"Located right on the rivers edge and within walking distance of all the great restaurants Unfortunately the hotel did not have the room available that we had booked ( due to a water leak ) but managed to find us alternative rooms Staff were friendly and helpful Not quite sure of it should still be rated a 4 * - but still excellent value. Wifi was temperamental at best!"

"This hotel is the best around Port Alfred. However, the only challenge was transportation around the area. R50 is the std price around the area. Airport trans was R800. Transport is monopolized. We’ve spent a fortune. Initially we booked for a room with a shower. Later we send several requests for the one with a bathtub. Upon arrival we were charged additional R1200 for an upgrade. The hotel failed to respond to all our enquiries. Their communicatio was vital because we could have planned differently. Also, they need to be flexible with early check ins and breakfast rules. In overall, the management was able resolve all our issues. The rooms are clean and very classy. We didn’t want to get out of bed. Champagne breakfast was all. Any meal that we had was scrumptious. We enjoyed our evenings sitting next to a cosy fireplace while sipping wine. We were spoilt with daily complimentary Amarula and biscuits. The staff was friendly, respectful and responsive. "

"The hotel room was large, clean and opened up onto the river. Very nice view. Had a quick breakfast the next morning and cant really comment. The negatives were that the gym is closed down - the hotel should remove this of their site as it was one of the reasons why I booked. Also WIFI is an added extra (in this day and age). Length paperwork to be completed on check-in (Why? When you already have all my details via the booking site)"

"Excellent location for some peaceful days and nights away from the rat race The only noise comes from the wild life - birds, mainly. The Eagle's Nest has no electricity and neither the Eagle's Nest nor the lodge have WiFi. TV channels haven't been paid for, either, so take a book for the evenings. The swimming pool filter/pump was broken and the pool quickly filled with leaves blown in from the bush. (It was quite stormy whilst we were there.) Peacocks abound and roost outside the lodge doors so there are flies attracted to the bird droppings. But the lodge interior is spacious, comfortable and clean with a fully equipped kitchen. All in all a very enjoyable few days."
