shampoo in the shower. There was little flat space on which to put your toiletries in the bathroom. There was no foldable luggage rack to put my suitcase on. Having said that, the bed was comfortable, there was a refrigerator and (hidden) microwave, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was quiet and not too far from central Oxford (about ten minutes' walk). It's a reasonable place with some minor drawbacks.
