"We tried several hotels in Padang as well as in Bukittinnggi. After experiencing these hotels, we came to the conclusion that Grand Inna Muara is the best hotel in Padang. These are the reasons - surprisingly it offered the lowest price inclusive of breakfast than its competitors; friendly receptions, concierge available to help you with the luggage, very spacious lobby, really big dining hall, nice and acceptable room condition, location is perfect just cross the road you will see the 2009 Earthquake Monument dedicated to those who had perished, next to it is a vast area of Padang Minangkabau Heritage Palace. You can walk to the Muara and see the many boats and cruise ships and the many priceless Dutch heritage residentials left unattended. Plenty of places to eat. Parking is easy. There is a good feeling of space and not feel congested. We enjoyed it very much and we have made a decision should we comes back to Padang, it will be the hotel we are going to stay."

Mercure Padang Hotel

"Stayed for 2 nights at Padang for business meetings. This was my first time go to Padang, quite disappointed with the "tourist hunter" at the airport that offers you to transport from the airport to the city (took around 45mins trip from airport to city) they're totally annoying and giving unpleasant glare. Then I made a call to Mercure hotel for pick-up, in less than 10 mins, their stand-by driver at the airport pick me up for transport to hotel, the driver is very kind and friendly. For fellow travelers who are have never visit padang before or got no one to pick you up, I really recommend Mercure Padang, fast check-in and check-up. Mercure makes you feel secure and less worried about being scammed by those "tourist hunters" at the airport. They have convinience store near the lobby, so it was easy to buy snacks, beers, or drinks. Oh yeah, they always have BlueBird Taxi ready for transports (One of the best and reliable taxi company in Indonesia). I will surely stay at Mercure for my upcoming business meetings in Padang. 4 thumbs up! "

Amaris Hotel Padang
Padang Barat,Padang - View on map
"This is a new hotel, one of the main reasons I'm giving it a try against the recommendation of a local. The room is ok and new (of course), but a number of things are not to my liking. 1) The flooring within the room and outside at the aisle on each floor. As it is tiled with no carpet, it is the worse combination when patrons wear its provided in-house slippers. Every now and then, you can here the dragging sounds of slippers when there's someone walking outside. 2) There's no electronic doorbell but a kind of a pendulum hanging at the door. This cause it to knock and sound every time the door is open/close. Also, the closing of the door is very loud, especially a nuisance at night. 3) There's no shower curtain. While showering itself was good, the consequence is a partly wet restroom overflowing to the toilet bowl area. 4) The lobby is a little messy especially during the breakfast as the lounge is right beside the check in/out counter. And the direction of the hotel facing close to east means that if you are waiting for pickup at the lobby in the morning, you are faced with frontal sunlight directly since the lobby is glass protected ... again without curtains. 5) I asked for laundry bag, but was told it is "sold off". Didn't know we need to actually purchase a laundry bag?? 6) Breakfast variety not much, there's only about 5 or 6 food trays/bins for main course, and this includes one for rice and another for mee/noodles. 7) Hotel aisles are not air-conditioned, and it becomes stuffy in the afternoon. Now, these are not so much of a complaint, but in general a feedback. I rated the hotel fairly well. However, why do I have so much feedback? Simply because I had tried another hotel at Padang right before I checked in to Amaris Padang. Perhaps, Amaris would be better run over the months since they are still in its infancy just after opening for a month or so."

ibis Padang Hotel

"Good budget hotel in Padang. Room is very good. It is spacious enough for a budget hotel, and quite comfortable. Swimming pool is quite small, and location is quite outside the hotel, but it is one of few place that got a pool on the hotel. Breakfast is not complete and not very good. Staff is quite friendly, but does not show exceptional service level. It is still good though. Location is good."

Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang

"This is very good mid-level Padang hotel, with style, great location, comfy rooms and very friendly staff. But there are the usual issues with facilities and maintenance. The electric points and switches need renewing. The internet connection comes on and off all the time. But the biggest problem is the AC. It cuts off when you are not in the room so the room is hot when you enter. Then it gets rather cold. The system is very difficult and almost impossible to control and adjust. It need to be replaced or updated. I caught a bad cold the last two times I stayed here. Now this is my favourite place to stay in Padang but I can't keep risking a cold from working in the room."

Grand Zuri Padang Hotel
Padang Barat,Padang - View on map
"I have stayed at a number of hotels in Padang while traveling for business. Grand Zuri has by far been the best value for money - lovely breakfast buffet with options both Indonesian and Western, a gym with more than adequate facilities (treadmill and weights), and very clean room and common areas. I will definitely come back to Grand Zuri when I am in Padang again. Only complaint... the AC was not quite as strong as I would like it to be in the room."

Hotel Padang

"Neae to everything in Padang, from outside look like a small hotel , but go inside planty of rooms at the back . Peaceful and nice environment inside. Spacious room, nice good size bathroom for the price that I paid . The only letdown is the breakfast, too simple , taste ok but not great. But in gourmet city like Padang, you can just take gojek or hop in Grabcar/Taxi to explore other nice breakfast outlet scattered around the city, for those who dare , roadside stall is a galore of taste to be explored. More about Padang

The city of Padang is the capital of Indonesia’s West Sumatra Province, and a popular destination among surfers because of its proximity to some of Indonesia’s most visited surf sites. The city is served by Minangkabau International Airport, which is about 25 kilometers outside of the city center but easily accessible by taxi or rental car.

Once in the city, visitors will find many attractions to keep them busy and entertained such as the stunning coastline and beaches that surround the city. Places such as Carocok Beach is a popular destination for vacation-goers looking for the leisurely activities of watching the waves while walking along the coast, or enjoying the famous Padang cuisine at authentic beach-front restaurants.

The site of the Malin Kundang Rock is a popular destination for visitors to this area. Local legend says that the rock formation found at Air Manis Beach is that of a man who offended his mother, whose curse turned the man and his ship into rocks. People often walk around this beach and the stone formations while enjoying the views of the beautiful islands just beyond the clear blue waters.
