Had the best time in pondicherry in thid hotel. Just food needs to be improved. Very expensive food but not that great taste

An extremely pleasant stay at this beautiful hotel located right on the Pondicherry beach next to an ancient Lighthouse. The staff was overtly-friendly and extremely helpful. The buffet-breakfast had a wide variety of good, fresh foods along with a range of with oven-fresh breads, fresh-fruit juices and a warm-smiling staff to help you start the day with a great mood. My room, along side the old Lighthouse, was sunny and very comfortable. The only sore point was the 'massage' service offered. It was more of a 'rubbing-oil' experience that was way, way-off anything that can be even remotely defined as a 'massage'.

After reviewing lots of hotels in Pondicherry I found very positive reviews for this hotel. I was traveling with infant of 8 months old along with family members, so I wanted to make sure hotel should provide basic facility for infant. After staying for 3 days , I can say this is one of the best hotel in Pondicherry in many ways. It’s in prime location so everything is nearby. Hotel has nice restaurant and serves nice breakfast. Rooms are near and clean. Staff members are always available to help your. Service is very prompt. What I didn’t like is they charged quite high for infant milk which 260rs for a ltr milk. Which is too high, however rest all is excellent.

I was previously booked in another place but agoda missed sending confirmation to the hotel. This is something agoda has to fix as this has happened twice. But they were able to book me in Palais de MAhe which is also a very good option. The location is simply the best (only 50 m from the ocean front) and it is an excellent heritage property with all the facilities. Rooms are very clean with all the amneties. The rooftop restaurant is really nice place to have your meals. All the nice restaurants are nearby. There is also a nice pool though i did not use it. THis is probably one of the best options to stay in Pondicherry if you want to get the french quarter experience.

When it was built it was a very modern resort. While is is being kept clean signs of aging may be seen. Still perfect if you want to get away and hide from street noise, pesky vendors and just relax. It is fairly far from Puducherry so you probably will stay within the perimeter of the resort and food is only what restaurant will offer. Food is good though so as long as you OK paying 500 rupees for a main course - you will not be disappointed. Beach is also just 5 minutes away but if you thinking of swimming - go further from parked boats. Fishermen use the the beach as toilet. Given that resort is in India - I understand five star rating..

We spent a weekend at Pondicherry and this was quite a treasure find. Located in the heart of Pondicherry, very close to the beach, shopping areas and restaurants, we could walk around everywhere without having to worry about transport. The hotel let us have an early check in and even offered a late checkout. We found this very thoughtful as we haven't seen such warm hospitality in the past. On the down side, the tarif is a bit steep if you plan to explore the town and just spend the night at the hotel. Rooms are kindof basic for the amount they charge. But overall, a good place to stay at. Would deffinately recommend it to friends!

First of all Agoda app is new to me! I booked Atithi at the last minute and Agoda gave me good discounts too! I stayed for 2 days, the room that I booked was executive one! I must tell you the room was very spacious and neat. I was super comfortable that I felt like home 🏠 Room service was to the point. Highlights: morning buffet was absolutely the stealer of the show! Loved the wide spread of both English and South India styles and it was totally yum 😋 we ate so much that we didn’t have space for lunch 😅 Rooftop pool 🏊‍♀️ was too good, liked the way it’s being maintained and the spa was good too! We were offered 20% discount since we stayed at the place. Rooftop restaurant had good BBQ 🍖 The hotel is very secured as such and we didn’t have as strangers to the place. I will 200% recommend this place to all. If at all I come to Pondicherry, this hotel will be my take! Thank you Atithi for the beautiful hospitality ❤️ lots of love to you guys! Excellent location, literally on the beach and sea view rooms have sea always in front of you. Courteous staff, were trying to do their best to take care of every complaint. This could be very nice resort had the management try to maintain this property. On arrival I thought I would write a very negative review and it’s only because of location and the property that we enjoyed our time be with the sea so near. Cleanliness is terrible, right from stained towels, dirty chairs, rusty fridge, rusty bathroom fittings. Thank god bed was ok (though we had to get pillow cover changed) ....but staff was patiently trying to change and get what best available. Breakfast is disappointing as no live counter , u can’t even order a dosa or omelette , no cut fruits.....food taste was fine....ala carte dinner was ok. So if want a sea view great place provided u are ok with above issues. Overall w group of friends with small kids had a good time and had overlooked the above issues by the next day.

The rooms are very clean and well maintained. Food here is also very good, though we were vegetarians, the food we ordered tasted very good. Can improve options for vegetarian food. Overall a very good hotel compared to other hotels in pondicherry.

If you're looking for a resort close to the beach, here it is. Not private beach but a less crowded one on the up north of Pondicherry. Offer a good view of beach from the balcony. Restaurant is not so great but okay with some basic dishes.

