"A beautifully designed glass, wood, concrete style minimal hotel with great views out of huge picture windows from your bed. All very new when I visited so still "finding its feet" but as a regular visitor to Phetchabun will make this my hotel of choice"

"Pros — Big room, 3 m from foot of bed to wall. Small balcony w kitchen sink Soap and shampoo dispensers in shower avoid plastic waste from small bottles. Wood pattern tile floors. Very quiet neighborhood. Eating options nearby. Best w own transport. Shaded parking available. Cons — Continental breakfast has cheapest possible bread, jams, coffee. No soap at sink. Small inconvenience to reach shower soap container from sink. Potential for noise if inconsiderate guests in hall, but did not experience any. Information in room only in Thai. "

SR Residence Hotel

"Sitting out in the pool/bar area is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. They have good food, and an amazing selection of craft beers. The backdrop of the hills and rice fields is stunning. Our deluxe room was very nice. No complaints, except for the fake apples and oranges sitting on the table with the breakfast buffett. I would get rid of those for sure. Very nice place though. I will stay there again for sure, as my girlfriend has family in Phetchabun."

"Though located on a lovely hill with green views, all rooms and even restaurant have walls built blocking all views and face the road. It could be ok for 1 night just to sleep over and forget but when we entered the room we were shocked by the terrible mold smell. The room was dark and unattractive. We had to find another bungalow nearby which turned out to be twice cheaper, much better located and had lovely sunrise views. My recommendation is to not book any rooms online in that area, come, see and book when you are there. Many private properties are much cheaper and nicer."

Traveler impressions of Phetchabun

More about Phetchabun

Located among the forested mountains of northern Thailand, Phetchabun is a truly a hidden gem. Although not many tourists make their way to Phetchabun, it’s a place worth seeing if not for the breathtaking natural beauty, then for the historic buildings and stunning temples that stand overlooking the mountains, national parks, and the Pa Sak River.

From Bangkok’s Morchit bus terminal, it’s easy to find many buses with service to Phetchabun, especially as this town is a popular stopover on the way to Lom Sak. Once in town, getting around is best done either by motorcycle taxis or renting a car in a bigger town, especially if planning to explore as much of the city’s attractions as possible.

Wat Phra Sorn Kaew, one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand, is located in Phetchabun. This stunning temple is located on a hill, overlooking the surrounding mountains and spectacular natural beauty. The temple is the original home of the Emerald Buddha, which is now located in Bangkok. Even without that iconic statue which gives the temple its name, this is one of the most richly decorated and visually stunning temples in the country and very much a must-see for anyone visiting this part of town.

Just over a hundred kilometers outside of Phetchabun town is the Sithep Historical Park, which houses the ruins of an ancient city from the Dvaravati Era of many centuries ago. After the 11th century, the Khmer influence added to the Hindu-style temples and statues. Now, the large park is a haunting reminder of the many cultures that have been present in Thailand, and the fact that this historical site has remained for all these centuries is in itself a miracle. Certainly do not miss a chance to see this spectacular place.

There’s a lot more to see and do in Phetchabun, and the best way to discover what else this city has to offer in terms of attractions, landmarks, and hotels is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
