Mahé Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
"Seychelles Islands are absolutely stunning but very expensive. We didn't realise but we had only booked breakfast (not half board) so that cost of eating at the hotel was quite high and because it is so far away from everything we only ate there. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, staff are great and fantastic facilities (go to the spa, its heaven!) - but for what you pay, I really did expect more. The room was nice, nothing spectacular but quite comfortable - two downsides - our ceiling fan didn't go faster than the lowest speed and the internet was fairly slow. From our back door we had lovely views of our pool area and the beach and a little island. Being able to walk out to the island was fun and the pool closest to our room had an amazing view of the beach, this was the best part. We paid 180 euros for transfers (approx 45 minute drive each way) which was outrageous but at least we had confirmed means of transport. Overall, without thinking about the money spent we had a BEAUTIFUL and relaxing stay at this resort."

Fisherman's Cove Resort

"Firstly, the location is this hotel is fantastic...waking up to the sound of the ocean cannot be beaten. The staff were very good and tried their best to make this a stay to remember. The hotel itself is fairly dated and definitely needs an upgrade. The AC in our room leaked the entire time even though the technical team claimed to have fixed it on a number of occasions. Honestly, the only off putting thing about hotel stays in the Seychelles is the ridiculous cost of food and drinks. Value for money is most certainly NOT what these island hotels are known for. "

Coco de Mer and Black Parrot Suites
Praslin Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
" As a 26 and 32 year old couple we are normally more budget, but wanted to treat ourselves. Great 1st impressions - on arrival we were greeted with mocktails, and our bags taken up to our room. The rooms are fantastic, large and spacious with a bathtub in the bedroom, and a balcony where you can have a morning coffee and be visited by the local birds. The lower level pool gets used by families, but next to the Waterfront spa there is a beautiful tranquil pool - sunset here is fantastic and you can watch fruit bats swooping. There was a balance of families and couples - a great place to go for a romantic break, to relax and also go on adventures. Owen at the front desk might just be the happiest man alive, and super helpful when we wanted to rent bikes and book a day trip to la Digue, answering every question we had. We cycled up the coast to the Black Pearl gallery and giant oyster farm - well worth a visit. The cycle took an hour along a beautiful route. The local Tata buses leave from outside the hotel, but are for the brave - very fast around the hilly roads (you get used to it eventually). The hotel arranges a free bus to Anse Lazio (leaves 9.30am, pick up 1pm), called the most beautiful beach in the Seychelles - it is great with clear waters, good for swimming and wave jumping. The food is delicious, and buffet breakfast includes a huge range of cooked and cold international foods. Highly recommend the buffet dinner on 'Creole' and 'International Taste' night (around £40 for all courses, well worth it). The a la carte restaurant does fantastic octopus curry (the secluded location and no buses after dark means eating at the hotel is the best option – there is a big variety of quality local and international food at reasonable prices). All staff were fantastic - friendly, enthusiastic, always happy to help. The staff and the beautiful surroundings helped make this the best holiday we have ever had, and we are very tempted to return in future. "

Savoy Resort and Spa
Mahé Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
"There is always a risk with staying in a new hotel. Previous reviews suggested there were teething problems with the Savoy Seychelles, but fortunately, we shouldn't have been concerned. The hotel is a superb facility with little expense having been spared in its outfitting. From the rooms, which were beautifully appointed, the large and functional bathrooms, wide balconies and superb vista, to the well designed restaurants, pool area, foyers and library, there was little if anything to fault. In fact, there is something special about staying in a new venue, knowing few people have experienced what you have (or worn it out!). The staff were enthusiastic and most accommodating, with any minor complaint acted on almost immediately. One can walk to the beach in less than a minute and the clean white sand and hotel sunbeds make it really inviting. Several sunsets were spent having cocktails at the hotel's "Gecko Bar" close to the beach. Dining here and in the hotel's other two restaurants was a pleasure. Prices are not on the cheap side, but this has to be expected in such an isolated country, and they compare favourably with other local venues (there are several conveniently close restaurants). We had some minor suggestions for the staff: open up a pool bar (which would be very easily done) and have a more open booking system for the tennis court. They suggested these points were already being acted on. In short, we would thoroughly recommend anyone coming to the Seychelles to stay at the Savoy. In fact, rethink where else you were going and go to the Seychelles instead! "

STORY Seychelles
Mahé Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
"We booked this place through Agoda well in advance so we got a decent price. However if we booked at rack rates I would have said totally over priced. That is the case with most hotels and even other stuff in Seychelles. As for the property it is ok with all the required facilities. Sadly though the service level of some of the staff is really bad. we had a bad experience in the main restaurant with both the service and the food. They did give us the food free so made up for it somewhat. However we were not looking for free food. But many of the overseas staff are very good. so that kind of evens it out. Despite all this I would still rate this one of the best hotels in Seychelles."

Kempinski Seychelles Resort
Mahé Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
"My husband and I went to the Seychelles for our honeymoon and we didn't regret choosing to stay at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort. The hotel is situated over acres and acres of absolutely beautiful well kept and preserved natural habitat. It has its own beach and sunbeds in close proximity under the trees (the sun can be scorching hot). There are three restaurants, a bar, a tourist shop and a pool table at your disposition. The pool is nice and long although we didn't really try it as we had a rent-a-car and changed beaches continuously. The hotel beach is the one thing we didn't enjoy very much - rocks, sea urchins and sea cucumbers aplenty. Make sure you buy water shoes regardless of the beach as there are venomous creatures everywhere. The hotel staff is well trained and very friendly, we felt they were all cordial with us all the time which contributed to a very pleasant stay. All in all - a very positive impression and we would definitely return. "

Green Palm Self Catering Apartments and Chalets
Mahé Island,Seychelles Islands - View on map
"The host (Mrs Vandagne) is very helpful in every matter, polite & generous (she came over at my veranda one evening and offered me a delicious creol dinner on a plate - no charge). I mainly chose this place because of price, but I actually would pay a little bit more next time to eventually get closer to nicer surroundings. It's nothing wrong with the place itself, but I felt the location a little isolated with no nightlife/restaurant areas or promenades nearby. It's close to the sea but you can't actually walk there conveniently because of private properties & a road with very busy traffic as the only promenade alternative. In return you have close access to public transportation with a bus stop just some 100 m away. And luckily there is a small supermarket just next door. This place is recommended if it's not very important with typical tourist-friendly surroundings. "

"It was our first experience in 2star hotel, but we were fully satisfied. I guess this hotel has only one serious disadvantage - wifi for charge. Other things are great! Patatran village it's most amazing beach on Seychelles islands I guess. So, thank you Patatran! Denis and Ksenia from Russia."

Traveler impressions of Seychelles Islands

More about Seychelles Islands

The Seychelles Islands are located on the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa and Madagascar. The Seychelles is a favorite destination for those seeking an exciting and relaxing seaside vacation complete with sailing, diving, and other water sports.

The Seychelles is served by the Seychelles International Airport, which then operates a series of smaller airports that serve the rest of the islands.

Needless to say, the best and most popular activity while visiting these islands is to relax on the many beaches and take part in many exciting waterfront activities. Places such as Amse Lazio Beach are very popular among visitors to this area, and hotels near the beaches are conveniently located near the waterfront.

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Vallee De Mai Nature Reserve is a major national park that houses many species of plants, including some that are very unique and exclusive to only this island. Hotels near the nature reserve are plentiful, and range in size and budget to offer a wide selection.