Due to the tax structure of TN govt, the resort is very pricey but the resort itself is very beautiful and maintained well. It is always spotlessly clean and the staff if very friendly. The restaurant also serves good and tasty organic food. It would help if they serve faster because they start the preparation after you place the order - if you are in a hurry, then it would not help but if you want to just relax, it is good. Location is far off from Pondicherry and so it will be expensive to commute if you want to see Pondicherry town. But overall, our family had a wonderful time at the resort - highly recommend it to travelers who want to chill out and relax.

It's a great property with a retro style and spacious and beautiful room and decor. The swimming pool in the property is very well maintained and build in such a way that even in the peak summer heat you get shade in almost half of pool. The hotel serves excellent complimentary breakfast and friendly staff. The location of the property is pretty far from Pondicherry town but if you are coming by your own vehicle it shouldn't matter much. All is all an excellent option to have fun.

This hotel is absolutely magnificent! I was in India from NYC for business and went here as a weekend getaway with nice colleagues. This is without doubt THE BEST HOTEL IN PONDICHERRY. The staff were so helpful and pleasant, and the rooms were magnificent. The building was the Governor's Mansion form the 1700's until the 1950's and is infused with incredible history. It has been beautifully restored. I wish there were more information on the restoration and history prominently displayed, but if you ask for some literature or look at the back of the menu's there is a pretty good write up on it all. The food was superb! The location is perfect - right in the heart of the old beautiful french colonial quarter which is exactly where you want to be. We all left feeling we had an incredible stay and that the quality and beauty of the hotel was far and above what we paid. My only complaint is that one evening were seated by the waitress for dinner but then told that our table had actually been reserved and we had to go elsewhere. We all understand how a mixup like that can happen, but the restaurant manager was initially pretty unsympathetic to the fact that we had been sitting for 10 minutes, and were hotel guests. Eventually he pieced a new table together for us and all was fine but he could have handled it a little better. Anyway this place is simply magnificent. I cannot recommend it enough and If I ever returned here I would stay here again. All the staff must be commended on creating a lovely hotel!

My friend and I arrived early in the morning before the 12 PM check-in check time and needed a place to do our yoga practices. The manager was very kind to let us use the suite room while they getting our standard room ready. However, at the end, they upgraded us to this suite room. Breakfast was very good with fruit cuts, cereals, juices, coffee & tea, and South Indian breakfast. Great location with 5 mins walk to the beach. Close to many restaurants and rickshaws. Though, one thing to mention is that air is not circulating well inside the room as this is an old building. But, by turning on the air conditioner and fan would help with this issue. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who are visiting Pondicherry.

This was a great short stay in a welcoming excellently located Chateau. Literally just round the corner from the Promenade and a short walk from many key streets in Pondicherry that are worth visiting for the sites, restaurants and shopping adventures. The Chateau is exactly that, ie not a large spacious hotel with huge rooms and facilities so dont book expecting a 5 star hotel, as long as you have correct expectations Im sure you will have a pleasant stay. The staff are polite, accommodating and will go out of their way to help you if needed. All in all a good experience for me and the family. Thanks.

great property with lot of activities to do. only negative thing is the location is little far from the city and you might have to pay around rs 400 by taxi to reach here from pondicherry. but inside the resort its all fun and also the private beach is good too.

Affordable, functional, with a lovely roof-top restaurant, excellent food, and a very comfortable bed, in a location two blocks from the beach, Hotel Krish Villa met all our requirements for our four-night stay in Pondicherry. The staff were friendly and once we adjusted to the heritage aspects of the room, we liked it very well. This is not luxurious, but for the money could not be better. Do allow plenty of time for dinner, and arrive fairly early because it isn't large and it seems to be very popular.

This is a large french style villa converted to a modern boutique hotel. We stayed in the "North Side Story" room which is situated on the first floor next to the well maintained pool. The room was well maintained and we had our own balcony which had a lot of creeper plants handing from the top along with some other plants and small palm trees inside. The balcony has three glass walls and it separates the bedroom from the living room. Bathroom was very equipped with premium fittings (no tub) and it was spacious. All the wooden windows were having the upper half glass, so that you could open them to see the outside without letting the heat in. Air conditioning was also on point, with one each for the living room and the bed room. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They were very helpful and took care of everything promptly. The garden restaurant was beautiful to have their complimentary french breakfast and the mini bar was free! I have to also mention the location. The main beach is within walking distance and so are a lot of good restaurants and eateries. They even provide you with bicycles if you want to go around in the morning/evening. Some possible improvements: 1. Living room furniture is not very comfortable. The chairs are not suitable for sitting through a movie (TV can only be seen from the living area). A couch or sofa would be much better 2. Breakfast menu is great but it is the same every day. You could get bored if you have it for more than 2 days. 3. The balcony sliding doors bring in a lot of outside noise in(honking, dogs barking etc). Not a big issue since pondicherry is not too noisy Overall, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

Pleasant stay, comfortable room, unique property in central location in Pondicherry. Very helpful & pleasant staff, would have no hesitation recommending.

