Best hotels & accommodations in Shantou

This hotel is 1 of the only 2 5-star hotels in Shantou. The rates are good considering it is a 5-star hotel. It is along the popular Jin Sha Street and within walking distance to many food places and shopping areas. Hotel recommended for those who wants a hotel with good facilities.

Overall, Sheraton Shantou Hotel is a good place to stay for businesses, leisure, or family activities. Most of the staffs are friendly and willing to guide me for travelling around in Shantou. The only problem is no shopping center or any hypermarkets around the Hotel location, without transportation, it is hard to find foods around the location. But, overall, I love...

To put things into perspective, Shantou is not as developed as Beijing or Shanghai so in terms of design and grandness one must put your expectation down a notch. Having said that, this hotel is extremely well located, right next to a popular shopping centre (although I hear that the shopping centre might be moving) but also, for 20RMB you can take a straight bus to an...

The room was in very good condition for such an inexpensive place. The location is near some good restaurants and, for me, I wanted to do some hiking across the river. It was very convenient for that. Staff was very helpful, but some knowledge of Chinese would be helpful. Not much English spoken. Only downside was some smell in the room -- seemed like stale cigare...

Everything is perfect here, value for yr money. Best hotel in China at this low price. The only thing needs to b improved is the cleanliness of the floor. Maybe it's because Chinese are not so neat in cleaning. They always do things fast but end with imperfect work. All in all I will come back here this Jinjiang Inn Shantou. Best in town..trust me.

This was our first trip to Shantou and we were lucky to have found City Comfort Inn based on past reviews. It is a new hotel and the rooms were well designed/constructed and were clean. Getting a taxi is not easy in traffic congested Shantou but there is a bus station and taxi waiting line opposite the hotel. We took the bus on a day trip to nearby Chaozhou for a look...

I have stayed in this hotel previously, Hotel Amenities and Services at Regency Hotel in Shantou include a well-appointed business center, 10 restaurants and bars, each with its own distinctive décor and ambiance. Both western and Chinese cuisines can be found here. The bar has some of the most exotic collections on offer. Sports and recreation at the hotel include a m...

The rooms are clean and spacious. The morning breakfast is more for the Chinese people as westerners or Asians will find it different to the tastes they are accustomed to. Staff spoke absolute zero English but can use application to communicate. Basically if you do not request for help and just need a clean, safe and spacious place to stay then this hotel is value for ...

pros; The front stuffs don’t speak English but at the best for help. The Old Lady in the 5th floor hotel’s restaurant treated me best. She also gave me 4 pieces of Local Orange which I asked to buy but wrong communication. Thx u both front stuffs helped calling me a taxi and the old lady also. She cooks nice food (I guess for Chinese). But most of the taste neither sal...

We stayed in a deluxe twin room without breakfast (hence we cannot comment on the restaurant/bfast). The room was big, clean and comfortable. We love the large bathroom especially. The hotel is located in quite a convenient and safe location, near to public transport too. Overall our stay was pleasant and the room rates was super reasonable and value for money.

The hostel is a little old but great value for the price. Some places I've are located in the highrise apartments and finding the right address is a challenge, here you just walked off the street and you will find the hostel. It's also near bus stop and long distance bus station, very convenient. I will not hesitate to return.

Dont book the bus ticket from Shantou to Xiamen, its not reliable, we booked cause they was a banner there saying travel by vip bus and we were advise to book thru the agent, come to think abt it wonder if he is a staff of the hotel. Overall it was a nice stay. The front hotel staff was really helpful.

A real enjoyment, with friendly staff, by peaceful stay. It was very nice to find warm and careful hosts, within a general climate of civilization proper to the wonderful Chinese people I strongly admire for a long time ago, in its both in-depth and manifested style of living. It was my second travel in China, now in Shantou - a city of marvelous realizations, with an ...

The hotel used to be a leisure centre so it's not surprised it has all sorts of leisure facilities like spa, steam and massage. However the decorations are quite dated and some are fallen apart. They really should have refurbished the toilets before the grand open last year. Apart from that, the stay was of great value considering all the free stuffs. Worth a try.

I picked the hotel because the price was very reasonable. Although it has a huge car park, it was always full at night due to night-club and massage parlour patrons. So be prepared that you might not find a parking space is you come back around 10pm. The room is ok la taken the rate paid. Just a clean room and no extra expectation. The breakfast was "minimal" and...

I was given a choice to chose city view or inner view (with no additional charges), and ended up I have a computer in my room! Which later on I noticed that was supposed to be a more expensive room. There is also a hair dryer in my room (very good). My previous stay in 7 days inn in another city has no hair dryer in the room. Thanks to the computer I was able to sear...

Space is quite enough for two. Safely located in the center of city. Famous restaurants, night market and fruit stores in walking distance. Good for a walk even at night. Parking is not easy for first timer. You need to wait for the valet parking staff to come back and guide you to the nearby parking lot. It takes him quite long to guide one car at a time.

Though the staff cannot speak English, They try to help a lot. Room deciration is ok. However, some facility is not in a proper status. There is noise from the car horn when night since I got the room on the hotel side that near the road. There is a cigarrette small in the elevator and lobby.

Traveler impressions of Shantou
Teochew culture is well maintained. Friendly teochew people around you. Authentic teochew food and cakes.
Shantou itself is not a place where you would be going for cultural tours of any sort. it is more a city that consists of good traditional food in comparison to culture/museums.
Shantou, although as massive as other chinese cities, but is not as crowded.. There are a number of scenic spots that you can can enjoy tranquility while having gong fu tea.
A combination of traditional and modern, amazing activities, lovely style of living, parks, shopping areas; just the traffic is crazy.
Shantou's people are humble and friendly. But it is not safe to walk around at night when especially you are carrying handbag.
This is a city with lots of immigrants who become taxi drivers. The streets in the city is quite filthy comparing to Xiamen.
Not much of attractions. However, we were there to visit family. Good food and you can pretty adventurous exploring the wet markets around the city.
Visit this place for Teochew culture/history. The people speak the Teochew dialect and it would be great if you are able to converse in this dialect.
