A truly fantastic place where you can share both the hsitoric parts particularly the German Quarters and splendid views, great shopping and again where you can pick up some excellent bargains in the local markets and practise your bargaining skills.
High end designer stores, fantastic restaurants and visitng the Olympic Sailing Centre is a must. Very friendly, safe easily accessible for the airport, great choice of hotels to suit all pockets.
QingDao is beautiful, it s well known internationally for their beer, and also for their scenery. Thinking that this place is all about the beer, i made a short tour around the city, sadly i do not have time for sightseeing.
I recommend coming to this place in spring or autumn to visit the mountain and maybe the beach. there are plenty of seafood in this area and is good to tour around.
the city is good and clean, however taxi is bad and shortage, they will ask higher fee for foreigner, it will be good to ask the hotel to arrange a car or rent a car at airport and drive yourself.
Very clean city with almost no air pollution. Nice historical sites and restored buildings. Pleasant walks along the shorelines and on the many hills and parks within the town.
Very scenic walks. Public transport is very chaotic and disorientated. Taxis are almost impossible to hire. Huge shopping area with night market but unfortunately rather high prices. Warning: GOOGLE Maps is not accessible in China, download maps for offline use before getting to China. GPS data are offset!
Very beautiful city center which suits all types of travelers, i was a solo explorer when I visited qingdao the first time, then for business and recently with family.
i feel that i can find everything i need in this city.
It is a great city with many small mountains areas. The houses built along the slopes which makes it such a good picture ! The old historic sites are great to see.
The city has so beautiful beaches as well. It is a pity that the air-pollution in the city is quite 'serious' as it is so hazy all the time despite it is a sunny day !
Generally easy to get around if you speak the language. Not much touting as there are little foreigners around, mainly Mainland Chinese tourists when I was there.
For a Chinese city, I must say the people are much more heartwarming and friendly. Definitely less hectic than their neighbouring Shanghai and Beijing. Cleaner too and less pollution. Beautiful place to relax.
As I lived in Jinan where is surrounded by mountain and noisy in Shandong,China, this city is so refreshing cause of beautiful scenery of the ocean and mountain.
City center has everything that now time of China has. People are nice. But difficult to find great tasty restaurant.
I always wanted to visit Qingdao as my 2003 trip got cancelled due to SARS. No one there speaks english so travel with Chinese friend or native level speaker.
It's crowded with "Chinses Tourists". They are rude, dirty and out of order. I really loved the place but really couldn't stand the people. It's China. It's province. And it's Chinese Tourist Spot. So let's not expect too much. May be after 10 years, when they clean up their act, I would like to visit again. I did really enjoy the place.
IF YOU HAVE A TIME, I WANT TO RECOMMEND YOU TO VISIT LAO MOUNTAIN! NOW, WE CAN NOT USE METRO BUT BUS SYSTEM IS GOOD, IF YOU CAN READ CHINESE LETTERS.
Qingdao is a nice, small Chinese city. By small, I mean around the size of Chicago. It is very affordable and there are plenty of things to see.
It may not have the same attractiveness as a big city like Shanghai or Beijing, but you will get more bang for your buck and they treat Westerners very good there!
An expensive City for the rich china residents. Everything is costly including food. Shopping very expensive compared to other part of China.
I like cities close to the sea and Qingdao is perfect for a day on the beach, walking around the city, shopping and having seafood.
Avoid during the major holiday the big attractions, Chinese visitors are everywhere and the crowd can be very noisy, better to go in early spring. The locals are quite relaxed and friendly, tourist are more noisy.
it's famous for beer and Mt Laosan. Quingdao beer is one of the best beer in the world and Mt. Laosan is good for hiking, 1320m.
some people tried to help me to find a way but they don't know english, so just with chineese letter with a hand. it was fun and so kind people.
Qingdao is a port city with good beaches but is very hot in summer Streets are not very clean , buses are many but taxi are bad
Very good public transport system. There are many places of interests. A bustling city which is rich in culture and history.
Buildings of historical significance are well preserved. A good place to visit.
Its a Clean and nice city with nil nightlife or entertainment facility or you cannot manage to reach due to language problem.
Qingdao is a beautifully city. It is rich historically and culturally. Very affordable and efficient public transport system.
No stress for first time travelers in terms of getting around the city area and various places of interest. Nice food can be found everywhere in the city.
it is a city which can cater to all your holiday needs. You can enjoy the beaches, the seaview and the mountain scenary.
The seafood is fresh and value for money. The beer is fresh and tasty. Public transport at CNY$1 per trip is very tourist friendly.
I spent half of my time in Huangdao, which I preferred. Qingdao was cheaper to stay and eat in but it was dirtier.
Sadly the inhabitants think the weather there is cloudy and foggy. Yet if you ask what it was like 10 years ago they will tell you it was not so foggy and cloudy and they had blue skies. They do not realise it is not clouds and fog. IT IS POLLUTION!!!! The time I spent there, which was last few days of June, 2014. The pollution measurement in Beijing and Shanghai was lower than Qingdao. Now that must tell you something. My friend asked me if I would live there in Qingdao. I had to answer with an emphatic and resounding "NO"! I really did like the city though, and hope the Chinese government does something about the pollution real soon. It's sad to see such a beautiful country falling on it's own industrial sword. Regardless, I love China, and I visit nearly every month for business and pleasure. I hope to live there soon, when it cleans up more of the "fog and clouds" Thankyou to the Chinese people
It would be helpful to be prepared to speak a little Chinese before going like, where is the toilet, take me to .
....for taxis. hello and thank you, etc.
Qingdao is a modern city. The Olymic sailing was held theremin 2008 and so the city was tidied up for the evnt.
It is a safe place to walk around and the bay walks are long and well constructed. Trip to airport is long so allow an wxtra half hour if leaving in morning or afternoon traffic
Qingdao is surrounded by sea. It a very nice and cooling place. It a must to visit the Qingdao Beer Factory.
It really amazing and should try the beer there. It totally different from what you can get from outside. QIngdao is surrounded by sea. Seafood there is very fresh. People there are very friendly too.
Nice upcoming Chinese town, nice and friendly people, nice fresh fish restaurants, nice beer, nice fresh air.
a beautiful city of china. very unlike beijing or other cities. the air is much fresher and building nicer
It's a lovely green city with nice beaches, seafood restaurants, the brewery and colonial architecture.
Vibrant city on the sea with plenty of seafood restaurants, but check the quality and freshness first.
Beaches are okay, not the best in the world, but good for a walk along the boardwalk at day or night, don't miss visit the Olympic sailing center and harbor.