We went there for the weekend of Aug 15, 2016. The place is a decent one to spend a weekend in Pondicherry. The rooms were really nice with sufficient space. It was clean and hygienic. The pool area was also good (note I am a non swimmer). They have other facilities like gym and spa, though we didn't try any of them. They are located at a good place from where everything is approachable. They still need to work on their breakfast spread menu and other facilities. Breakfast was fairly limited, both in terms of number of items and taste. Plus, they seemed to have availability issues with towels. If they can work on these things in the near term, it would improve the guest experience significantly. For now, a 7 on 10 seems an apt rating.

the richmond, pondicherry is a great place for someone to spend time in pondy. its elegant interiors makes you forget about the chaos in the city of pondy. the hotel is 2 mins away from the seashore but a beach view would have added to its beauty. there was a power outage at late night but the staff dealt with it in a professional manner. the complementary breakfast comprised of various cuisines ranging from french to south indian. great hotel and i totally recommend it.

We would like to thank all members of the staff, especially the manager, who went beyond his duty to help us while we were staying at the Chabrol. We purchased spectacles from Specsmakers, who failed to deliver on time and Mr Janakiram spent a long time on the phone with the retailer, to pressurise them to deliver our spectacles to the hotel. The food is good and freshly prepared, but you need to order early, if you need your meals on time. The hotel also arranged cab for us to reach our next destination. Overall, we had a pleasant and enjoyable stay at the Chabrol and will return again if we return to Pondicherry

the accord pondicherry-labeled as the accord puducherry on the giant letters that cover the building is hard to miss. every tuk tuk driver will know where this place is. you will have to take the tuk tuk to enjoy the beach activities and tourist shops. each tuk tuk ride will cost about 100 rupees. the amenities make staying at this place well worthwhile-almost no one uses the pool and steam room so you will enjoy privacy. the rooms are clean with western standards for bathroom and bed. you may have trouble connecting to the wireless internet but there is a supplied ethernet cable which will give you speeds approaching internet in the western world. around the hotel, there are shops and restaurants that are more suited to the local population. eating in local restaurants will bring you local prices. the only minus is spending 200 to 400 rupees a day riding the tuk tuk to the beach. if you factor this into the cost between staying at a nice hotel on the beach, you will still come out ahead financially. i would stay here again.

Arrived at 5.00 from sleeper bus, left bags and returned at 13.00 for room. Similarly helpful on checkout, left bags in reception till ready to leave Pondicherry. A very clean town but not a cheap stay...very tourist based economy reflected in overall cost of meals etc. Good to walk around early morning and evening time.

Pros - Big well maintained, beautiful property with a swimming pool. Far from the hustle bustle of the city. Very close to a secluded part of Paradise beach(which is not at all crowded, feels like a private beach). The staff is very courteous. Rooms are big and clean(very hygienic). They give you sufficient number of towels and toiletteries. They serve only breakfast(cut fruits, juice , choice of eggs, bread, jam, butter) in the resort. Stay Tips:- The property is slightly secluded so you will have DEFINITELY need to hire a scooty for your stay. Scooters are easily available at Mission Street for 200-250/day. Lily pool does not serve any meal apart from breakfast, so plan your meals outside. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILY OR COUPLES.

The Hotel is located in the entrance of Pondicherry when reaching from East Coast Road. Though the hotel is recently developed, the entire staff team seems to be very experienced and well trained. The hotel cost is very low in view of the Brand of the hotel. As we went just a couple of days after a powerful cyclonic attack, the external properties of the hotel were seen heavily damaged, however there is no lack in the performance.

The look and feel of the hotel is pretty great. It is pretty much a restored old French villa which is maintained exceptionally well. The rooms have a touch of colonial French feel to it. The hotel is right on the main beach in Pondy and located at an ideal place for a stroll out on the beach or a walk along the streets of the heritage town. Stay was quite comfortable and the staff were good enough. Would definitely recommend this place.

This hotel was situated only 10 minutes walk away from the promenade. The staff very courteous , helpful and friendly. The rooms were very spacious, and kept clean. There was constant hot water, the a/c and ceiling fans worked well, as did the wifi. Limited evening menus but it was good well and tasted good. Breakfast was either Indian or Continental. This include croissants as we were in the French town of Pondicherry. A good experience and a hotel I would recommend

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sumith Palace. The staff were wonderful and accommodating. My husband was ill and they allowed me to use the kitchen to cook special food for him. Lakshmi on reception recommended a nearby doctor for my husband to visit and was very solicitous of his well being. The room was modern, clean and spacious. We look forward to returning as we didn't get a chance to see much of Pondicherry this time.

We traveled for 5 nights in India - 3 nights in Chennai, 1 night in Pondicherry & 1 night in Vellankani. After staying at Annamala Hotel Pondicherry, we wished we could spend all our 5 nights here. The rate is very affordable and superb hotel. But the restaurant (Renaissance Room) staff/crew is very unfriendly and full of ego. We did not like dealing with them. They always with an angry face when providing F & B service! The doorman who worked the DAY shift 8am-8pm is our best person in this hotel. Always smiling and always cheerful. He should be rewarded.
