San Andres Island hotels & places to stay

well located, comfortable, the door knob fell so our stuff was luck, we were able to fix it after a while. We had a two bedroom with a balcony to a view to some trees, not to the sea.

Smells so bad the whole hotel. Water are salty. Far from the center. I don't recommend it at all even with 10 $

I really enjoyed my stay there, and i can't say anything bad about my the hostel. The breakfast in the morning wasn't anything impressive, but for a hostel it was okay. They offer discounted prices for tours, so i saved a bunch of money by booking my tours with them.

We had a wonderful time at Villa Sunny Days. It is right across the street from the beach. While the beaches in San Andres town are more beautiful, these were much less crowded. At night, they were particularly nice. There aren't many restaurants in the area but enough that one can eat without having to go into San Andres town. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there is an area outside for relaxing if you don't want to go out.

We stayed here for one night during our layover to Providencia. The hotel is really close to the airport, you can walk there - That's great but it is also really really loud when airplanes land at the San Andres airport. The room itself was really spacious, well furnitured and really clean. And it was the first shower for us in Columbia with a good water pressure and hot water - Wohooo! There are two breakfast places within 5 minutes walking distance so that's great too. We had a great time!

this is a very special place for guests of discriminating tase to stay. this is like being in someones tropical home.

WOW, it was the best choice for us. The whole area of the object is very well maintained. There are plants everywhere, which makes the surroundings very climatic. Quiet neighborhood, great place for snorkelling. Food is very tasty, employees always smiling and helpful in every matter. I highly recommend.

The folks here were very pleasant and friendly. You need to get a taxi to town, and it's not the easiest to find. So a good option for a night before flying onwards as very close to the airport. They organised a taxi for us at 3am to get to the airport and came and knocked on our room to check we were awake - a thoughtful touch. Cheap and good wifi and aircon.

Our stay was fine overall and we were very pleased with the friendliness of the hotel staff. I believe the most useful piece of advice that I would give to potential guests is that they should be aware that the resort does not compare to other all-inclusive properties in other parts of the world and that San Andres does not offer the amenities that many package-holiday travellers are used to. I realize that it is not fair to compare one country to another in this regard if one knows what to expect. Some points that we found frustrating: the hotel staff is insistent on guests making dinner reservations at the hotel or its sister properties close-by, which we didn't like, as we like to be flexible in terms of time and what we wish to eat. Also, the drinks (apart from the beer)did not appeal: specifically, if you enjoy mixed drinks (e.g., rum and coke), you can expect it to be very flat as they use plastic the bottles that sit on the bar until fully consumed. Travellers should also be aware that San Andres does not have the modern conveniences that we take for granted ... toilet paper is not flushed, and goes into a bucket. Obviously this is beyond the hotel's control, but it was a bit of a surprise nonetheless. The island itself was beautiful and the day trip to Johnny Cay and El Acuario was fantastic, and we still would have stayed here despite the points I have mentioned. I just feel that the marketing of the property for package tour-operators may lead travellers down the garden path in terms of amenities and that San Andres' all-inclusives have not yet caught up with those of more established destinations. Still a decent experience though.

MAKE SURE TO BOOK AT PORTOBELO JR. IT WAS A LITTLE CONFUSING AS THERE ARE 3 HOTELS ,,,THE JR IS THE BEST ONE IF YOU CAN SECURE A BEACHFRONT UNIT WITH BALCONY,,,ENDED UP PAYING $25 MORE PER DAY BUT WELL WORTH IT

great service, clean rooms, cold showers. Location is the reason for the price, a 15min walk (doable or taxi) from the main beach, in local residential area-aka chickens, concrete houses, down a side road. Rent a high power golf cart to explore-areange thru the manager.

Miss Mazie did everything to Help. She helped us to rent bicycles which is not easy at the Island. It was OK to use the Kitchen and food facilities.

It is located cheek by jowl to other hotels and eateries. Yet has a nice atrium depicted in the management photo. Just a few paces from a narrow rocky beach with good views over the north end of the main town. Within 15 minutes walking distance of the harbor wherein one might embark one one of the many excursions to Johnny Key, Acuario, etc. The Wifi signal was quite poor and intermittent. The room was immaculate and of good standard with a minibar and ample space for walking about, with a three person sofa. I am sure that there are probably better situated and appointed hotels on San Andres Island, but have nothing bad to say about the property, especially the friendly Raizal staff. I was not able to determine the value for money ratio but my impression is that San Andres is considerably more expensive than the rest of Colombia save perhaps Old Town Cartagena. So despite the hit to my wallet (by far the most expensive stay during my 2 week stay in Colombia) it may be par for the course.

I was very pleasantly surprised with my posada , it is right on the top of the hill ( la Loma) in their native creole area. I felt very safe at all times, walked around to the attractions from their ( several right in the vicinity ) , walked to Centro ( about 4 kms ) and rode their buses often . King Cay beach is very close , a 10 minute hike. The posada was very clean, bed was comfortable with very good fans, I had the whole posada to myself , it is equipped like a condo. No need for security concerns for this area is very baptist and they look out for everyone . Internet is really weak here but who needs it anyways when you're on such a beautiful island . I will definitely return to this posada but next time I will stay much longer , perhaps 2 weeks .

I think it was brand new because they were still painting the hallways. The hotel was very nice but i think for 200 dollars per night i should be staying right on the beach. It was not a far walk to the beach though.

Thank you Hernan and Amita! We had the most enriching experience staying with you. I don't care if there is no hot water, that's the island. The air-conditioning worked great, the breakfasts were delicious. Hernan picked us up and dropped us off everyday. You get history and insider knowledge that you won't get at some resort. I wish so much success for their family. They know how to run a business and are such respectful and kind people. They know the right people to take you on tours. I would stay here again!

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They have WiFi here, they have filtered water for drinking in the kitchen. The rooms have WiFi, bed is comfy. Great place. Short walk to main beach. Note this place is pretty basic, so don’t expect anything extravagant.

Tracy and Daniel were gracious hosts on this beautiful property that is their labor of love. I truly felt honored to be their guest. Miraflores is on the west side of San Andres Island which is entirely made up of ancient coral (the east side has sandy beaches). Just across the street from the property was our favorite swimming hole on the island with calm water and beautiful fish. While there is plenty of recreation all over the island to keep you busy with transportation being easy and affordable, Miraflores has ample hammocks and beautiful landscaping that make doing nothing perfectly enjoyable. It was simply magical!
