There's not a whole lot to do there if you go during a dry spell, which we did. We visited several waterfalls, pretty much nothing there and just a trickle coming down.
NOTHING, just a place where you come to sleep for a night, so you can catch the speed bpat or ferry n the early morning, to travel to your Island destination.
a very peaceful city 5 hours from Phuket. there's hot spring and mineral water which is very popular in Ranong
Ranong has grown so big now but still is a great city to visit. Hunt out some of the great Thai restaurants, there is a huge superb restaurant on Highway 4 going from the south just passing the town on the left, two together.
I was visit Koh Payam ranong which was nice trip. And also city tour, Rattanarangsan Palace & mineral hot spring.
Ranong is peaceful town, mix of nation, tasty food and beautiful nature. Good place for rest and nature lover.
I was in Ranong in June 2013. VERY WET! Literally rained the entire time. But I don't regret going. It's a more "small town" Thai experience and I'm so glad I got to witness that.
Not a come again town. Once you have done the town tour, it is similar to most other tahi townships.
If you dicide to venture out for dinner, take a detailed map. The roads look the same at night and you don't want to spend an hour lost in Ranong like we did.
Ranong is a great stop for people who drive from Bangkok to Phuket. It's about halfway in between. Spend a night in Ranong, dip in the hot spring is a perfect relaxation!
I do not know why, but Ranong became one of the favorite destinations in Thailand. There is something spiritual.
