"We stopped in Phitsanulok on our way from Chiang Mai to Laos. We chose the hotel for it's large pool so our kids could swim and for the price. It was supposed to be just a quick stop over, but we had car trouble. After we checked out we were still waiting around in the lobby for the car to be done. Not only did the staff not mind, once they began talking to us about our situation they offered us a free buffet lunch. Although the hotel is older and looks a bit "past it's prime," I think it is great for the price and also very clean. The pool size was great and our kids loved it. The workout room seemed really nice. The breakfast buffet had lots of options, western and Thai. The lunch buffet was huge and very good, but was basically all Thai food."

"Reasonably central location. Rooms fine but tight when you have an extra bed as we did. Staff friendly. Breakfasts a little limited but not a disaster. Phitsanulok was found to have very limited tourist attractions. Pretty well all are Thai temples (Wats). Good restaurants but not easy to find. I would recommend the hotel but not the town. "

"business and family reasons for our family visit. i have stayed at another phitsanulok hotel for nearly 20 years and thought i would try a new place as i had seen this impressive hotel seversl times before. i had constant visitors during our nearly three week stayand each one was made very welcome and made to feel special. one drawback is that our deluxe room was near the lift which ding dongs and kept us awake... when i mentioned this the manager namfong changed our room to a very quiet location further down the corridor. all in all a great place to stay with a perfect view of the city bridge and the river. will stay again without question as the staff are our friends now."

"This hotel is so well run with amazing staff and an excellent manageress. Everything was perfect. The breakfasts were lovely as well with a great selection and delicious coffee. They were so quick and eager to help us with our luggage from our car and even had someone keep an eye on the cars at night in the large parking lot. If you travel to Phitsanulok I recommend you stay here"

Yodia Heritage Hotel

"I stayed in this hotel on two separate nights en-route between Chiangmai and Nakhon Phanom. I have tried before to find a pleasant hotel in Phitsanulok but to no avail. Wonderful that I now have this choice when I make this regular trip. On the banks of the river Nan, close to Wat Pra Si Rattana Mahathat (aka. Wat Yai), it has just 21 rooms, 2 suites and 2 connecting rooms. Modern and stylish yet retaining a Thai feel. It has all the conveniences of a five star hotel but with an air of intimacy and privacy. The Amore restaurant, where I had breakfast on both occasions and dinner on one, was faultless. An excellent choice of authentic Italian and Thai food; presentation, taste and service were impeccable. My only wish is that there were more hotels of this type and standard for road trips as they provide such a welcome rest during long journeys."

"This is first time to try this hotel and it is good for sleeping to take rest if you were traveling around Thailand or just quick visit for this area. The bed is stiff but not too much comfy. Restroom is good but the shower not covered with curtains or a glass to keep water away from wetting the floor. However, breakfast is very simple eggs, sausage with toasts... "

Traveler impressions of Phitsanulok

More about Phitsanulok

Phitsanulok is an ancient city on Thailand's Nan River, with a history that dates back to more than 600 years. Because of its location halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the city is popular among road travelers.

Phitsanulok has played an important role in the history of Thailand. During the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya eras, Phitsanulok was a powerful and prosperous city. Today, this sleepy city is mainly a base for the Royal Thai Army. Although Phitsanulok isn’t as popular as Thailand’s other tourist favorites, hotels in the city include luxury resorts and spas as well as contemporary business class hotels.

Phitsanulok's most famous temple is Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, an intricately decorated temple housing a 700-year-old gold sculpture of Buddha.

Life in Phitsanulok is very much centered around the river Nan, and one of the biggest annual events is a dragon boat race which takes place in October. Houseboats are a unique and interesting feature of life in Phitsanulok, and the Houseboat Museum at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat is a must-see for visitors.

Phitsanulok is accessible via rail, road or air. Flights from Bangkok take less than an hour and arrive at Phitsanulok Airport.
